Kirpich has some idea what he is doing...
Though personally I would call for civil engineering, Architecture is what the rules call for. Actually, Basic rules seem unusually inaccurate with regards to building design, civil engineering and architecture...in reality they have a LOT of overlap, at least in Australia. Are they radically different in other parts of the world? Basic has Architecture defaulting to CE-4 and CE defaulting to Architecture-6, which will be the same as IQ for a new graduate, or skill of 1 or 2 points. That basically says you have to be really skilled as an architect to have ANY benefit to Civil Engineering from Architecture training. That seems out of kilter to me.
It also seems weird that Civil Engineers in Aus sign of on new building designs, but Basic has this role as an architect, defaulting to CE-4. Makes me wonder about the process in the rest of the world?
Of course, not relevant to the game. Rules are in Basic pretty clearly. Just personal curiosity.
[Private to GM: Rolled 5 under IQ, default for Architecture exactly.]
