Re: Stalking Balar

Darius, still staying as far away from the mule as the group allowed, stole a look at the pursuers before studying the shantytown.

[Private to GM: 10:14, Today: Secret Roll: Darius Kopaki rolled 14 using 3d6.  Perception: Pursuers and Shantytown vs 13.

Failure by 1.

Melchizidek spots a couple of stone markers... there is a line of them extending along the field, running parallel to the wall.

Make a tactis, strategy or iq-6 roll.

15:44, Today: Aegis rolled 12 using 3d6 ((1,5,6)).
Perception: 12

As a veteran archer, Aegis reckons that the stones Melchizidek mentioned are ranging stones for archers so that no arrows are wasted.

There are a couple of shifty looking folks near the shanties, but none seem to have weapons at hand. The two stalkers seem to have spotted the row of stones, and are walking toward them...

Aegis watches the two stalkers approach the stones, making mental note of the range to them and readying himself to fire, should he need to. He also notes Mel and the others location so they can regroup when the altercation starts.

They are about 8 yards back, and are looking intently at the line of stones. One looks back over his shoulder art the gate. They seem to be marking the distance.

Darius, close to the mule, tightens the grip on his quarterstaff. He looks ready for a fight, though not aiming to start one judging from the fact that he wasn't throwing spells at people.

Aegis nocks an arrow and watches the men intently, mentally ready to fire on them if need be. He scans the road ahead, looking for any signs of danger and sighs quietly, growing quite bored of not being in a scuffle.

Re: Stalking Balar

Aegis smirks, seeing the men approaching from the shanty town. Nocking an arrow, he focuses on his shot. He takes aim center mass at the man who whistled and let's fly!

Bow: DX/A [16] 18 (19)
15:55, Today: Aegis rolled 12 using 3d6 ((1,5,6)).

The arrow flies true and sticks the man in his upper chest.

Damage roll:

Fine longbow 1d+5 plus an additional +2 from weapon master.

He attempts to draw an arrow quickly from his cornucopia and fails miserably.

16:17, Today: Aegis rolled 18 using 3d6+1 ((6,5,6)).

Re: Stalking Balar

Darius moved his staff to the left hand to keep his right free and ready for aggression on part of the pursuers or the incoming people when one of them sprouted an arrow. Surprised, he shot a glance at Aegis.

OOC: Just to make sure I've got the geometry right:
The party has just reached the markers. In front of them, there's the Shantytown, from which a group of people with clubs approach. About eight yards behind the party, there's two pursuers.

What's the distance to the club-people? How spread-out are they?

The club wielding rabble are ahead, and spread out. The two approaching had gotten to the line of stones before acting; the one who whistled just dropped to the ground. The other one's face just fell.
