Re: Storming the Library

OOC:  Just to refresh we found:

quote:
Armor: thieves mail (torso) and heavy leather arm/leg covering (perforated)
Boots(with a large fine silver coated knife) soft (now stiff) leather gloves,
A backpack with a trap kit, delver's periscope, spy horn, good quality lockpicks,
a collapsible pole, burglar bar, and grapnell webbing and potion belt with 2 packets of luminous dust, three empty vials, a perforated black cloak, a very nice looking shortsword, a gold ring set with an onyx, A pouch of 40 silver pieces and an ornate looking scroll tube made out of old ivory.

Hitomi took out on her person:

large fine silver coated knife
good quality lockpicks
trap kit
a gold ring set with an onyx
A pouch of 40 silver pieces

She gave the scroll tube to Aethelbert, offered the shortsword up to anyone who wanted it, packed the rest in the backpack and suggested someone might carry it.  I don't think anyone took the sword or the backpack, so what she has is what must be evaluated.

[Private to GM: Does Hitomi know a good place to have the ring evaluated?  We establised way back that she knew a couple of good fences, but she wants someone who could, and would, tell her if the ring is magical and not immediately claim it.

Looks like it might not be her day for assessing value on her own, but she might well know where to deal with the ring.

13:43, Today: Secret Roll: Hitomi rolled 9,13,13 using 3d6,3d6,3d6. Area Knowledge, Streetwise, and Merchant @14,13,12 respectively.

In reply to Gigi Nivens (msg # 16):

You have all moved out of the undercroft, and passed the night uneventfully. Gorgath is
nearly healed, his face a bit raw where he pulled off the bandages. Hitomi looks luxuriously rested, and has a glow of satisfaction about her. Syrik has a bit of a
cough and could maybe do to rest a little. Stark had a shave and a wash, but his armor
Seems to have been etched by the exposure to slorn spit, and looks like runes in some
language.
Currently in the small conference room above guild main hall, away from those looking
for gruel, although Gorgath has had a few bowls already.

The place looks a lot less ostentatious than the large suite of rooms Camilla uses,
and for some reason the door won't close completely. You can all fit, although gorgath had to stoop to get in the door.

OOC: I don't think we are sitting in the common area with loot spread out before us, so we can deal with item identification when we can work it out IC.  This is not to dismiss that Gigi might have means of knowing that Hitomi has something interesting on her person, or Gorgath in the back pack, but absent that ...

IC:

"Why don't you have a seat and tell us about Lulu and how you lost her?  When did you last see her, and where?  If we have time to help you before we must attend to our client's task then I will and you will help us - we have need of a mage."

The priestess had no noted rank. She looked more like a druid, actually: She wore a simple robe and carried a quarterstaff fashioned from dragonbone.

"Eh bet af both," she said. "Ah sairve Cerrunos, Lard af tha Hunt, bet Hae hes saen fet ta geft meh weth haelin powairs es well. Es Ah em shair ye are thenken, Ah em naht much en a faight, bet ma spairet craechairs are quaite caepabel, end Ah hev plentae af athair yoosful mejicks."

Essentially, a cross between a druid and a cleric.

"Excuse me, my name is Danos and if you're looking to assemble a team for an expedition I believe my skills may be of some use. I am a decent shot with a bow and my blade is keen. And I can keep a sharp eye out for any traps that might have been put in place to protect... whatever you might be in search of."

Danos is a mountain elf, though he keeps his head shaved so that its blue colour doesn't draw too much attention. He wears leather boots and gloves, and carries a bow and a rapier.

OOC:  I am not personally an expert climber but I understand a bit about belaying with a pully and such.  What I was getting at was a controlled descent via belaying so that those who are not climbers don't have to rope down, they can work down on the stones with their weight taken in part by the belayers.  Belaying by its nature involves the use of a fail safe friction stop.  Sorry for my imprecision.

Stark and Gorgath stand over the remains of the troll, partially blocking the other's view. They are in a chamber about five yards wide and ten yards long, with openings immediately to either side, about two and a half yards wide, and two archways at the far end of the room.

You can hear the ringing of a bell off in the distance, and faint grumbling noises.

The dead troll was about a span under two yards, long armed and stocky, with sharp teeth and a long nose. his armor is an odd type of leather, and he had a long knife, a black bow and a
quiver of arrows.

OOC: Yes.  I'm taking a Do Nothing Maneuver.  If any of the following happens, I'll charge down the hallway, shield in front, until I can get close enough to strike.
I'm waiting for either;
1) Fireflies to illuminate the target OR

3) someone else just charges down the hallway  OR

What is it with the isl;and? I want the library not the island... until they have given proof

Turning her head to Aoife and Gigi she asks "Can either of you help us better understand each other?  If you can, do so at any time."

Turning back to the troll wife she continues "Grandmother, what proof do you seek?  If my sage understands what is said your son speaks of a test, is this a test of intent or of skill?  We are seeking a library long abandoned.  Is it to be found on an island within water beneath the surface?  Have you questions of me Grandmother?"

[Private to GM: I know you said the bow was salvageable and I think the troll said something about fixing it, but Syrik is distraught about it.  So if the troll takes it, it's his.  If he repairs it and gives it back at a later time, Syrik will be floored.

Unless you strongly disagree with me doing it that way.
