The Story So Far...

On a busy spring day, our heroes arrive in Sumberton.  Having been hired by the Chicane Guild (a major player in shipping into/out of the city) to guard one of their barges, Guelph, Mina, Haajyrayn, and Desra are set free to explore the city and, perhaps, find new work.

Making the quick decision to grab some food and drink, the crew sets off for the Sly Wink.  There they are approached by Vintra Marktunsel, guildmaster of the Chicane Guild.  A warren of goblins had waylaid a cart of fruit and exotic spices meant for the city, and upon recommendation from the barge's captain, Vintra offered them the task of recovery.  The group accepted, renting a pair of mules and a cart to haul the load back.

After a quick shopping trip, the group is seen off by Vintra, who has brought along another member for the party: Scalesa.

The group travels uneventfully for a full day before arriving at the ambush site.  They carefully follow the tracks to a small box canyon and a narrow crevice that leads into the ground.

The group fearlessly descends and immediately confronts several group of goblins and hobgoblins.  Coming to a barred door above which a sign Scalesa translates as, "Danger!" hangs, the group decides better and moves past it.

Our adventurers continue to fight their way through goblins and dire rats until they come to a room with strange mirrors hanging from the wall.  The mirror hall overlooks a large pit which contains a most curious creature.  Karga, an other-worldly being, seems to be on constant patrol inside of a pit filled with strange, once-magical circles.  On the other side of the pit (and with Karga's help) the group defeats a different other-worldly creature: a howler.  The fight with the howler alerts several other groups of goblins and after a lengthy battle, the heroes discover a strange room with dripping cutlery.  With the spellcasters nearly exhausted, they rest and attempt to recover in a balcony-level barracks room.  Nothing of interest happens in the night, but poor Guelph wakes with quite a fever.
