First off, my sincere apologies! It was beyond my control but I didn't mean to disappear on you and it is NOT a reflection on you all or the game. I had a sickness and disease combination that hospitalized me and then required a dramatic life change, and I didn't really have access to the internet.

If you are still okay with me being in the game, I'm slowly trying to get things back to normalcy and would be happy to try and ease back in. If not, I completely understand.

Yep.  You only have 12 uses and it's a one hit and done type thing i.e. you can't coat your weapons in it and play the rest of the game with the bonus.  So pick your applications of it wisely.

That said, don't be surprised if you see more of it in the future.  Both on your and your enemies weapons (bwah ha ha).  Trust me.  You'll need it in some of the events ahead.

I think Zuni's been the one saying "Let's split this up later," so I kind of figured she had it written down somewhere. On his person, Izzick's got 771 gp

Don't forget Zuni didn't join until Book 3. And this group has spent almost none of it's ill gotten gains. So you've been hauling around a lot of gems, jewelry, etc.

Also, as some of you seem to have figured out, I'm letting you each load up on one or two decent magic items. I think the best magic weapon between the lot of you is a +1 ghost touch rapier. So don't go nuts on me, but do consider something to add a little oomph. You'll need it. Especially if we get to Book 5

Question, would a +2 shield work both as armor bonus and enhancement bonus for attacking?

I've been keeping a tally of the loot that we've acquired through the adventure, at least that which hasn't been divided up at the time.

Should we split up the treasure as we go or do it all at once in between?

Belgar, from what I'm seeing in the Paizo discussions on the topic, the bonus would apply either to defense or offense.  So you'd have to decide whether the bonus is for attack or defense.

I would allow you to split it between the two:  +1 for defense and +1 for offense.

Zuni, up to ya'll.  I'm lump summing the goods ya'll got before you started recording.

- 3 x Black Goo vials (4 uses each, 1D20 to damage)
- Ring of Feather Fall
- Ring of Freedom of Movement
- Gems (150gp)
- Holy Symbol (350gp)

I think that we've given out the rings already.

Excluding the rings and black go vials, that should be about 500gp each (Split 5 ways).

No DR yet. I could take it at this level but unlikely to.

Also, not saying you shouldn't take it, but Selvin does have Glitterdust. He doesn't get to cast spells a LOT, mind you, but he does have it. lol

Hey Folks. I hate to make this announcement, but I will be resigning my games. I found out Friday that I will be doing a lot of travel for work throughout the rest of the year. I simply won't have that much free time until February.

I do hate not being able to see things through. But I just don't think I'll be able to commit the time or energy necessary.

Awww I can't say I'm happy to hear that even if I understand your reasons. This game made it further than any Pathfinder game I've been in on this site (and most games I've seen on this site to be entirely honest) and we've seen half the party switch in and out. Sad to see this one go. :(

No worries.  This AP gets really twisty around here.  So I figured one would be needed.

So.

You guys managed to rescue the King's old steward from the weretiger clan who were holding him hostage.  You then escaped the city.  The steward told you a story that offers some insight into what happened with the Queen.  The palace is built on the foundation of an old ziggurat that dates back to the days that the barbarian tribes ruled the lands Korvosa sits on now.  The Queen was wandering around in the dungeon levels of it when she found a heretofore forgotten secret chamber.  Inside was a mysterious dragon skull.  The Steward saw her touch the skull and collapse.  When she arose, she seemed a different person.

So your team came to the Cinderlands to consult with the decendants of the barbarians, the Cinderland tribes.  You are being pursued by the Red Mantis Death Cult and have learned that they may have hired a famed local bounty hunter, the Cinderlander, to help hunt you down.

Anyway, you arrived in the Cinderlands and managed to learn that one of the tribes, the Sun Tribe a/k/a your buddy Krojun's homies, probably has the info you need.  But there's a catch.  Of course there is.  The Sun Tribe really hates outsiders.  So in order to get them to trust you enough to provide the information, you will have to shed your outsider status and become tribesmen.

Unfortunately, the only way to do that is to enact an old legend where you survive getting swallowed by a purple worm.  And you have to do that in front of a witness the tribes will trust.  It was suggested you head to the Moon Clan, as one of their members is a Truth Teller, a man recognized as honest by all the Cinderland tribes.

