Re: Off To The Cinderlands

In reply to Zuni Runesong (msg # 82):

The Reds devotion must be based on faith, because there sure isn't a lot of coin in their pockets.  You do find a purse on the leader with two gems and a few coins 150 gp total.  You also find a cache of potion bottles.  Four filled with purple liquid-healing-and three filled with a black, tarry looking goo.  From the smell it seems to be some kind of poison.  A last bottle contains a reddish liquor.  Some kind of concoction designed to help withstand the element of fire Fire resistance.  Two draughts worth.  The healing potions are all Cure Serious.  The black goo will add an extra 1d20 dam to slashing or piercing attacks.  12 uses total

The wand you had been threatened with is a dud.  Just enchanted to have a magical aura on it.  Probably was created to force your attention on the one holding it.

There are three light crossbows, all of master work quality.

Red Leader appears to have the choicest bits.  He has two rings, one enchanted to help keep one's movements limber and one which seems to kick in to protect the wearer during falls Ring of Free Action and Feather Fall.  Lastly, he has a necklace depicting a preying mantis.  It is made of silver and inlaid with ruby.  Chandanar frowns at it.  I think it's the symbol of his diety

The necklace is a holy symbol worth 350 gp

Zuni pocketed the gems and the holy symbol.  "I'll hold on to these for now.  We can divvy it up later." she said before turning her attention towards the vials and the rings.  She gathered them up and turned towards the others.  "Anyone have a preference for these?"

Zuni Runesong:
Zuni rubbed a hand on her ribs where the Assassins punch had caught her.  "Fine here.  Maybe a bruise in a bit but otherwise okay.  Nicely timed arrival, Belgar.  Good to see you back upon the field of battle."

Zuni started to sift through the pockets and clothing of the assassins.

Good ta be here.

Re: Off To The Cinderlands

"I'll grab a healing potion. Seems I've been needing those more and more every day," Izzick says as he reaches out for one of the purple vials. "We can split the gold evenly if that works out for everyone." But the spoils weren't all they had, and soon he was looking towards their living assassins. "Who wants the first go at trying to open up their traps? I doubt they're just going to be giving up answers." He certainly missed Tarrov now.

What does the Ring of Free Action do?

Zuni tosses a ring to Belgar while she turns to Izzick.   "I don't have a lot of experience with intimidating assassins.  I suppose we can't do anything worse than try and see what happens."

Sorry Izzy.  I keep going back to the original D&D name for this item.  In PF it's a Ring of Freedom of Movement.

So who's up on questioning?

Selvin thought for a moment and then gave a shrug. "Since....I'm the one who flies everywhere, it might not be a bad idea for me t'have the Ring o'Feather Fall jus' in case somethin' happens...but I'm not really worried about it. If one o'you wear it I might could carry ya sometimes but I dunno."

He then put on his 'war face' and slowly stalked towards the assassins. "I know. Yer tough. Yer scary. An' ya think ya won't talk ever. But I'm bettin' after I finish eatin' the firs' one o'ya the secon' one'll talk." He grinned widely as he moved closer and his symbiote started to growl. "An' we're...SO...HUNGRY!"

Well that's the trick isn't it boys?  Dien's easy, but us do gooders aren't in the business of killin' if we can avoid it.  But we can't just let ya go now can we?  How about this?  We strip ya down and tie ya together in some kinda kinky embrace?  Bet ya'd have fun explaining that to her buddies when they find ya.

In reply to Belgar Ironclad (msg # 91):

Red Leader laughs.  Our men know what kind of man I am..  He can't see Crossbow giving him the skunk eye.  That threat is not going to get you very far, Red Leader finishes.

Crossbow kind of studies you all.  He seems a bit more wavering in his faith.

Also, his roll was not so good.

You think Crossbow might break.  If you could just push him over the edge...

