OOC fourteen

In reply to Salen's mum (msg # 1):

Wouldn't strong enough magic be able to open the slave collar?

The answer is possibly yes, but we have no where near the strength of magic nor knowledge to do so would be my guess.

They are Mostali inventions and no doubt they added a back door as it were, but that doesn't help us.

I realised that we would be too weak magically as I suspect you'd need to be of Rune Lord type strength to move it and Mostali approaches are completely foreign to the nomads or indeed any human.

Just waiting to give Kobal a chance to chime in.

Sorry for the late post.  I've still been catching up with life since being away for a week.

The Queen is powerful in both life and Harmony so neither spell would work in her vicinity.

Re: OOC fourteen

Where Tarosh found his stuff is also where the Harpies store their treasure. Gear stolen from captives etc.

You can each make up one minor magical item that is either a matrix (Max 2pts), potion, scroll or something random and not too powerful. I will reserve the right to refuse.

Plus two other mundane objects, which can be a piece of equipment, Praxian or otherwise, old or new, a weapon (No crossbows) of bronze or a piece of armour of Bronze/lead or copper. Kralorela, Teshnos or Pent are places that objects might come from.

Eg a case of spices, strange hides, ivory, a Kralorelan sword, a jade elephant broach.

Re: OOC fourteen

The idea for using the hands is totally in keeping with mission impossible and all spy/adventure yarns where security needs to be breached.

Re: OOC fourteen

Hazy memory here; am I right in thinking Detection Blank:

1. DB 2 will prevent 1 point detections (enemy, life, etc) and stay up.

2. DB 1 would be taken down by the detect spell of the same level but still prevent that detection.

3. A 1 point warding has the equivalent of a detection 1 spell to trigger activation

4. What about spirits, does DB help against detection by these?

I've got my rulebook to hand ("paw"?). I think:

1. Yes

2. Yes

3. Warding is a Rune spell, and in general 1pt Rune = 2pt Battle Magic ergo 1pt Ward is blocked by 2pt Detection Blank and knocks it down; 1pt Ward is blocked by 3pt Detection Blank and it stays up. At least that's how I used to play it. However, I'm hazy on this as the rules say Warding acts as "a Detect Enemies spell" so I'm not totally sure whether or not it being a runespell doubles its force in terms of detecting enemies in the way other runespells are doubled. GM?

4. Not that I'm aware of - the spell description says nothing about it, and Countermagic has no effect on spirits and Detection Blank "in other ways functions like countermagic".

Also: things are looking up for Hoskar, it seems. Maybe he'll still feed the body I used to use.

Re: OOC fourteen

Hmmm... so with the prevalence of bound spirits raiding in Prax would actually be very difficult as there's no way to block the sense of said familiars. Unless they cannot detect live spirits?