In order to curry favor with the Moon Tribe, you stopped at an old ruin to get a sacred object of the Moon Clan's.  You found it, an old robe worn by one of their priestesses.  Along the way you met Sial, an obviously evil priest who seems to know who you are.  He is accompanied by a female demon who is covered in chains.  Sial has proposed an alliance between your group and his.  He says that he has interests in the Queen's activities, but otherwise has been a bit cagey.

You are standing outside the ruin speaking to Sial and Krojun.  Krojun is about to return home to the Sun Tribe, but has offered you some guidance on where to find the Moon Tribe:  at another one of their sacred sites, the Moon Tower, located in the northwest corner of the Cinderlands.

Sial is offering the alliance.

That's great news Selvin.  I can summarize pretty easily:  Your group now to pick up a 'truth teller'.  Someone the barbarian tribes recognizes as an honest person.  The truth teller will act as a witness when you guys go and allow yourselves to be swallowed by a purple worm. The creepy priest Sial and his demon dressed in a chainmail bikini are accompanying you.

You were also told that the Cinderlander, an infamous local outlaw, was hunting your group.  So you all decided to head for the place the truth teller was at as quickly as possible.  Unfortunately, you've been ambushed.  The Cinderlander and his employers, the Red Mantis, set a trap in a canyon using a bunch of giant stone crabs (literally giant crabs with stone like shells).

Your group is now fighting the stone crabs and some Red Mantis assassins.  The Cinderlander was sniping you from a high cliff, but Izzy and Zuni managed to slow him down.  He is currently in an ice cage.  Two more Red Mantis showed up on the cliff.  One of them is obviously a spell caster and is about to cast a spell.  But that's Zuni's problem and maybe Izzy's.  You are currently cutting up a bunch of giant stone crabs.  You've killed one.  You have two more on you.

Clear as mud?  Sorry.  This part of the AP gets very, very busy.

Also, we are pretty much at a one or two post a week rate now.  So don't feel any stress.

I think the roof might be safer (as in potentially less trapped?) but I don't have a preference really.

I assume none of us have heard of that before - but - I am inclined not to give it to her since A) it's probably the tribe's, and B) she called us do-gooders, which seems like it might indicate she's bad so giving her a magic item sounds like a bad idea as well.

But what about you other two players?

Giving a mysterious but named arrow to a more than likely baddie, a bad idea?  Naw...

I'm leaning towards not giving to her also, but I think that we need more information.  Maybe it's just a harmless arrow?

I'm also against her - after all, she's the one taking over the tribe's headquarters. Even if they're the bad guys, well, we're trying to get on THEIR side.

I'm going to be moving this weekend.  Currently we don't have internet access at our new place but it's something that we're going to be looking into once we get there.  I don't know when I'll be able to get back online again, since this is an international move my cell phone internet access will be expensive.

Selvin, as a suggestion, you might want to cast dispel if you can. Deeper darkness is "This functions like darkness, but even creatures with darkvision cannot see within the spell’s confines."

Hmm. Dispel would help everyone if I make it, that's fair.

See In Darkness is an ability that says: An eidolon can see perfectly in darkness of any kind, including that created by deeper darkness.

Oh alright! I thought it was just dark vision. Hey if one of us can see that's better than a dispel that might not work.

That said, everybody out of the darkness bubble so Izzy here can nuke it.

Izzick, Selvin only was able to take a 5ft step in order to not eat 2 AoOs and whatever else, so he can't get out of the bubble this round, just FYI.

Hi folks.  The bulk of my move has been completed, though I still have a bunch of boxes to unpack.  the most important part, my internet access, has been installed so I'm back on line...at least back on line without paying a ton of fees for data access through my cell phone.

Lol! Been playing 5E so much, got worried that I would have to concentrate on the Greater Invisibility spell and make checks to maintain when taking damage. Ah, mixing up systems.

I on the other hand am finally learning 5e. I was super late to the party on this one lol, but I've been too hooked on Exalted 3rd edition.

I haven't played 5e yet.  Most of my convention time has been spent with Pathfinder.

What's your guys impression of 5e?  I haven't really looked at.

Love it for the most part. It's simple enough, but also has some fun complexities. I do sometimes miss 'leveling up' in earlier editions as there isn't that much to do on many levels, but overall it's pretty good.

2E and 3.5 D&D (and Pathfinder) have a lot of math to them. 5E is more simple but still has mechanics.