Crossbow might be more susceptible to the monster scare now Selvin.  Or whatever else ya'll might think up.  Next post, besides the rolls for intimidate or what have you, please give me the questions you want to ask.  Everyone can chime in.  I'll assume you don't ask if the roll is low.  That will help speed things up.

Thanks

Re: Off To The Cinderlands

"The leaders not going to talk no matter what you say so let me take a crack," Izzick says as he raises his hands up, a soft glow from a channeled spell. "It's easy enough to make someone talk with a spell. More they fight it, more likely there is to be damage afterwards." It was a bluff, but a damn good one as his fingers pressed against the head of the skull of the leader. "We'll get one of them still able to talk I'm sure."

Casting Touch of Idiocy on the leader, not actually in hopes of making him talk but mostly as a fear tactic against the Crossbow guy.

DC17 or the leader loses 6 points of Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma

Red Leader looks at you square in the face Belgar and says MOM!!!

Crossbow has had enough.  We were simply told to watch for your group and make sure there were no survivors.  The orders came down from Inys.  She is leading the expedition into the Cinderlands.  I know the Queen of Korvosa wants you dead.  But that is all I know.

Selvin chuckled slightly at Izzick's performance and handiwork. He gave a nod. "Nice! I like it!"

He glared at the crossbow guy. "How much of a lead does the 'expedition' have on us? An' what're they after in the Cinderlands?"

Belgar raises an eyebrow uncomfortably, and looks back and forth at his friends before turning back to red leader.  Um...  Its OK...  Son?  .. He looks again to Zuni and shrugs helplessly.  Coughing he raises his voice and with a terrible female impersonation he continues, M..  Momma loves you...?

"Well, now we know for sure the Queen doesn't like us. Hell of an enemy," Izzick said as he looked to each of the others. "So seems we're looking for the Cinderlander once we get there. Enemy of our enemy and all that? I just wonder how much he can help us against an army of knights, assassins, and whatever the hell else she has cooking up."

In reply to Izzick (msg # 101):

The Cinderlander is a fairly infamous mercenary operating within the Cinder Lands.  But the specifics of why he's so infamous aren't well known.  Supposedly he has some kind of feud with some of the Barbarian Clans.

Anybody else?  If not, we shall move along to the next bit tomorrow.  Thanks all.

Zuni hid a chuckle behind her hand as Belgar imitated a woman's voice in response to the Red Leaders pleas.  It was just too humorous a scene.  The fierce dwarf playing mother to a Red Mantis Assassin.  She took a moment to clear her throat regain her composure.

"Maybe he has an army of his own?" she replied to Selvins words.  "If it's just a group of Red Mantis assassins then maybe we can deal with them, but Queens guards?  With all the turmoil going on in the city, why send forces outside to attack the Cinderlander?"

In reply to Zuni Runesong (msg # 103):

Chandanar clicks his tongue and looks at the nearby river.  Maybe they aren't going to attack the Cinderlander.  Maybe he's an ally and not an enemy.  One way or the other though, there's a lot we don't know.  But don't we always have fun finding it out?

You guys can finish up any conversation you wish here.  I am working on the new thread and will have it up tomorrow.

Let me know please if there are any other questions for Crossbow.  Thanks

Crossbow shrugs. I wasn'the part of the team our commander took to meet him. I did overhear them saying something about a village north of Kaer Maga. Ostul or some such.

A map confirms a trading post north and west of Kaer Maga named Ostul...

Re: Off To The Cinderlands

Belgar keeps to himself at the bazaar and does a bit of people watching.  Trying to pick up how the locals deal with the local climate.  He then works his way out to the edges of town and tries to get a lay of the land and assess what supplies they may need in this strange place before heading back for a bit of shopping.

07:53, Today: Belgar Ironclad rolled 23 using 1d20+5.  Knowledge: Geography.

At the bazaar, he'll first try and locate an amulet of natural armor.  After that, he'll see if he can find anything that would help them survive in the cinderland wilds such as a belt of foraging.
