The fog creeps slowly downward and will be on the roadway in about ten seconds.

Re: Caravan to Al Menir

Haveron noted the direction of the cloud and for a moment showed a visage of panic. He shouted out, to the caravan. "Amelia, get away from it!  hoping that the headed warning would provide her enough time to jog or run out of its path. While he cared about his compatriots, no person in that group had stuck with him in the way she had and she would be the final nail in any coffin of his previous life if harm would come upon her.

Haveron then frowned at the person that had cast the spell. "You, and gareth come with me" he said to the Ogre brute standing near by. "Hold your breath" he added quickly, before raising his shield infront of him and pumping his legs to push him at full speed towards their enemy. He held his breath when getting close to the crowd. but hoped that the running and wide-faced shield would at least help disturb the oncoming cloud.

Gorgath looked back towards the direction Haveron had yelled and followed with a yell of his own emphasized by a big wave of his arm,

"Move everyone!"

When Haveron suggested they move forward, the ogre's eyes rolled.

"Finally. Smart thing. You keep up."

With a mighty grunt, the ogre began churning his big legs up the hill, moving deceptively fast towards the group on the hill.

OOC: Move 5, then Sprint 6 up towards the hill. Will ignore any attacks that aren't targeting his face.

Haveron cocked a grin at the Ogre and then also pushed himself forward, easily keeping up with the bigger creature.

"Lets go then! Try to keep one of them alive, eh?

In reply to Berry (msg # 555):

Gareth, already well up the hill, took advantage of the cloud to hold his breath and move through it to cover further up the hill, towards his attackers, taking care to avoid further attacks from magic or missiles as he does so.

[Private to GM: I still have no idea what further cover Gareth can see, but I assume he knows of some. Intention is to hold his breath and run through the cloud to cover that is closer to his enemies...if a dodge is required, it probably wont go well...but move and all out defence. Rolled 5 over his unmodified dodge, not sure what modifiers apply due to cover, cloud, etc.]

In reply to Gareth (msg # 556):

The yellowish cloud is foul, and smells of brimstone. All passing through it (Gareth, Gorgoth, and Haveron) make HT and DX checks as you go through; HT for holding your breath, DX for possible bad footing you can't see through the haze.

What you can see on the ridge above: four archers, rather singed and with useless bows, two are still on fire, and about twenty yards out, a robed man with a staff.

The cloud is obstructing your view of what is further northwest on the hill, and on the road.

Miraculously, Gareth manages to hold his breath and continue up the hill until he comes to some cover. He will pause there and ensure he now has the range to target the robed figure with his fireball, noting his distance from the archers...

[Private to GM: HT made by 2, DX check rolled DX! Moving to cover...]

Re: Caravan to Al Menir

Despite holding his breath Haveron could feel the foulness of the yellow air that surrounded him as he pushed through. Something deep within him told every part of his body that it'd be worse than death to take a lungful of the rotten air and so he didn't.

Upon passing the cloud he glanced at the threat before them and reasoned that perhaps now the wizard was the largest, with most of the bows taken out of action for the time being. Haveron pushed forward quickly and then told his allies, to keep up with him "Keep up, lets go!"

You close with the archers... only one seems ready for you, drawing a long knife.

Gareth is at 1/2d range for his fireball

[Private to Sorsha: you see about two dozen lightly armored, armed men and women running up the road ten yards behind the cloud.]

Re: Caravan to Al Menir

Haveron strode forward to the archer and then looked dismayed as the man pulled a knife. While walking towards the man he said aloud

"Come now, that's not going to cut it against my blade" he said, gesturing to the sword strapped across his entire back and dropping the tower shield that he held.

"Put the blade away and I'll not draw mine" he said, not erring in his step but offering the man a chance to fight without weapons.

"Fair's fair and all that, friend" he said without malice but unwavering in their imminent conflict. "I'd warn you though that no man has ever been able to turn my blade aside he warned with a friendly cadence to his voice.

If the man puts away his sword, Haveron will not draw his and go in hand-to-hand.

Gorgath kept his feet churning, seeming unaffected as he burst through the other side of the yellow fog. With his polearm raised he keeps moving closer to the enemy.

"Hmph. You lucky you not fighting me. I no man."

Gorgath chuckles as he nears the side of Haveron then gets intensely serious as he looks at the archer,

"Drop it or die."

Re: Caravan to Al Menir

In reply to Sorsha (msg # 567):

Sorsha dispells the cloud, revealing a few dozen lightly armored bandits with a mix of spears and hand weapons running up the road toward the caravan.

The fireball heaved by Gareth can be seen from below, but Berry on the road only sees him cast it...Gorgath, Haveron, and Gareth can see it strike the distant robed man.

The knife wielder sees Haveron, and seems to be calculating his chances at stabbing through his brigandine,  until the towering shape of Gorgath and the Doomrazor appear. The loss of the cloud, him being recently burnt, and more flames shooting out of Gareth's hand help him decide to start backing away while lowering the knife.

Re: Caravan to Al Menir

Haveron glanced to the Ogre.

Knife man is mine, you focus on the others he said, casually falling into his old pattern of command. It came as nature to him as he continued forward to engage the man in unarmed combat.

He would make some sport of it and probably spare any real injury from the man if he fought well and showed some good heart.

Close on the man,

Telegraphic Attack(Brawling)
->
Beat
-> Wrestling Grapple

He will throw a haymaker to encourage the man to defend, and then once he does, will use his strength to beat the man's arm away, spinning him and giving Haveron the opportunity to wrap his arms around the midsection of the man

I'm not sure how much you need me to go over but he'll then attempt a damaging takedown (lifting, like a back suplex and slamming him to the ground, and landing upon him)

Let me know what you need me to roll, or if you want to roll yourself i've no issue.

The knife wielder makes a reatreating dodge, just escaping Haveron's grab.

He is retreating uphill, however, which is going to negatively affect his footing in a moment...

"Come on now! Running away is no way to set yourself apart he said before grimacing at the recall of the last battle he'd fought with family and lands. He and Amelia had been one of perhaps 10 survivors. It shamed him a little, but he quickly surpressed the feeling, refocusing on the task at hand.
