Re: The Northport Adventurer's Guild

Sederic laughs lightly at Grimaldi and his magic, boredom starting to get the best of him. He leans back in his chair and continues to eat, bowl in hand. "Tell me.of this Broderick fellow. Are there tings I must know about him before meeting him? His skills, attitude? I've heard hes a high ranking guild member, but beyond that, i know very little of him," Sederic says, always having believed that preparedness was next to godliness.

Re: The Northport Adventurer's Guild

"I've just met him today. He seems a decent enough fellow, really. He didn't endanger anyone during our mission, he just didn't tell us that we couldn't pass beyond the gate. It made our mission frustrating, in that we were pretty much stuck from advancing literally right from the gate! Eventually, we attracted the slorn and dispatched it with spells and arrows, through the bars. I delivered a coup de grace, thrust through it's eye!"
Grimaldi made a mock sword thrusting-motion, before taking another spoonful.
"He has a pretty wife, that follows him with a heavily armored dwarven bodyguard. Their seneschal, Monsiuer Carruthers, and also a faerie accompanied them. Master Broderick carries a rapier, but I have never seen him use it nor, know much of his reputation."
Grimaldi dunked another piece of bread.
"He seems to be a man of import, from all appearances. He lives in his own private quarters in the guild, and his wife mentioned they are to attend the bishop's ball this evening. That suggests he has many connections within, and without the guild, if this is true."
Grimaldi raised an eyebrow, chewing his food.

Re: The Northport Adventurer's Guild

In reply to Grimaldi (msg # 608):

Melchizadek is waiting around with the others when he overhears Grimaldi's conversation.

"Like hell he didn't...wait, you said he couldn't pass through the gate? His original proposal called for opening the gate straight away...how did he plan on that then if he never could open the gate? Or maybe he just lied to you. Anyway, Helios knows, not I. But his attitude of standing back when it became clear we were in more danger than was anticipated rather than trying to find a safer way to do it, ignoring those who were most experienced with those creatures, was not something I can work with.

Whoever his connections, Sederic, watch out for yourself. Because he wont, if history is anything to go by. Wish you all luck on your next trip with him.
"

He heads back to the other table where Dne is waiting loudly.

"Perhaps we can follow Reanna and Masugatan rather than waiting here. At a distance, of course. Are you all ready to leave once she finds out where to go exactly?"

“Absolutely.  And the sooner the better.  I’m tired of sitting around doing nothing.”

As soon as Melchizidek leaves, Dne follows him.

Re: The Northport Adventurer's Guild

"Thank you, priest. Seems he can be quite the danger, if he's truly that unwilling to heed others advice. If it comes down to it, i won't put my safety on the back burner for him, our lives are just as important as his, regardless if he believes that or not," Sederic says between mouthfuls of food, shaking his head.
"Did him and the priest have some type of disagreement on the outing? And good job, running your sword through the slorn's eye, I've heard they can be quite dangerous. And what of his wife and the dwarf? Are they capable companions?"

Re: The Northport Adventurer's Guild

"Well, the dwarf just stands there staring blankly, but i'm sure this would change in times of danger. He looks quite stout, and wields a hammer. The lady, seems to know some earth magic, and others were more or less low profile attendees. The priest got in some good shots with searing bolts, and a troll archer, with well placed shots, were extremely applicable to our success. Darius, I've seen him with the guild necromancers, though not actively doing legwork. He casted some great spells I observed, and will note later."
Grimaldi mopped up the last dregs of stew, with his bread.
"It's only common sense to look out for one's self, but as far as witholding information
like this, from us.. it isn't personal, it's just guild business."
Grimaldi shrugged, setting his bowl down and rubbed his hands together.

Re: The Northport Adventurer's Guild

Dne shakes his head sadly.  He’s been indoors far too long.  Not that he minded a good sewer adventure, but something about the guild hall made him long for fresh air.  How wonderful it would be to fly like an eagle, or some other bird of prey.

Re: The Northport Adventurer's Guild

Reaching the Guild Broderick asked the adventurer's to wait for him in the common room while he collected their payment here. Before finalizing this task could you provide your views on the enterprise and suggest possible ways it may have gone smoother Thanking Grimaldi, Rafik and Darius for their response, Broderick asked the team to wait for him here informing them that he shall return shortly with their payment.  Accompanied by Clair, Carruthers and Smasher they made his way to his suite. Returning to the common room, Broderick heard the Priests slanderous Comments directed at himself, slandering his character before other Guildsmen. Moving across to Darius, Grimaldi and Rafik, Broderick handed each their agreed payment, asking them to sign a receipt for this payment and stating they should have considered his initial suggestion of dealing with the Slorn as it included aspects they could have employed.
Broderick greeted the guildsmen Grimaldi was associating with enquiring about their well being.

Melchizadek, still waiting for Aegis, notices Brodericks arrival with interest, and waits to see if he intends to honour his contract and pay him as well. But he says nothing, and watches.

Is Aegis still playing?

Re: The Northport Adventurer's Guild

Darius, having entered behind Grimaldi, Broderick, and the others, had mostly stayed in the background, lost in thoughts. He's a gaunt-looking human man, with short dark hair. His silver staff now leaned against the table, his cloak folded besides him as he silently ate his soup, noting down some things on parchment.

As Broderick returned with their payment, he looked up and quickly returned the parchment back to a pocket.

Sitting next to Grimaldi, Sederic nods to Broderick as he approaches, scanning the man head to toe and taking his measure. He does the same to his entourage and then goes back to eating, finishing his stew and bread and pushing his bowl away from him.
"If you could keep your opinions to yourself for once, that would be quite enjoyable," Sederic says, stifling a chuckle and shooting another glance at the woman in Brodericks company. "Besides, how would you know?"

Taking no apparent interest in the priest’s dispute, Dne rises dispassionately from the table and prepares to venture forth.  And none too soon, as far as he’s concerned.

"Master Broderick, this is Sederic. Being that our priest has left us, after talking with this fellow, he's expressed a desire to join us in our endeavor, in Melchizidek's stead.." Grimaldi glanced at the departing priest.

Broderick looked at the palm of his hand which he had offered in greeting to the Guildsmen, and shrugged. The fellow obviously had little social graces. Greetings Sederic you look like you know your way around a blade, May I enquire what if any specialities you may have that can be of use as an upgrade from that obtuse Priest.
