Re: Stalking Balar

Masugatan draws his sword as quietly as he can and smiles.  He shows a lot of surprisingly white teeth.

He often smiles  just before killing somebody.

In reply to Masugatan (msg # 331):

Two men wearing light scale armor and carrying loaded crossbows burst into the clearing  and seem surprised by the arrow sticking out of it.
They seem more suprised by Masugatan, who was not concealed...

"He didn't kill it! There is an archer around here!"

Both men start to point their weapons at Masugatan!

OOC : I hope we're not fighting bronn of the blackwater for real, lol. My basic speed is 7.50 btw.

Aegis stands and lets fly again, aiming at the man farthest away from masugatan.

10:05, Today: Aegis rolled 6 using 3d6 ((1,3,2)).
Bow: DX/A [16] 18 (19)
DAMAGE ROLL
10:08, Today: Aegis rolled 9 using 1d6+7 ((2)). Weapon master, weapon bond.

After the arrow connects he reaches behind his back for another arrow.
(Fast draw and shooting rolls next turn for the next guy?)

In reply to Aegis (msg # 333):

Hah Bron would be a 450pt knight+Veteran!

Not so these. One fellow drops to his knees after letting loose a wild bolt that lodges high in a tree,
The other fires his crossbow at the only foe he can see, Masugatan!

Defend or take 5pts imp before DR

Re: Stalking Balar

OOC. I know it's out of order, just doing it so when masugatan and hopefully Reanna respond u can resolve it all at once.

Aegis reaches over his shoulder and quickly draws another arrow as it appears in it's magical quiver.
Fastdraw Arrow: DX/E [4] 17
17:11, Today: Aegis rolled 11 using 3d6 ((3,4,4)).

He nocks the arrow and draws, aiming at the other man this time center mass. He releases and watches the arrow fly true, striking him with a satisfying thunk!

Bow: DX/A [16] 18 (19)
14, Today: Aegis rolled 12 using 3d6 ((5,1,6)).
DAMAGE ROLL:
 19:12, Today: Aegis rolled 7 using 1d6+5 ((2)).

"Keep your wits about you, masugatan, those boots are no joke should they hit you! Reanna, no holding back! he says, making sure not to be too loud, in case others are close.

Reanna carefully aims at the heart of the man nearest to Masugatan as soon as they appear. When the men fire, she returns the favour...

In reply to Reanna Draegan (msg # 337):

Masugatan gracefully leaps aside from the incoming bolt.

The man who fired it sprouts both an arrow and a crossbow bolt, and goes down without any more sound than a faint cough of blood. Both men are down.

Re: Stalking Balar

In reply to Reanna Draegan (msg # 341):

The men were wearing light scale armor, had cheap shortswords and each has an average crossbow and quiver with just under a dozen bolts. They were also wearing black surcoats with a red stripe on on one side (the reverse side is brown).

Re: Stalking Balar

"We could take all their gear and stash it with the doe until we return. We could.split the profits between us, but I have a feeling they are gonna need our help with the rest. We should bring the coats as well, they may be some sort of gang colors and will prove how many we've slaim or apprehended. You should grab them bolts, Reanna. I've no need for them, I prefer my long bow."

Aegis goes to the doe and drags it to some bushes. He then goes back and strips the men of their surcoats and gear, wrapping the armor and weapons in one and throwing the other over the doe. He pulls some loose foliage over it and stands, brushing his hands off on his pants. He turns and addresses the group again.
"Good job guys. Let's hope the others fall as easily.

In reply to Aegis (msg # 343):

"Yes, though I woulds suggest those with crossbows can make better use of the bolts, and the coats might just be useful for some like Masugatan who are not so good at stealth to get closer to their camp, when we find it. If anyone has skills for a crossbow, but no crossbow, they should take one."

Re: Stalking Balar

Aegis hooks his bow back to his quiver and cracks his knuckles. He then pulls his shield from his back and straps it to his left arm and grabs a throwing axe. He looks between Reanna and masugatan and smiles, cocking his head in the direction they were initially heading and starts walking towards what they believe is the camp.

OOC: Just to check: We have Aegis, Reanna and Masugatan in the forward group and Melchizidek, Dne, and Darius near the camp. Is that right?

(Correct, I believe.)

Masugatan dons one of the coats.  He also spits in his palm and uses it to slick back his hair.  No one could accuse him of lacking panache.

He looks to masugatan and smirks, shaking his head and laughing a bit.
"You almost took a bolt in your chest back there, you had better be more mindful, my friend," he says. "when we get to the camp, you can try to get amongst them in the confusion and strike at Balar whilst they're confused."
OOC: Are we heading towards a clearing where the camp is or what?

Re: Stalking Balar

"I think we should follow these tracks and wait for them to try and shake down our comrades. While they're occupied with them we will have the element of surprise. It may even give the spell throwers a chance to work up some potent magics." he says, keeping his voice low.
He sheaths his throwing axe again, changing his mind about his tactics. He grabs his bow again and pulls an arrow, nocking it and holding it in place with the same hand his bow is in. He maintains a ready stance, scanning the horizon for any threats while he thinks about the dead deer he intends to eat, his mouth watering.
We have to be quick about it, I'll probably only shoot one or two arrows before I commit to close combat. We have to.keep the others safe, there's really no telling how these highwaymen operate. They may attack from the start, for all we know, so we need to be there to provide a distraction. "
