Re: Second expedition to the abandoned Abbey

In reply to Jednesa (msg # 887):

The robed figure struck by the fireball begins to smolder.

Jednessa repeatedly strikes the other, with a horrible crunch of bone, but the cold of it leaves her weak!
[Private to Jednesa: 12 pts of fatigue!]

Jednesa slumps backwards releasing the robed figure.

OOC:  If it makes a difference she didn't repeatedly strike it, she just grabbed and twisted it's head for tremendous amounts of damage (1.5 times wound modifier for a normal human neck).

In reply to Jednesa (msg # 889):

The ragged pile of bones collapses after the ogress releases it... and starts to reform.

The fire elemental charges the other, and flies off erratically after setting it ablaze.

Christine, distracted by the erratic behaviour of Crispy, does not quite get her spell off right.

"Crispy, are you OK? What is wrong?"

Seeing Jednessa fall, Christine is surprised, and calls out in a loud voice

"Guys, seems we have met 2 skeletons that are too much for Jednessa! Any assistance would be welcome, preferably ranged!

Crispy, get back here and burn these creatures! The other things can wait!

Quint and Stenet are at the side door to the sacristy, Malga'Mar is right behind Chris and Haskell, just b3hind Jednesa's  prone form. A hazy looking Christine  is hovering over the smoking pews, and a faintly bobbing Crispy is diving at the robed skeletons.

Your undead lore reveals that these are wights, extremely hard to kill without silver or enchanted weapons, and able to

"Those aren't skeletons," Azrael called back. "They're wights. A much bigger threat, and self-willed. Don't let them get close enough to touch you - only magic or silver is going to be effective. Let the golem and elemental handle them!"

He moved closer, staying behind the others but entering the church.

ooc: What's the range to the wights? Need to know for casting penalties.

Re: Second expedition to the abandoned Abbey

Azrael gets closer, while the wights are distracted, and casts a spell.

ooc: Getting to 2 yards distance and casting Command Undead.

[Private to GM: It takes 2 rounds of Concentration. If he is uninterrupted (having to defend or being injured will call for a Will roll) he has to spend 1fp/10 character points of the wight. (if you don't have their exact CP value, the book suggests 5-10 fp depending on power level).

Spell roll was a success by 4; the Wight can resist with Will. Of course, if the spell is interrupted and Azrael fails a Will roll, it doesn't get cast and no FP is spent.

If it fails, it is effectively Charmed by Azrael. Duration is 1 minute, half FP cost to maintain after that.

This spell is a variation on Command Spirit found in Pyramid #50:
"Identical to Command Spirit, except that it’s a Very Hard spell, and works on any undead, with or without a body."

Command Spirit is on page 153 of GURPS Magic.

Stenet charges into the chapel moving towards the wights (Move 5).

Quint and Stenet are at the side door to the sacristy...

OOC:  Stenet never left the front of the chapel (he was watching Azrael go to the back, not following him) and returned to the front door when he heard Jednesa fall.

Startled by the ease at which Jednesa falls against these creatures, Malga'mar begins to make some arcane gestures, but appears to forget the vocal component to his spell as his mouth hangs agape and the casting fails.

Re: Second expedition to the abandoned Abbey

OOC: I don't really know if I'm close enough to see them, so if I'm not, I'll move to where I can.

I side-step as needed to get out of anyone's way and give myself a clear shot.  I'm aiming with a Throwing Axe at the closest one.

"Does anyone have something that's particularly useful against these creatures?"
