Still on post at the crossing, Mario whistles softly for a moment, then quickly gives it up when the echos make it obvious how badly he's doing it.

Only ink and salt water are poured out, the cuttl3fish and cat are all still in the barrel with the worm halves.

You make enough racket that Nodwin, the laborers AND Mario can hear it.

OOC:  By my reckoning we're much further away from Mario than Nodwin was... but then bunging a lid back on might make more noise than Nodwin's shouting.

Brodak tries to move it  Still heavy!

Jareth helps, "Aye, but we ain't takin it t'e whole way.  Just past where t'e laborers can't see t'e gate.  T'en we go get t'em an t'ey move it with t'e barrow."

With a slightly apprehensive look toward the top of the spiral stairs, Mario takes a couple steps toward the gate room, out of the crossing proper, before shouting.

"Everything okay down there?"

In reply to Jareth Mooncalled (msg # 890):

Gud   Brodak muscles the cask down the corridor about 20 feet.

"It's a bit messy down here, but we're starting to clean it up.  We had some mangy rats, how is it up there, Mario?" Nodwin yells back.

"All quiet up here."

With that task accomplished Jareth heads back with Brodak to collect a pair of laborers and the wheel barrow.

The laborers take the barrel between them, and manage to get it down the hall without spilling it.
"What the devil is in this, it smells like low tide on a hot day, and something is moving in there!"

New Pet

OOC:  Why are they going down any stairs?  Jareth would have directed them to take it to the basement, and later at some point to haul it up and out to the street so we can track down the right sort of person to purchase Brodak's new pet.

Mario, holding his nose, stands back out of the crossing and points toward the basement.  "That's going to stink the whole house up!"

Jar-eth say where

"Put it down t'e catchment tunnel here, outside t'e basement.  We can lock t'e gate here if need be.  I can go find someone that'll buy t'e worm Brodak caught while Nodwin is checkin with t'e necromancer on t'ese corpses.  T'en we can deal with t'e other bodies down stairs.  I recommend Bordak stay here in case t'e worm get lose, can whap it again.  Just don't kill it an it'll stay valuable."

Jareth looks around to see if there are any disagreements.

"An if I no find a buyer for t'e worm, we take it to t'e oty pens with t'e dead guys t'e necromancer don't want.  Too dangerous to leave it lose."

Nodwin grabs the smallest corpse and wraps it in the tarp.
"I'll carry this to the necromancer while the laborers gather the remaining bodies and get them all upstairs."

"I'd wait on that.  If t'ey don't want t'e bodies t'en t'ese guys," he indicates the laborers, "got's to drag t'em back down stairs, 'cause that's where t'e otys is.  I'd say just take a barrow load with ya an leave t'ese bodies for when ya come back."

"Ok, let us get the barrow hauled back upstairs then."

And Worm?

"Best it stay here with you guarding it till I find a buyer."

"Has anyone got a bad cold or hay fever?  If so, you're elected to guard the barrel.  Otherwise, I guess I can."

"Might be best Mario ya keep here at t'e tunnel cross, ya can move any curious Sewage workers along if ya see 'em, an drill any dead guys if we missed one yesterday.  Brodak's ax is t'e thing for t'e worm if it gets out, which it shouldn't, but best is ready in case."

Jareth starts to head out and stops.

"Oh an if ya do meet sewer workers, just tell 'em t'e truth, we clearing out dead cultists.  Te'y won't care an won't want nothing to do with it.  Most likely be glad it ain't t'ey job."
