Don't we have a few cowboy PCs around?

Looks like there's cattle to be rounding up and moving along...

So while we have nothing to do, is there anyone we need to replace?  I can take on a couple, if at least to prove that not all my characters are sweet and naive.

Re: Cooling off period

Steve,

That burning knot in my chest that I told you about, you know the one that went away when I decided to leave the game; well, it's back with a vengeance because rejoining this game goes against my every instinct for self-preservation.

However, my friends’ disappointment is making me cry. I don't think of myself as a 'spoiler'; there is none of that in me despite how you present me as the one who has taken away your enjoyment of the game. The truth about me is that I am a 'pleaser'; I will walk the hard road if it will help a friend. I'm sad that you don't see that. However, the affection and consideration that I hold for you and this team of players has me thinking twice. But before I make a decision to come back there are some things that I need to say to you with everybody listening. If you’d care to hear them then I will go on.

LOL. I'm Steve for those of you who don't know....

Speak up Joanna. Everything should be said for all players and friends to hear. I have nothing to hide any more than you do. It's the best way to work things out. We get outside suggestions that way instead of just arguing amongst ourselves. Wouldn't that be better?

Re: Cooling off period

Separate from our failure to communicate intention regarding Molly and Battles (which I believe could have been resolved with patience and kindness), it was the hurtful things that you said and the tone of your reply that spurred me to leave the game. I am quoting what you said to me here so that my reason for departing the game is understood. If there is anything hurtful or disrespectful that I have ever said to you of the same personal nature I would like you to list every word so that everyone can see.

quote:
Again Joanna you are way off base.

Not once did I say what Molly thought. I wrote what Battles thought of her actions. Everything is from his perspective as you must do when playing a role. You seem to be the only player that doesn't understand that. You are also the only player that insists on being disruptive.

I posted what things looked like from Battles' point of view. Plain and simple. Get over it. You do the same thing and nobody bitches at you. Have you never read a book? Seriously? You write from perspective, not from mind reading. Nothing I wrote says Molly thinks what I wrote, just that she gave that perception to that one individual.

Get over yourself. The only God-moder in this game is you because you insist on pushing things regardless of what the other characters are doing. You're a great writer but not a great RPer.

Heard all the way to Mexico? Really? That's a complaint? Again, that's Battles' perspective and thoughts. Not literal for Christ sake.

You are out of line once again and quite frankly I'm done with you.

You didn't see me post going into the saloon. You have or had room to reply. But you'd have replied to what Battles was thinking which you couldn't know either, and you'd not have been good enough to write it properly because you are to self centered.

And I never said "SHE" was making a spectacle. I write "THE" specticle. That includes everyone. Battles just kicked a man in the butt for Christ sake. You don't think that's not going to draw attention?

Listed as Player or not, Battles is an NPC as are ALL characters I have to play. There is a story line involved. This isn't freeform where we just make things up as we go along. I have plots that will work themselves out and will not allow you or anyone else disrupt them for your own personal story. Yes. I work every characters story into the plots, or there is no use for you playing, but it's about all the players, not just you. You can never seem to realize that.

There was no instance of God-moding at all. I didn't control your or anyone else's character. I wrote from the Battles character perspective. You however have lost all perspective.

You have a chance to reply as does Flossie. If you don't like Battles brushing by put up your hand and stop him. I didn't post the OOC going to another thread so he's right there.

I get PM's objecting to your posts all the time because of the things you do, so I don't care about your objection one bit. Learn to weave your stories in with the others who have just as much passion about their characters as you do, or quit. I don't care one way or the other anymore.

Wow. Flossie that was a great save. If you delete that post I'll be mad. You play your character very well. I'm impressed. Despite my anger with Molly, she's one hell of a writer as well. She's self centered and doesn't understand writing from a characters perspective, but she never has. LOL. She takes everything written literally. She's great at writing her own perspective, but doesn't want others to have the same freedom.

LOL. Flossie it wasn't you at all so don't feel that way. You gave me a great save there in the end, but some people are just antagonistic. My brother for one who is Bumblebee. The player for Molly as well who started it all off. We didn't have much time together, but I'd be happy to play any game with you, and if I ever get the itch to run another myself, which I doubt, you'll be the first I call. ;)

Thank you for the save there.

Something that I cherished as very special was shattered in all of that. Yes, we were in the heated throes of an ideological discussion about Molly and Battles, yes, we were diametrically opposed, and yes we were both upset with on another, but a perspective disagreement is not what my upset with you is about. As I see it you were not speaking to me with the respect that I deserve nor in the way that a friend speaks to a friend.

I feel better for having cleared the air and for removing the 'I wonder what' from everyone's minds. I hope that I have not embarrassed you in saying out loud what upsets me so much. That was not my intention. It may be that you talk to everyone like that when you are bothered  and they take it in stride. Sorry to say, when you spoke that way to me it knocked me down.

Now that I have said my piece I shall gladly hear you out. If you would like to welcome me back into the game after this 'airing of our linen' I will be pleased to continue playing Clementine, but only Clementine.

Re: Cooling off period

Okay, I'm not really good at reading posts sometimes.  And I sure am not good when my emotions up and I'm in a hurry.  So I apologize if I don't get everything here.

First:  I will say that Joanna is a very strong and forceful player.  Some might call that pushy, but I love her perspective and sense of story.  The one time she stepped in to rework a storyline with me, she did it with tact and it worked.  Not everyone likes that, I admit.  I've spent enough time stepping on toes to appreciate when someone tells me what they are doing rather than just doing it.

I won't say anything about the comments.  I loved the interplay in that thread, and it was an awful lot more interesting than Becky mooning over the Marshal and playing little ol' me.  Self-styled lawmen and working girls clash.  That's what happens.

My experience in email and play by mail and all that is that we say awfully hurtful things real easy by typing this stuff.  Its why I hate Facebook these days.  Its so easy to jump in and just spout, like I did earlier.  I don't hate Mav (Steve), nor am I unhappy that Doc doesn't want me to play Clementine and God knows I wish I could be as eloquent as Joanna and Cyrus' player.

So I leave it to the principals.  If you can get along on this, I will try my darndest to make this the best game here, even if I have to play unsafe characters.  I love you both, and respect that you both could air your issues here.

Re: Cooling off period

Of course I want you to stay as Clem, Joanna. I'm afraid the "tone" of my reply will always be the same though. Sometimes players step over the line and as GM I have to reign them back in. I love you and will always love writing with you. I don't treat anyone differently. Ask Jennings. He and I have had our go around. LOL

I'll not repost the things you've said as there is no purpose in it, and it was personal between us.

Clementine has become a very large part of our game interacting with many other characters. Please don't let that slip away. You have to many friends in this game to just quit.

I hope I'm still one of them.
