After Voorland the dwarf sealed the entrance between the sub-basement and the troll
colony on the level below, Monsieur DuClaire's goods began to arrive, barrels of
southern red wine intended for trade, rolled down the stairs Voorland had repaired.

  Legally, all beneath his foundation belonged to the merchant, and he was expecting another shipment soon.  The lower level would need to be secured, and he had a few people in mind to attempt it.

Christine waited to be contacted, and sought a healer who might like to join them.

The group wasted little time in returning to the now largely packed wine cellars, where they met with Voorland and Rhonnie. As they were preparing to open the seal to go down, Christine asked them to wait an hour while she created 2 living fireballs, Smokin and Chef, and then recovered her strength.

Once done, she asks

"If everyone is ready, Voorland, if you please.  Smokin and Chef, lets see who is down there as soon as he opens it."

Christine thanks Dareos and creates Trollbane, before sending all three down to the lower level before she has to attempt to maintain control over them. With Dareos help, she only has to wait about 25 minutes to recover her strength, she asks Voorland to open the seal as soon as she is recovered.

I whisper this as I knock a bodkin arrow, and prepare to send it into anything hostile I see. I am trying to be as quiet as I can, as I wait for the group to move.

As I trip over a small bucket, I whisper, "Sorry.  I am just kind of excited."

While the casting is going on, Voorland brings in his supplies with Ronhnie,
 including a half dozen of wrought iron gates, carried over to the site
 by a  massive ogress named 'Elga the Henormous, who does porting work in town.
Unfortunately, she is too large to fit through the main doors upstairs, and
Could never squeeze through the floor gate. She also carried over a ladder
and a block and tackle rig, which Voorland mounts over the trapdoor using his
Earth magic to anchor a hanging hook in the ceiling. He will now be able to
safely lower and raise his chests of alchemical earth and the gates with
little difficulty.

fireproof. I brought a few vials of aqua regia to do them right, but with so
many, I'll save those for the witches and great trolls."

While recovering after the last creation, Christine recalls the different types of trolls.

"Whilst troll archers are most common, it is the spell-casting she trolls that present the biggest problems. The fire elementals can be directed to deal with the archers, but the she-trolls can cast fire resistance. As there are some trolls that regenerate very quickly, that cam be a very nasty combination. Archers would be best dealing with the she trolls."

Turning to the fire elementals, she directs them to follow others orders unless she directs otherwise.

 the gate and lowers the ladder, latching the it to the gate's hinge, in such a way that it will remain stable. He turns a key in it, locking it in place.

Daphne and Petyr float lightly down, with Cloud fluttering along. Haskell
in his layered leather and steel armor follows on the ladder, and Molag
descends behind him. Three fire elementals circle the group, illuminating
a large rectangular room. There are six archways, one of which has a battered
looking bronze gate. There is no sign of the bodies left behind.

Christine joins the group in the room.

"I would like to recover the energy I used with the walk on air spells. While I do, think we should send 2 of the fire elementals out, one down each corridor, with someone backing each one of them up, to get a plan of what is beyond these doors."

She moves over to a wall and begins recovering again.

Once I'm down, I ready my axe and shield.  I stay close to the others in case I'm needed and leave the scouting to those more qualified.

With a bodkin arrow nocked, I'll follow one of the elementals.

Ooc: I'll be looking for tracks and signs of passage.

The fire elelmentals have been circling the room, but had not yet left.

To the south, there is one somewhat battered bronze gate, all of the other entrances are unblocked. The room is otherwise empty, except for char marks.

I step so I can see down Petyr's tunnel unless needed elsewhere.  Glancing down any other tunnels I'm lined up with cautiously.

I sheathe my axe and I try to look to see if the blind is secured in any way without making too much of a target of myself.

Stepping up to the hole will give whoever is inside a point-blank attack on toy, and the blind has metal spikes about six inches apart, so closing right up may not be a good idea.

In reply to Narrator (msg # 106):

Chjristine will stay back beside the blind so that those within cannot target her, fireball ready.

"Chef, go to that other blind and hover above the blind opening. When you see an archer come close to shoot, burn him. If you are at point blank range, so will they be, and that means they get burnt! You can try to burn the blind as well while you wait, as they will not be able to throw water above such a small hole. Trollbane and Molag, you finished with those guys in there? We need a shield or solid lump of wood to hold against this opening. That will stop them shooting!"

[OOC: Readied attack 4 under, step up to hole and throw fireball through at point blank range when she sees an archer prepare to fire through. Defence retreating dodge back to where she is.]

If I'm close enough, I'll smack the blind with the flat of my shield while keeping my body out of the line of fire.

Maybe that'll loosen them up a bit.

