[Private to GM: ooc: Can I make a Current Events (People) roll to see what I know about Estrevan?]

"No, the dead wizard... most likely not the legendary king. Just someone who ended up with his wand. If we had a necromancer we could ask how, I suppose."

He gave the body a good going over, looking for any clues or anything valuable.

Stringfellow examines the body closely, is he completely dead, or still alive at all?

The mage is quite dead, an arrow deep in the chest.
He has a few silver coins... one is a match for Kalvo's  coin.

Kirpich, maybe if you have the capacity you could alert your priesthood to send a representative to make a bid for the item once we're back?"

"Because it would appear that our traitors somehow stumbled upon Esteban's stash," Oren said, speculatively. "This map might lead us to treasures far greater than a missing payroll. It could lead us to the legacy of the lich king."

ooc: Overconfidence self control roll passed.

"We must decide, gentlemen. Do we press on to unimaginable riches? Or be content with what we have?"

He studied the map to determine how much further they had to go.

I am less sure we have all the dots connected.  *IF* they have found this treasure, they may have moved it ... and given the number of agents we have found, we should certainly expect more. Kalvo seems most interested in what we do, which may suggest that they have found the treasure, but cannot deal with the protections and only have recovered small portions of it. Marina, can you tell how old that map might be? Perhaps it is recent and meant to send us to where Kalvo or his boss wants us...

"You should wish that be the case," Oren said. "Kalvo is far less dangerous than whatever defenses Esteban has in his tomb. That golem is just one example. Besides, if he knew where we were going he wouldn't need to send a spy to leave a trail."

Or perhaps he knows where we are going, but wants to follow our progress? I suspect those coins can be found magically. But why would Kalvo's accomplice crush Kalvo's other accomplice?

"Perhaps they're not allies. Perhaps they don't know of each other. Perhaps they oppose each other. Perhaps Kalvo didn't tell him there was a spy, or who exactly the spy was. Or perhaps it's something else entirely. Perhaps Kalvo isn't one of the traitors, or the squashed mage isn't."
