Re: At a back table in the guildhall

Quietly watching the whole debate from edge of the group, Arthur finally finished his gruel and tosses the empty bowl at the halfling “‘ey you can have the rest o’ this one too. I’m bettin’ Sumanus just got turned around chasing some lass, we might as well find some work until he can pull his head out between his legs and remember we be waitin’ for him. I don’t like be so low on coin as I am currently

Re: At a back table in the guildhall

“Oi!” snapped Rick, yet again. He grabbed the empty bowl and scowled at Arthur.

“No more healing potions for you! Next time you’re gonna share, at least leave me a few bites.”

Snatching the Leprechaun’s drink, he said, “I’ll call us even if you left a few sips of . . . damn, you drink fast for such a little guy.”

He returned to his typical, cheery disposition despite the subject of their missing compatriot. “As for Summanus, without some coin we’re gonna have a hard time tracking him down. I say get ourselves some local work in the mean time.”

"bah, be nice and you might get my entire bowl tomorrow, I am so stuffed I won't have to eat for another weak!"

Arthur rests back and rubs his belly contentedly while glaring at the greedy halfling.

In reply to Arthur (msg # 13):

"Once I settle accounts, I may begin a new venture, possibly returning to Matin du Montagne to settle affairs, I will look for you  here, but for now I will be engaged with the Merchant's guild. You can find me staying at the Silver Purse."

“We should stick around Northport for a while, in case Summanus turns up looking for us,” said Rick. “Have you heard of any jobs around here? Or perhaps know who to ask? The more interesting the better, in my opinion.”

Re: At a back table in the guildhall

In reply to Theadric Greenbottle (msg # 15):

"As it so happens, I was speaking to a fellow who represents the interests of the Imperial Mages guild, not that they have a guildhall here, but there has been a shortage of an ingredient for paut, which drove up the prices for the potion. The problem seems to be that even though there should  be increased demand due to the reduced supply, local wizards have found someone to get it from cheaper. The merchant seemed to suggest that there would be interest from the Mageguild in finding the illicit supplier and stopping them."

"Act as jack-booted thugs to disrupt the free market? I'm not interested." Valdnur says wagging his beard back and forth, "Out of curiosity though, what's the pay?

Eustache blinks."I am not too fond of the Mageguild either, but Ghislaine had said something like three thousand, with a bonus if the formulary of the alchemist in question could be obtained."

"Hold on now Valdnur, don't go speaking for all of us. I rather like the occasional act of thuggery. Especially the paying kind." He looks into a mostly empty coin purse that had somehow found it's way into his hand. "Yep going to definitely need a paying job. Anybody want a drink? Rick's paying."

"I am not one to be turning down a payin' job, but I don't trust them jerks over at the mages guild..."

The leprechaun sits back, playing with his top hat while he thinks it over.

"Bah, I could use the coin and I am sure my friend would enjoy an outing... Though if we do this, that could mean we end up having to pay more for out potions in the future... What do you guys think, I could go either way."

Re: At a back table in the guildhall

The elf responds to the group and says, "I have no problem with working for the Mages if the pay is good. $600 each does not sound like a bad sum if we can do the work quick. We already have our own alchemist if we need cheaper potions, so I do not think we would be ruining the market for us."

Espiri asks Eustache, "Did you manage to hear if this job was a bounty, or if it was a contract?"

"It seemed more of a bounty situation, although Ghislane said that if the matter was not handled locally, the Mageguild would send in an investigative team... that part did not sound so good to me."

"Well if it's a bounty, we can just set to work. No need to check in until we can collect." Valdnur says, "Rick, do you have any ideas where we might start looking it we were in the market for black market alchemical ingredients?"

"Well I suppose that I can check around and see if I can find that paut. I might need some money though. With what I have and Rick's contribution, I have about... $100. I'm not sure if that will be enough to buy it."

16:04, Today: Osgood rolled 8 using 3d6.  streetwise 13.

"I'll cover it." Valdnur says reaching in his coat and pulling out his coin purse. He counts out two gold and slides it to Osgood. He keeps his hand on the money and before releasing it says, "Bring me the change, I'm expensing this from the bounty and I don't think everyone would appreciate the undue cost inflation of your sticky fingers. Understood?"

"Everybody is so suspicious these days." Said the thief as he quickly slipped the coins into some inner pocket and dryly continued. "I'll see if the black market distributor will give me a receipt." He stood up, brushed the crumbs off his coat and headed out to find the paut.

In reply to Arthur (msg # 30):

Not too far out of the guild is the Redlght district, which has a high orcish population, in addition to a collection of seedy taverns. Just off the mostly goblin artisinal district is a narrow lane with a pawnshop and a glassblower shop. Beside that is a boarding house with an exterior entrance to an apothecary shop, heralded by a wooden sign with a painting of a mortar and pestle.  The door at the base of the stairs is open.  A bearded man in patch robes is sweeping out some glass shards.

Espiri says to Oz, "You look the most suspicious. After you." The elf waves the halfling forward toward the shop.

"Besides, you have all the money." he adds in a much lower voice, while carefully placing his hands near his knives.

Re: At a back table in the guildhall

Oz smiled. "I'm actually quite tall for a halfling, and I do not wish to be confused for a tall folk. My companions and I are just gearing up for a trip, and they sent us out to get a few prices on healing potions, poisons, and a potion of haste. If you have those that is." As he talked he looked around the meager shop, hoping to catch a glimpse of the black market paut.

16:50, Today: Osgood rolled 14 using 3d6.  PER 14 (look for paut).
