Re: Assault on Eel's End

The bomb drifts up lazily from your hand Toke. It slaps against the ceiling just to the things right. As the vial explodes some of the caustic elements splash against it's side. The Whatever-It-Is makes a sort of screechy sound and convulses as it slaps at the burning areas. It shudders and then droops, hanging by one hand from the ceiling, swaying back and forth like some Inn sign caught in a strong wind.

Selvin and Toke, you think it's dead. Probably.

The thug steps sideways to avoid Vaddis' wild swing and begins to bring his sword down on Malder's head. Tarrov's whip slashes at his wrist. Not securing it, but it's enough to make his swing go wide as well. The blade crashes down on the haft of the spear and slices it neatly in half. Malder collapses to the floor.

The other thug advances, thrusting his sword towards Vaddis  . The paladin steps aside neatly. Verik notches an arrow to his bowstring.

Toke and Selvin, you think the ettercap is dead. But it's hard to tell from this angle and he is still attached to the ceiling with one hand. Tarrov and Vaddis, there are two thugs, one of whom is advancing on Vaddis. Verik is set to fire next round. Please post actions.

Re: Assault on Eel's End

Toke's gaze was torn between the apparently dead creature and his definitely still alive comrades currently fighting. He hoped his next decision wasn't going to haunt him like he was sure his dreams would be. Leaving Selvin trapped, he ran to aid Tarrov and Vaddis. Upon realizing his allies locked in melee, he called out to them. "Get back, incoming!" He held the components in his hand, ready to toss them into the scuffle.

OOC:

Move action to enter the fray. (If too far away, spend a second move action to get there)

Standard action (If possible): Ready Action: Throw Bomb at the group (trying to get as many as possible within the splash) Contingency: When Tarrov and Vaddis are no longer in the splash radius.

Toke rolled 11 using 1d20+5. Bomb to hit.
Toke rolled 11 using 1d4+7. Damage: (8 Splash [DC 16]).

Re: Assault on Eel's End

Selvin, as you wrench your arm free of the goo, you hear something. Someone is screaming on the floor above. There are other voices being raised as well. The Whatever-It-Is sags a little. You flinch, thinking it's stirring, but it appears the ceiling above it's still wall-crawling hand is moving. Suddenly a section of the ceiling comes away. You realize with a start there was a trap door in the ceiling. Whatever-It-Is...Was...must have been trying to open it and now it's body weight has finished the job. Whatever-It-Is slumps to the floor. Above the trapdoor opens into a large room. You can see a man dressed in black leather screaming as spiders swarm over his body. Other men, thugs by the look of them, are yelling, apparwntly confused by the whatever's going on up there.

One of the thugs looks down at you through the trap door and says, "What tha hell..."

The thug becomes so much next week's special at All World's Meat under Vaddis' blade. The paladin backs up when there's a sharp pain in his side. Vaddis, you have an arrow sticking through your ribcage just under your armpit. 5 pts damage.

The last upright thug changes direction towards Tarrov as Toke appears in the doorway. Verik is nocking another arrow and shouting, "Don't let him throw that phial!"

Toke, Vaddis is clear if the target is Verik. Not clear if the target is the thug. Vaddis, the thug isn't too bright. He's charging past you. You get an Attk of Opportunity if you want it. Tarrov, Verik is within range.

Selvin, the trapdoor is ten feet off the floor. Besides the leather and spider clad doofus, you see three thugs up there. But it sounds like there are more out of your field of vision.

Tarrov grinned as he briefly glanced up at the confusion above.  Looked like the ettercap really was dead and the spiders were attacking Devargo, just as advertised.  Tarrov loved it when a plan came together.

But there were still things to do down here, the bard reminded himself as he saw Verik's bolt embed itself in Vaddis' ribs.  He struck out with his whip again, aiming for the traitor's legs to knock him prone for Vaddis' retribution . . .

OOC:

Selvin struggles to free himself as the spider-creature apparently dies. Then the trap door opens and he sees someone up there being attacked by spiders. He assumes that is their target. He hopes it is anyway.

Then one of thugs up above notices him. Selvin grins widely up at him. "Uh...hi! Bye!"

Then he darts around out of the room towards the rest of his group and the fighting.

Re: Assault on Eel's End

The thug makes a squishy noise as Vaddis' blade comes down on his shoulder. Verik attempts to side step but only manages to place his foot right where Tarrov's whip ends up. He goes down in an undignified thump.

