Re: Near the bone gate

In reply to Clarence Montague (msg # 549):

The door swings out into the corridor, and is wooden with thin bronze facing. It is rattling slightly as if being leaned against, not like being charged. The odor is foul. Everyone make a HT roll.

Mario's nose wrinkles.  "Whoa!  Stinky!  Jocelyn, if you can open that door without burning yourself, we can start actually doing something to the worm."

[Private to GM: 18:45, Today: Mario Crowfoot rolled 6 using 3d6.  HT roll (worm stench) (correct dice).]

Re: Near the bone gate

In reply to Jareth Mooncalled (msg # 556):

The stink of otherworldly rot is too much for Nodwin and Jareth. Charlene can keep it together, but the ferret is sympathetically affected by the bond to jarret and is noisily ill.

It will take a considerable amount of damage to eliminate the door (DR 5, hp 40)

Or combined ST rolled vs a significantly lhigh number to push it out of the way.

"I'd ask where else we might intersect that tunnel, if Jareth weren't as likely to destroy the map as read it.  However.

"The Bone Gate is, um, that way."
Mario points from memory.  "There are a limited number of ways that connect on this level.  The worm almost has to be going either up or down before it gets far."

Mario looks around at the group.  "Say, Alaric, how are you doing?  Are you functional enough to fight?  Or at least stay out of harm's way?"

Re: Near the bone gate

"I agree, that's probably the best choice at this point.  We might as well work on getting Alaric and that demon corpse up to street level, then.

Maybe we can be more effective in the open air, where this stench will blow on the breeze -- or maybe someone up there has something that will get rid of the thing."

The door rattles for some time, and then is still. A faint rasping sound can be heard as whatever was rattling it passes by. Gradually the stink fades.

"Yeah, t'ere are... but t'e main line widens as it approaches t'e harbour, so t'e worm might just find itself followin t'e easy path to t'e smell it ain't smell before..."
Jareth trails off for a second.

"Huh.  Or maybe it's followin t'e scent o' dead fish.  Eit'er way, ain't nothin we can do about it.  But if ain't caused no trouble by later today, we report it cuase that mean it went deep into t'e undercity an not run into no one up top."

Re: Near the bone gate

"That makes good sense to me."  Mario pauses.

"Say, if, ah, you called that a bhole?  If it's drawn to the scent of dead fish, mightn't it be attracted to a place where the Saturnines are storing dead cuttlefish to dye their robes?"

"Either way, we should probably head up to street level as quickly as we can."