Chef flies over to block the western blind, and steam starts to rise off of
 the wet skins.
Meanwhile, Dareos slams his shield against the spikes protruding from the
Southwestern blind.

Molag and Trollbane are double-teaming the last bucket troll; Molag drops it
with a hard slash, and Trollbane just misses it.

With both blinds now blocked and the last bucket troll down, Christine steps forward to look for other targets, and then to see if there is a way to open the blinds to enter those rooms if there are no more trolls that she can see.

From your vantage point, you can see no other trolls. There is some commotion
 from the side of the blind that chef is blocking.

"Molag, command Trollbane for a bit. Chef, keep that blind cooking. Tell me if you can see them getting ready with a bucket of water on the other side."

Christine moves through, holding her fireball, to grab a bucket in her off hand.

The buckets are oiled hide, somewhat stiff, as they keep their form, but not
much in terms of protection.

Chef leaps away from his blind, a concentrated jet of water sprays out
through the opening.

Christine looks around the room for any large flat object that could block a blind. Like a troll body that could be jammed onto the spikes, for instance...

"Well dodged, Chef. See if you can burn a way through to the buggers who did that. It looks like they have a spellcaster there...Molag, any chance we could replace Chef with a downed troll body?"

The hallway seems a bit crowded with all of us jammed in there.  I'll back out so the more capable fighters can handle this situation.

Molag sheaths his sword, and picks up a partially disembowled troll by the
armpits, and dtags it to the hallway. He hoists it up, and rams it onto
the spikes.

"Once you have gotten all his valuables, it might be worth relieving Dareos with one of the other troll bodies. In the meantime, Chef and Trollbane can start eating away with fire the blinds, so we can open them. Petyr, could you make sure they don't push that body off the spikes?"

Christine looks around the room to see if there are any other hazards, such as doors.

I will move to aim at the door with the body, preparing to loose a bodkin into the heart of anything that tries to move it.  As long as its not the party.

Christine will take the pick in her off hand and stand in a position to throw a fireball through the door as soon as it is opened. Once everyone is in position, she will ask Chris to open the door.

The troll screamed only for a second and is quickly charring. There is no sign of movement, and some foul smoke.

As I cringe at the smell, I try to peer past the smoldering corpse and see beyond the doorway.

I aim for the heart of the nearest troll for a second and ignoring other distractions, I release the arrow.

Haskell heaves his shield up in front of the troll's attack. The shield shakes from the blow making Haskell's arm sting. Haskell brings his own sword in close before swinging out at the troll.

Between Petyr's arrow and Haskell's sword strike, the troll collapses.

As trollbane rises from the remains of the burning troll, a stream of water
sprays at the elemental!

With the two trolls down beyond the door, you can see two archers, a dead
troll and an oddly dressed troll, wearing goggles, with a barrel on his back
and a bellows under one arm spraying water at Trollbane!

Chris says nothing. But Chris never says anything.

Christine takes everything of value from the fallen trolls, and suggests others do the same. She returns it to the room where Voorland is working, to see his progress, before heading to the door the troll was headed for.

After creating another fireball, of course. Because you never go anywhere without a fireball!

Your the mage who can control these hot headed creations, which wonder off on their own; I'd have thought telling them what to do is like spitting on a fire. I'll keep an eye on them but aren't we supposed to be a group and stay together not split up in groups like we have been.

You are right, we should stay as a group, but when we did that last time, we were forced back by sheer numbers. I am hoping that by splitting up, we can have one group moving around and cutting their numbers down, reducing the intensity of the fight around Voorland in order to give him a chance to complete the doors. Our primary mission is to enable Voorland to complete his defences here, and to protect him as he does so.

These fiery little darlings may be hot-headed, but you can be grateful for them when there are trolls bearing down on you in numbers!"

Christine will look over Chef to make sure he is all right, asking for healing if it is needed.

The downed trolls do indeed have pouches tied to their belts, if not pockets in their oddly textured greenish gray leather armor.  In addition to two cheap battle axes, you find five cheap long knives, three cheap axes and two cheap bows (the third one burnt)
there are a pair of quivers with about a dozen arrows each, $33 in copper, and $60 as
3 silver coins. one of the brutes also has a silver nosering.

There are three completely sealed doors out of six, you are just through one, and had just come from another, where there is still a blind with a troll stuck on it.
Voorland and Ronhnie are working on placing a gate over the fourth doorway, with two
elementals and Szuzana holding guard.

Christine will suggest Haskell, herself and the healer take a silver each, and Molag take 20 coppers, with the archer taking the last 13 and as many arrows as he wants. The rest of the items are taken to the floor above for storage to be sold later ( except for the nosering, which she will ask Chris to carry).

There still being a blind and a door to check out nearby, Christine will create another 3d fireball and head to check out that last room behind the trollbearing blind.