Yeah it's all the design points for 4th edition (Simplify the game, stream line it, keep it fun) without....messing all of it up. It's very smooth feeling.

Well folks.  I guess we have about another month to month and a half of posts and we'll be done with book 4.

I wanted to take a moment to say thanks for sticking with me.

Also, wanted to talk about Books 5 and 6.  I'm pretty sure you've noticed that I have hacked sections of this AP.  Overall though, I've stuck to the official plotline.

Book 5 is pretty much a dungeon crawl.  A really intricate dungeon crawl.  I will be hacking it pretty hard, but will try to make it as entertaining as possible.

Book 6 is kind of a different fish.  If I had to nominate a 'worst AP supplement by Paizo', book 6 would be in my top 3 choices.  Basically it comes down to 'end it however you want to and oh yeah.  Here's a mini dungeon crawl at the end'.

I bring this up because one thing your PCs need to think about is:  what are we going to do when we get back to Korvosa?  They'll be getting the information to explain what's going on soon.  And then they'll be able to use that information to obtain something that will give them a fighting chance.  But after that, the railroad ends.  Ya'll will need to decide how you want to proceed against the Queen.

If you want to lead a revolution, you may want to enlist allies here.  The barbarian tribes would come in handy.  And a halfling who can control a giant purple worm might also be a good friend.  Tarrov (remember him?) is back home, trying to slap together a resistance.

There's of course other avenues you can explore.

It is not something that has to be decided now.  We probably won't get done with Book 5 until near the end of the year.  But I did want to throw it out there so you could start evaluating what resources you have and what you may want to develop.  I am willing to be flexible.

Like I said.  Just wanted to plant that seed so ya'll can start thinking about how you want to grow it.

I've noticed with a lot of the APs, books 5/6 tend to be less than great. I think this is because they couldn't get EXP tiers from 3.5 (that was, for some reason, not part of the SRD). So the late levels are a LOT more fights than intended even on the fast EXP track. So they pack those adventures full of dungeon.

Zuni was planning on choking out the Cinderlander, because she can and she hasn't really choked out enough people so far, but are there any other suggestions?

Zuni, you've won the Cinderlander Model 444 heavy masterwork repeating crossbow.  This fine wood and metal trimmed beauty has been customized by the Cinderlander and has the following bonus features:

-It is masterwork quality.
-It is set to hold seven bolts as opposed to the usual five.
-It has additional punch giving an additional +2 to damage

The Cinderlander carried the following 'bolt cases' on him.  Each case is loaded with seven bolts of the following types:

-4 cases of +1 bolts
-2 cases with Slow poison (Save vs DC12)

What do you think, Izzick? Selvin's got a total of 0 for stealth due to Size. Chandanar is likely not stealthy in his armor. Zuni's probably pretty stealthy. I don't know about the rest.

Yeah my stealth is +2 just from Dexterity so I say let's cover ourselves in buffs and go hog wild.

Oh. Just had an idea. Having a distraction would likely help us move past these guys instead of fighting them all, wasting a lot of time and a lot of resources.

What if I summon 1d4+1 flying creatures, like say....lantern archons or dire bats above them to attack them while we enter the building?

Instead of us casting like 4 spells now plus the healing afterwards? Even if only most of them don't see us, that's good right? Also, if we go in, we can bottleneck them at the doors right?

What do you think Izzick? Sorry, not trying to be a pain here, if you really want to fight them we can.

No I think that's a better idea - a hell of a lot better than crossing our fingers on those +0 Stealth rolls.

Giving all my games a heads up:  April and May will probably be wonky months for me.  I have a couple of surgeries (nothing life threatening), a large project due for work, and a trial I have to attend (they finally got enough evidence to convict me.  Just kidding.  Maybe).

Does the Haste tattoo haste just Izzick or everyone around like the normal Haste spell?

It's basically a scroll so I can get everybody with it as it's an 11th level haste.

I mean...I assume he's got janky stuff up and most of those miss or are blocked or something but...still. =)

As a side note, the room you guys are in, in the original module, is much different.  It's an instakill encounter.  It is insane.

The two times I ran it as written in the module, one group died completely.  The other group lost four of six members and had to use a wish to deal with the situation.

Just FYI, I'm switching Selvin's speech from blue to goldenrod. I started using a custom, darker rpol interface theme for my eyes and the blue is hard to read for me.
