Re: Island Fortress of the Baron

[Private to GM: Attempt to place his language and identity ]Well met Master ... he prompts allowing the Merchant to introduce himself [Private to GM: if he does reciprocate ]I have a notion that there are many mutually beneficial undertakings for those with enterprise to be entertained among those frequenting the Baron's Isle.

In reply to Zarrat (msg # 14):

"Lamont DuClare. I am a dealer in uncommon vintages, and am presenting the baron
with a few choice varietels as a way of petitioning for licensure to import them.
He has a firm intrasts in the local vinyards, but my varietals are not a direct
competition"

Ooc: from his accent, you can tell he is from a good bourgoise family from
 central Aral.

In reply to Lamont duClaire (msg # 15):

Zarrat nods in a supportive manner. Master Lamont DuClare it is heartening to hear your intention to provide an alternative to the established produce. I salute your efforts to promote healthy competition and ensure dynamic market trends do not stagnate; hopefully the Baron will look favourably on DuClare samples.

Re: Island Fortress of the Baron

In reply to Zarrat (msg # 22):

The ferry ties up at the docks, which are separated from the rest of the island by a
wall manned by archers and a drawbridge.  Currently the bridge is in position for crossing, and the gates are open.  Guardsmen are checking weapons and patting down some of the visitors not obviously of status.
One man reaches to check his belt, and discovers his pouch is missing. He begins to sweat heavily and appears very flustered.

OOC: something odd about this gentleman, perhaps something might be discernable by magesight?

Zarrat disembarks and joins the end of the line waiting to leave the dock. Interested by what is going on, he notes the reaction of the fellow being checked. [Private to GM: attempt to assess the fellow with his inherent MA  ]

Re: Island Fortress of the Baron

In reply to Zarrat (msg # 26):

Casting magesight, you can immediately perceive a mystic mark on the man's forehead,
The emblem of le Maisson Doloroso, a consortium of torturers and assassins that so
label their intended victims, usually debtors, who are often impressed into performing
Acts of mayhem in hopes of forestalling the inevitable. They are rarely successful at
this, however.

In reply to Narrator (msg # 27):

Zarrat is concerned about this and subtly moves towards the nearest guard when close he turns and faces out to sea so the none of the others can read his lips. I say good fellow that portly chap appears to have an emblem of le Maisson Doloroso, on him. I suggest he be detained for questioning. he he quietly informs, whilst covering any reply or acknowledgement of his presence by turning to face the others I say goodfellow Does this process take long he asks with a in a normal voice.

"He's what? Stay here, we will need to speak with you."
The guard waves over to a man in herald's garb, and whispers in his ear.
With your magesight, you can see that this man has some spells hanging about him.

The herald takes a good look at the nervous portly gentleman, and mutters familiar
sounding words. "I see. Bind this man, and bring him to detention for
questioning."

He turns to Zarrat, and gives him a looking over.
"Yesseh is it, or is it Zarrat? Your brother Ximmiv was before us two days
past. We appreciate your intelligence on this matter, and would value your discretion."

I suspect the Priests or Minerva are overly anxious to regain their item and have asked if he could assist the process. [Private to GM: Zarrat intended to look into this himself as it would be helpful to find out what specific ceremonial object from the Temple of Minerva, this would be]

Finishing his conversation with the Herald, Zarrat was permitted to continue. Makining his way up the path leading to the Baronial Holding. [Private to GM: Once inside he located Hallic and delivered the cakes to him and informed him of the arrest of the possible assassin at the docks]
