Re: Near the bone gate

Nodwin will stop and pray in front of the temple of Vejovis for a moment.

"I will only be a moment"

OOC EDIT: removed the following text: Then, he will lead them across the street into the temple of Clementia, to see the Priestess Esmee.

OOC Balir's driver now taking over as Nodwin.  Happy to make your acquaintances.

Mario's head swivels as he takes in the temples.

"The brothers always said these were pagans, many of them not evil, but merely mistaken.  They wouldn't even attend services at the cathedral, said Father Robard followed a, what did they call it?  A schismatic doctrine.

"I never really understood why they claimed goblins and kobolds and such weren't worthy.  Some of my best friends were goblins, in those days."

Re: Near the bone gate

As he walks, Nodwin addresses the concerns raised by Mario. As they are in his part of town, on his holy ground, it ceels appropriate for him to speak up. “There are many people for whom religion is very meaningful. It can bring out the best in us, when we have a standard we can aspire to. It brings accountability and value to our interactions. Unfortunately, there are many who bring their own human weakness into the religion they subscribe to. For example, bigotry and racism can be found in religious people, even when the tenants of the religion strictly guide us against it.  Usually, the biggest barrior to a religion are the people who represent it.  Every day, in some small way, I am judged against what you believe a follower of Vejovis should represent.  Many days I will be found lacking. I can only hope that in the small moments, when you find it meaningful, that you see the god shine theough me.  It is never me you see at my best, it is the power and presence of Vejovis that shines through. I am but a humble man who lets the god use me as a vessel, for the betterment of all. “

Nodwin smiles and responds "Yes, they did.  I intend to set them up with a place to live in our new home.  We could use someone to mind the property while we are away, and they would be perfect for the work.  It seems like an excellent arrangement for everyone involved.

In fact, I would like to speak with someone about setting them up as herbalists.  They have easy access to the common land there, and all the resources needed for an herb garden.  Do you know of anyone in the temple with these skills?

Also, we are here to see Priestess Esmee.  Do you know if she is in attendance at the temple of Clementia today?"

“We have with us a man who has been cursed. We wish to ask her favor, to see if the curse can be removed. “

OOC Just to refresh myself as much as anything...  Alaric had a nice sword, with a gem in the pommel that has a remaining wish.  The group discussed selling it for money, but also using it to heal Alaric of his madness.  The group tabled that discussion while we check in with Esme to see if she can remove the madness via Remove Curse.  If that works then we're free to sell the stone.  If not, then we're back to the original discussion.

Re: Near the bone gate

Nodwin will nod in thanks, and then respond.  "I will take my leave of you then, and proceed to the Temple of Clementia, to see if I can speak with Priestess Esmee."

OOC Clearing up a bit of confusion.  Nicodemus Aurelius is listed as a Priest of Vejovis, which probably puts the setting at the Temple of Vejovis.  A couple lines up I mentioned crossing the street to enter the Temple of Clementia.  However, I think we never did (or a mistake was made).  No matter.  I made minor adjustments to a couple posts above to represent we were still at the Temple of Vejovis, and we can proceed across the street to meet with Prietess Esmee now.

Nodwin will leave the group across the street, and then bow deeply in front of his counterpart.  "Priestess Esmee, it is my pleasure to make your acquaintance again.  May Clementia be with you.  I hope you are well this fine day."

.....

"We have come to see you on behalf of this man, named Alaric.  We found him cursed with great strength, but pierced by many weapons.  He had been driven to madness, although we were able to tame him for a time.  We came to you to see if you could remove this curse, and restore him to sanity.  Would you be willing to look at him?  We have alms for Clementia for the service."

He will be a free man, he is welcome to rejoin us, but has stated a desire to never again hold a weapon, so perhaps he can find a place more in keeping with his wishes.

Re: Near the bone gate

Nodwin pauses for a moment.  He hadn't considered what exactly Alaric might want to do with his future.  After thinking about what Esmee asks, he turns to address the man.

"Alaric, may Vejovis be with you.  I also pray for the boon of Clementia upon you.  When you are done at the temple, you have a place in my home should you want to live there.  The temple of Vejovis would welcome you as well, as would I am sure Priestess Esmee.  If you wish, I have plans to teach some refugees some skill at healing.  If you need a trade to make your way in this world, I will offer to share that knowledge with you.  If none of that appeals to you, then go your own way with my blessing.  You always have a place to call home as long as I am here."

With that, Nodwin will again bow to the Priestess, and takes his leave.  "I will offer you these alms as payment for Alaric's condition.  If you require more, please contact me at my new residence, and I will gladly make another donation.  Alaric knows where I live."

OOC It was a little before my time in the game, but I think a payment amount was discussed.  I believe we should turn that over now, and then see if more is required down the road.

"Right, that be fifteen cooper each, let's all pony up."

Jareth makes the rounds gathering up everyone's offerings.

OOC:  100$ split seven ways comes to 14$ and change.  Call it 15$ and it puts 2$ extra towards the church.  Of course I ain't gonna tell anyone they gotta pay more, but you never when generosity now may not just nudge things in your favor later.

Jareth being an unGodly sort is only putting in 15$.

Jocelyn Lemru:
From what I find it was originally 3 Copper Pieces each.  I will contribute the $15 to Esmee...

It was originally 10$ each, not counting the Orichalcum Cuffs, which would bring in 140$ each, 150$ for the house, 70$ for Charlene.

However... I looked at that 10$ each and it didn't look correct... so I redid the math.  And then I noticed that either gwythaint's math was off, or he's being a bit generous (maybe he is, Jareth did try a Merchant roll after all).  A bit generous by 25.2$. (So not much in the grand scheme.)

My re-recorrected math shows us earning 163$ each, 165.8$ for the house fund, 82$ for Charlene.

With gwythaint's math we get 166$ each, 169$ for the house, and 83$ for Charlene.

And we haven't yet disposed of the Puissant Bastard Sword (+258$ each, +265$ house, +129$ Charlene) or the Wish Stone (++??????$) in it's pommel.

Clarence will find $15 to give. Somewhere.

[OOC: So we have already recieved that? I was under the impression that we were heading out to get that now by selling stuff, so I just wanted to clarify. I had $150 on my character sheet, so I thought that if that was it, then the $13 was already taken. So now a little confused about what was paid when.]

OOC:  We got paid in message #670 (through the amounts were discussed over in the Awards thread).  We never paid for Alaric to get fixed as we were still discussing exactly what and how.
