GM:
I think gifts are a personal thing for you each decide. They will help your chances at initiation.
An iron helmet gift will be very eell received!
Sorry, I don't have my copy of the rules with me at the moment. A silly question, I think, but... does iron need to be attuned to an individual for them to use it (eg so that it doesn't interfere with magic use etc)? Or is it basically that the process of making iron weapons and armour includes dealing with that?
Temush Blinking-cloud:
How practical it will be to graze a growing herd while we 'adventure' somewhere for more than a day or two may be an issue. So we either task the Redshirts with riding herd (is that what they signed on for? maybe, if they still get equal shares of loot), or leave some of our animals with any close family we have in the tribes.
I've always pictured our families (and their slaves) looking after the animals we've caught to date. Personally I don't see NPC Wandering Rangers as being herders...
Temush Blinking-cloud:
The plus side of bringing more than just a couple of pack animals each is I guess that we have less trouble replacing mounts lost in combat, and maybe we look a little less suspicious to paranoid authority types.
But the larger the travelling party, the bigger the target, and trying to keep our mounts safe is hard enough without lots of extra animals. Thankfully Kobal's mount Black Hoof has managed to survive to date. Whether that's because he's been careful about what he charges, or just lucky, I don't know...
Temush Blinking-cloud:
Coins? that's just taking valuable metal and spoiling it...
Haha
Amara Brightsky:
Or since Kobal is getting hitched he can ask his wife very nicely if she can look after the rangers herds.
Well, he's not married (for a second time) yet... But I'd like to think between a new wife and (family) slaves, there'd be enough hands to manage the herds.
Melock:
I thought they'd be branded and kept as one herd with everyone else's.
Wait, Melock is suggesting that any dowry Kobal receives from a marriage becomes communal property...? I think not :P
