Meanwhile, Back Up on the Street

The drunk you passed two blocks back said the sick hospital was this way. But he was a drunk...

You stop at an intersection and wipe sweat off your brow. The heat of the day is already oppressive and it isn't even noon yet. The slight breeze is more of an insult than a relief. All it does is waft the smell of rotting fish and desperation from the piers of this section of Korvosa inland. This city...

You look around for this sick hospital. It's supposed to be the headquarters for those physicians the Queen hired on and serve as their main treatment facility. If you can locate it, it would be valuable knowledge before you make your rounds.

So why is it so hard to find?

You decide to walk down one of the streets and see what's around the next corner. The worst that will happen is you'll just get more lost. And maybe you'll get lucky. Maybe.

Just as you step into the next intersection you hear a scream. Startled you look in the direction it came from. Across the way is another warehouse, though it appears to currwntly being used for different purposes. From inside a number of people, many obviously ill with the plague, are stumbling...in some cases crawling...out the door. Several of the plague masked, trench coated Queen's Physicians are running between them. Three to be exact. At first it seems the doctors are trying to help the patients stand. But then, as you watch horrified, you realize it is just the opposite. Hey are trying to lay them down. Permanently.

One woman, her face badly scarred by the boils that come in the second stage of the plague and crawling on the ground, screams as one of the doctors comes up behind her and kicks her in the side of the head. Another doctor wields a sharp scalpel and slashes the arm of an elderly man. The third and last doctor is choking a young woman.

Ypu seem to have found the sick hospital. And it is indeed quite sick.

Re: Meanwhile, Back Up on the Street

Chandanar stares appalled at the doctors as they attacked the diseased. His hesitation is only brief though, feeling his anger rise.
"Stop this at once!", he shouts as he closed in.

The young cleric quickly prays to Iomedae to stop the doctor from choking the young woman.

How far to reach the nearest doctor ?

Re: Meanwhile, Back Up on the Street

You are twenty feet away from the scene. We'll say it's twenty feet roughly to each doctor. Do me a favor and give me your DC to save when you cast a spell. For you it should always be Spell level+Wis bonus+10

Doctor Chokey stiffens in mid choke. The woman falls out of his hands and starts to crawl away.

The other two Doctors look up at you. One of them makes a hand sign at the other. Four fingers held aloft with the thumb set across the palm. The other Doctor nods and turns, rushing at you.

Your move.

Standard Action: Attack
Chandanar Jedekiah rolled 22 using 1d20+6 with rolls of 16. Attack.
Chandanar Jedekiah rolled 3 using 1d8+2. Damage.

Chandanar mutters an expletive as he realizes that he had misjudged the distance to the masked men.
No more time to prepare, he thinks as he closes on the man rushing at him, drawing his blade. With a stroke at the man's torso he tries to stop the man's rush.

No idea how I missed that. Sorry.

You cut across the doctor as he pivots and slashes at your face. You side step easily however and press on.

You can give me two actions now. We'll speed through. Thanks.

The Doctor ducks and then pivots, more a dancer than a fighter. But he still manages to avoid the swipes of your blade. You knock one of his counters away, but he lands one across your side as you try to recover your stance.

Behind him more patients are coming out from the sick hospital. Fortunately, the doctors seem to be more concerned with you at the moment and so ignore them.

The cleric continues to fight the evasive doctor, contemplating to drop his shield in order to cast another spell as he just was unable to dispatch the enemies.

The doctor seems to sense a weakness in your stance and moves to take advantage. Perhaps it was a feint on your part, or just good fortune, but the move opens him up. You soon do just that. He falls to the ground, clutching his side.

A knife whirls past your head. You pivot to see Doctor Not Frozen pulling another knife from his jacket and loading it up to hurl at you...

The knife thrower tosses off his next blade. It somehow manages to get over the top of your defense and smashes ahainst your left shoulder. Fortunately it is the hilt that makes contact. You can see the edge glint in the sunlight as it whips upwards and feel a slight sting against your ear. But then the knife is clattering on the road behind you.

The doctor moves to avoid you...or tries. One of the patients is in his way. It hampers him long enough for you to slam into him. He manages to stay on his feet...

Having no intent to actually kill the foes - he certainly intends to question them later - Chandanar moves away from the foe he had just dispatched and closes in on the third and last mask-wearing doctor.
Again, though, his attack is not worthy of a servant of The Inheritor, his blade misses his foe.

The cleric grinds his teeth as the blade slips beneath his arm. Chandanar had been lucky so far that the doctors had not attacked him all at once or he would lie in the dirt already by now. He tries to keep the other foes in sight, maybe they would rise again.
He realizes that the people around him would be killed by the remaining doctor if he would not be able to dispatch him and so he strikes out again at the man.

You make a solid blow. The sword in your hand rings from the blow like the clapper in a bell. You almost hear a ringing sound. No. Wait. That is a ringing sound you hear. Unfreezy hits you on your head with the end of the blade hilt.

The two of you seperate, giving you time for a glance around.

The other two aren't rising. They must not have been very stout. This one though is a bit tougher...

He steps towards you, angling his blade to penetrate your defenses...

He ceases his attacks after your first strike. The second makes sure he won't be rising back up.

You step back, takin a deep breath and looking around. The patients seem to be running...or more accurately crawling...away from the sick hospital. In a moment you can see why. Smoke is beginning to pour out from the front door. It appears there is a fire inside the building.

Re: Meanwhile, Back Up on the Street

Chandanar shakes his head as he wipes off the blood on his blade on the cloak of the felled man.
Despite his repeated appeals these doctors had been unwilling to talk to him. Had they gone insane ? Why ever would they kill the plague afflicted ? Surely that was no way to deal with the Blood Veil. He wonders if they had acted on command by the city authorities, some sort of deranged plan to contain the plague. Only then does he realize that said authority would be the Queen herself.
He ponders healing the least wounded doctor and bind him to be interogated later, but there were more pressing issues at hand, namely the sick who fled from the fire.

Chandanar stoops down to one of the patients.
"What has happend here ? Do you know why the Queen's doctors attacked you ? Or who set the building on fire ? Are there still people inside ?", he asks the badly scarred woman.
But there is only stark terror in her eyes and so he repeats the most immediate question.
"Are there still people inside ?"
The woman, however, is only focused on leaving and stares back numbly at him.
Muttering an expletive at the strange turning of events, Chandanar makes for the building to check out for himself. If there were still people inside they would need to be released, even if that meant risking further spreading of the disease.

Chandanar runs to the door and cautiously opens it...

Re: Meanwhile, Back Up on the Street

A few more people are scrambling out the door as you make your towards it. They are more patients and hurry past you as quickly as they can.

Inside the scene is urgent. A few patients are still inside, apparently too weak to rise form their beds. Other patients are laying on the floor, dead not from disease but from stab wounds.

A doctor is busy stabbing another woman who is laying in her bed. She is screaming, "I didn't hear! I didn't hear!" With a thrust of his knife, the doctor makes sure she will never tell.

The interior is a wide open space filled with rows of beds. You would guess it is a converted warehouse. In the back is a sealed off area, probably a storage space. The smoke is coming from there.

In the back corner of the room there is yelling. Not the cries of people in pain, but an urgent shout, "Just get all the papers for now. Seal off the entrance below. They'll be fine."

You can not see the one shouting from where you are, but the voice sounds like Davalus. The expert physician brought by the Queen to lead the effort against the plague.

The doctor who stabbed the woman has noticed you. He flips the knife in his hand upwards and makes ready to throw it.

He is about twenty feet away. Roll init and state your action please.
