exorcism or healing spirits. In either case, the patient
lies within a leather hide laid over a leather net, the
shaman engages in a long ceremony , and in the end triumphs
and the illness is gone or fails. If he fails, no shaman
will try again.

PPS: if the thing swoops, speedart and sling (no SR aimning just S/MR). If that doesn't deter the blighter, grab up lance (already close to hand on Ram's back, bladesharp, and take whatever action seems likely to deal with the menace. If there's chance charge it on Ram, naturally. Keeping eyes out for others being attacked to heal if needed.

Well, from the campsite we caught the Red Arrows display, Mig fly past, pair of spitfires, couple of helicopters, and a pair of jets that went low and fast, couldn't quite get a propper look by the time I got out the tent, but I think they were tornadoes and a delt wing looping in the distance typhoon maybe, I know there was a vulcan there but this was maybe looping too tight to be that.

The open space is about 1km wide and 300+ metres across.

Tarosh you can describe a camping site. Survival roll gets you sparse fodder. A special gets you water. A critical gets both and something special that I'll come up with.

I wasn't sure from Tarosh's description how far we are from the ant mounds.  If only 100 winding metres, it doesn't sound very safe  :P

- sling & shield ready; club with Bludgeon 1st choice for any hand-to-hand work that arises
- no hint anything was going to kick off, so I imagine I've been travelling in the wyvern-skin armour not the heavy plate
- if Detect Enemies comes back with anything, Countermagic up (don;t want to be ambushed with spells) and will rect further based on whatever the "detect" reveals
- Dark Claw isn't going to be good at climbing, and Hoskar's busy buttering him up when the chance arises (standard "try to conciliate" pattern) so initial thought is he'll stick with the defending the mounts end of things...subject to correction/change as things develop.

Okay darker brown is the gully with the sides anywhere from 2 to 4 m high. Jack o bears (which none of you have faced or likely seen) are coming up the way you travelled earlier.

Tarnessh can with an ignite spell get the fire going when he gets back, those using flints etc will need to make a survival test to relight. Only one roll per person.

It seems that having left everyone in-the-dark, I'm in the dark about a lot of things.

Sorry, folks: I guess the player's not as bright as his character - I got as far as "silhouetted against the fire they'll be able to see us while we can't see them" but omitted to check how pitchy-dark the night was.

I think the thing we need to bear in mind is that in Glorantha there's usually no moon, so night is probably darker than in our world.  A time for trolls.  Even if the Red Moon is over this part of the world, I figure it wouldn't shed much light at night...?

I'm hoping Kobal still has his brand of tamarisk wood, but then again maybe he's going to attract all the attention  :/

You could get a light spell cast by Glama. I'd allow that to have been done just as Dark Claw was talking to you. Glama is your cousin.

Could I do a lightwall trail to help Ohanzee and Amara find their way back while making it easier to fight? Clearly the JBs don't have any trouble fighting in the dark, so it's not like the extra light could make things worse for us at this point.

I live a couple of miles away, I was going to go down to the beach and watch it, but got engrossed in something and decided to do it sunday. The first thing I heard about it was my brother calling me to check where I was.
I saw the clip on the news, it was awful.

We decided to come home after packing the tent up (about 11.30) on Sat. We were sitting outside having lunch at a McD on the junction of the A272 and A24 about 15 km north of there when first one police car went past, then another and a fire rescue, then ambulances, then more... we didn't know what had happened but as the numbers of emergency vehicles increased we knew it was bad :(

Right you are all back together. Henal, Akala and Hoskar are on their mounts, the rest are on foot.

I'm not too worried about keeping tabs on the length of Tarnessh's lightwalls (20rounds normally), same with Ohanzee's blade venom.

Sounds lovely, but likely too heavy for me and precludes the use of shield.

Is there any sight/sound of the smaller ones? Otherwise I'm assuming they've followed into the cave or melted away into the darkness... that would be a nasty chaos feature if it were literal :)

Hoskar's Scout plains skill could bring you to the serpent (river) just North of where you are. It would offer cover from above in the form of vegetation and shadow.

And from what the Morokanths told you the Harpy lair is somewhere up that way.

The Hills are very steep and not passable by mounts where you are now. Though climbing here would bring you to the Harpy lair too.

I'll be waiting to see what direction Ohanzee gets from the serpent before actually chucking in a rope or anything: just being well-prepared IC.

About gorp: would a bladesharp spell injure a gorp?  Eg does Bladesharp 1 on a sword cause 1 point of damage to the gorp as magic?  Or did it cause no damage because weapons just pass through?

A Bladesharp 4 would cause 4 dam. A disrupt 1d3. A fireblade 3d6.

Weapons will take acid damage.

So, leave the gorp alone or kill the nasty killer?

You've about an hour till it gets to dark to see down here, though the sun will still be up. It's shining from behind you but it's light is getting blocked by the twists of the canyon.

Kill it using speedart, 3 damage per go (assuming hits). Since it is the magic that hurts them it doesn't have to be sling stones, just thrown pebbles should do.

Salen has a disrupt matrix.

Fire arrow would be nice, we could cast it on a lot of pebbles and carpet bomb it :)

Canyon walls at 40m are climbable. Water at least up to the caves looks shallow enough to ford.

Creepers drop down from the arch to a metre above the water. They look strong and climbable.

One thing all of you have noticed is that there has been no sign of Red Thorns or their mounts or the Ten Tall men.

The Red Thorn still with you is comatose still. Who is looking after him? An Npc can be chosen, which at the moment includes Akala and Tarnessh who is busy at the moment with RL.

The various life forms seem more interested in eating each other at the moment and look to be typical background fauna.

That said the largest Cliff toad could easily eat any of your familiars.

Yep, leave him with an NPC... as far as Ohanzee is concerned he can be herded with the surviving herdman... no hard feelings re the red painted b'stards.

On the other side of the river the 2 entrances are submerged, large or small? Small I'm guessing unless the river gets deep near them.

The cave on the other side isn't submerged, just that the river flows into it, it's roof is high enough for someone to walk in. I'll describe it IC once folk move down to the cave on your side

We have a water logged cave on the Southern shore which Ohanzee just investigated, which goes up and leads to the archway.

On the other bank where Henal, kobal, Nixa, Sand Fox and Leaper are is a tunnel which comes out around the bend in the river, ending on a beach. Opposite to the beach is another cave on the Southern shore. A little way along the tunnel to the beach is a sealed room.

Tarnessh, Tarosh, Amara, Salen, Glama and Ohanzee are midstream, with Glama currently under the archway, where he has discovered the water is too deep to continue.

So decisions, decisions.

As always what these caves hold I am making up depending on your actions, with some random measures. The more you give me the more you get.

Somewhere there will be a way up. And there will possibly be various things to aid and hinder. Those making Prax lore tests when encountering chambers not made by nature will know this is an old, old, place. Who built it we will discover together.

You have sufficient torches for this adventure and food so no worries there.

It will be dark in the next half an hour, so secure camping is probably needed. There will be penalties to rolls if awake all night and whilst adventuring during the night.
