The Peters Farm

This is the Peters Family farm, now run by the widow Peters. Place all posts that should occur there here. ;)

Re: The Peters Farm

Just on the outskirts of town, the Peters place is a small farm by anyone’s standards. Set back off the main road is a squat little house bordered by a picket fence. Both once painted white but now faded, blistered and peeling under the Texas sun.

A tidy home garden is kept near the kitchen door. In the yard there is a chicken coop, a barn and a covered well. Further out grows a field of wild flowers, mostly bluebonnets, that trails down to a creek that appears for a few weeks each spring.

Re: The Peters Farm

Standing alone on her back porch Temperance Peters looked out on her favorite view. The grazing pasture behind her house transformed into seas of beautiful indigo blooms. This is the peak of bluebonnet season. And the fragrance put her in mind of all that’s right with the world. The twins were wild to be out skipping around in them. Enjoying the wonder of it all. They knew that soon the hot, dry  Texas spring will tell the blossoms to set seed, wither and disappear until next winter’s rain calls them back again.

Oh how the time flies. This mornin' is all but gone and there is still so much for me to do.
She could her the girls finishing sweeping the kitchen floor. Emily swinging the broom and Prudence trying to keep up with the dustpan. They had made the beds and tidied up their little room before setting to work drying and putting away the breakfast dishes. Now they were almost finished with the morning chores.

“Em, Prim put away those things and hang up your aprons. Then bring me your comb and brush we’ve got business in town.”
