The ogre pulls the bottle back and puts it away while walking away from the group.

A low rumble escaped Hitomi's throat.  "Take a look around you at your companions Stark, then tell me, just what makes them 'monsters'?"

"Let me try this one more time with him, then we are done here.  Translate for me sage."  Hitomi takes out her whetstone and one of the knives she used on the trolls she fought and begins sharpening it, then squats on her haunches in front of, but out of reach of, the troll being questioned.

"We did not come here seeking a fight with your kind - your companions attacked us, and suffered for it.  You don't have to pay for that mistake.  Just show us where we can find the library and you can go home to your kin."

The troll gives Hitomi a long cold stare upon hearing her words translated,
And appears quite intimidating for a nesrly dead prisoner, but the effect is
 lost as it coughs blood and winces.

She frowns, places her hands om the troll, and prays,
 "Cerrunos, Lord of the Hunt, heal this one that he may hunt again"
The troll writhes under her touch, and sits up with a jerk, the gaping axe
wound almost healed completely.

In the distance, to the south and southeast, you can all hear tramping feet.
 Your troll stands up, a little shaky on his feet and calls out

that is an introduction I suppose."

"Never make an enemy where you might make a friend sage.  This whole fight was a misunderstanding and a waste.  I will be talking to the guild about securing greater relations with troll kind, but first we have to find that blasted library.  Excellent work priestess - if we can avoid further fights your healing will not be needed so urgently."

A number of trolls approach from each entrance, a few axe wielders the size
of the archers, some hulking brutes, more archers, a couple of troll women
with carved staves, and in the large entrance, a huge, heavily armored troll
mounted on a slorn!

I stand ready, arrow nocked, but pointed downward. A slight tension on the bow, as I step back a bit.

I wait near the door, shield ready, axe lowered.

"This will be interesting."

Hitomi sheathes her knife and watches the approaching trolls calmly.  As they come to a stop she pulls back the ever present hood of her cloak and steps forward toward the mounted troll.

"Translate for me please sage." she says to Aethelbert without taking her eyes off the trolls.  "I am Hitomi, daughter of the Jaguar clan.  I greet you with friendship if you will have it, with steel if we must."

She awaits his translation and the troll's response.

Gigi backs away to hide behind someone, preferably Gorgath.

One of the larger trolls glares at Aethelbert and then glances over at Hitomi.

Aethelbert translates,
"I am Hrunting of the People of the eastern depths, and you are here trespassing.
 Tell me why you should not be put to death. I smell fire, and my brothers are dead."

Your troll strikes his chest and says

 you or your brothers, but your brothers upon the pyre did lay ambush upon us, offering
neither warning nor parley.  They fought well, but their choice to fight rather than parley
was not wise.  Your might and wisdom is plain for all to see, so let us speak together in
peace that all might gain from friendship."