Toke, you ready your bomb to throw. Selvin,  you come up behind Toke.

The thug whirls on Vaddis but his swing is a rather wild flailing action. His blade passes through empty air.

Toke, only clear targets are Verik or the sleeping thugs who are groaining right now.

Selvin took stock of the situation for only a moment. He had dropped his crossbow when he had gotten 'gunked' by the spider-creature-thing, so he had only his ally's claws and fangs. He charged towards Verik, leaving the sleeping thugs sleeping for the moment.

Tarrov nodded grimly to himself as Vaddis slashed at the thug and closed with Verik; the holy warrior had a big advantage over their erstwhile ally with him lying on the ground.  Meanwhile, the bard stepped back, lashing his whip out yet again in an attempt to yank the thug's weapon out of his grasp, but this time he failed to get a solid grip on the weapon.

Tarrov grimaced as he brought his whip back yet again.  Next time.

OOC:

12:34, Today: Tarrov Garrick rolled 10 using 1d20+6. Disarm Thug.

Re: Assault on Eel's End

Verik sidesteps Toke's bomb but not the droplets of burning damn-that-smarts that splatter his side. He yelps and fumbles at the sword hilt he was trying to pull. The yelp becomes a wet sound as Selvin's teeth rip into his shoulder and claws rip into his belly. He instead fumbles for something in his belt pouch.

The thug rolls to avoid the sting of Tarrov's whip but only manages to roll into the swing of Vaddis' blade. The thug gurggles, shivers, and lays still, bleeding out onto the deck.

Malder is trying to push the spear through himself. From down the hallway.

You all can hear more boots coming down the small side hall to the east.

Re: Assault on Eel's End

Malder coughs and spits blood. The wound is nasty but he is still concious for the moment.

Verik shouts something. "Down here!" or "Hurry!" or some such. However, a louder voice...a woman's...screams from somewhere down the hallway, "Quick! The guard are taking the pier!" The voice sounds like Helvara, the madam of the brothel.

You hear shouts and the bam bam bam of boots on the floor turns and disappears the way they came. Verik, standing there bleeding as Selvin's jaws tear through his clavicle, screams, "DAMN YOU!!!"

Whoever was coming down the hallway has turned tail and gone back the way they were coming...

Selvin looked away finally once Verik was down. He spit on the man. "Back-stabbing bastard!"

He turned back to the others. "Didja hear that? Do we go up an' make sure the job's finished or go check out what's goin' on outside?"

Re: Assault on Eel's End

Sorry folks. I was ill when I wrote my last post, so I can see where it has caused some confusion.

Verik is indeed down on the ground (Dead now probably). The three thugs Tarrov hit with a sleep spell are still snoring away.

There were reinforcements coming down the side hall to the east. However, a voice behind them...you think it was Helvara the Madam's...called them back, saying the guard was raiding the pier. The 'boots' seem to be retreating the way they came.

I'm working up the next post. Sorry again for the trouble.

In reply to The Dealer (msg # 92):

Verik raises a hand as Vaddis slices downwards. It does him little good. The blade passes through his chest and he begins to bleed out.

The noise from down the hall lessens. Above however, there seems to be some kind of melee. Through the ceiling, you can hear what sounds like fighting on the deck above.

A moment later, Helvara herself peeks around the corner of the hallway to the east. She glances around nervously. "Is it done?"

Selvin gave a grin at Helvara. "Good thinkin' on callin' the thugs away. Shouldn't need t'kill 'em all." He gave Verik's corpse a small kick and then started heading to the way up (not the hole in the ceiling but the actual way up that Helvara came down).

"Helvara!"  Tarrov said with relief.  "It's good to see you.  I think we've accomplished our goals, but we cannot say for sure.  I think I saw Devargo being attacked by his own spiders, but it's hard to say."

He followed the rest of the group as they began heading abovedecks, continuing his conversation with the madame.  "What does the situation look like up there?"

Re: Assault on Eel's End

Helvara laughs a nit nervously. "About what you would imagine. Devargo was set upon by his own...'pets'. Now his crew is fighting amongst themselves or looting what they can." She holds up a hand to stop you all from advancing down the hallway. "I would let them finish themselves off. One way or the other, Devargo's organization is coming apart at the joints." Her smile is a bit more satisfied at the thought. "What about your allies? How soon will they move in to take over?"

Malder is gurgling on the floor behind you. He seeks to lift himself up.
