Re: OOC Thread Number 16

GM:
For now it looks like the meeting is over and many more folk come in, mainly Black Shields, amongst whom is their shaman Noosh the Whoosh, a well built man in his late 40's, his hair touching the ground and his loincloth filled with powerful fetishes and spirits. He fixes each of the Rangers with two very different coloured eyes, one Red, the other black and then goes to sit with the other shamans present.

That's a busy loincloth...

Re: OOC Thread Number 16

Sorry, still haven't had time to deal with training.  Tonight or tomorrow night.

Kobal wishes to initiate into Waha (if he meets the criteria).  Does any preparation for initiation cut into training time?

As to communal herd, I *would* be fine with that, but since Kobal's just getting married, he would like to keep these 5 Bison to start things off.

GM:
Do you lot plan to stop at the GFH going to Pavis?  There's new players to initiate in to the Rangers.

Fine with going to GFH first.  If we do, Kobal might drive some (all?) bison from Jella's herd back there.  Intended to show the Red Thorn chief no bad faith was involved in the death of Jella.

Yeah, he gets "Is that a powerful fetish in yourloincloth or are you just pleased to see me?" a lot.

Oh and I'll be there for Granny's day.

Re: OOC Thread Number 16

I'm tempted to change my training to the same as Melock, +3 DEX would raise Salen's to 17. But I have to remember this is Iskallor's game and its RQ, so perhaps Heal 2 would be more beneficial (and necessary)!

How much Healing do we have in the Rangers? Sometimes I think we lose that much blood we must look like ghosts - pale black and blue ghosts in Ohanzee's case!

I'm a broadminded brave, I can sing Kumbyah with the spiders on their high holy day. Just don't ask me to lie about it afterwards.

As long as it's not this coming Fireday (when I'm saving all my worship for Sunhawk's holy day)... unlikely I know, but...

Hoskar has a heal 4 matrix. Think that's the highest.

Yeah, I only have heal ....uh oh, I only have heal 1

Would I have had enough time to bump that in our training?

In reply to Amara Brightsky (msg # 915):

Temush has a heal-4 matrix as well. I just took the personal heal-1 because I'm paranoid. I was toying with giving it to the familiar, but then I'd just have the same problem that I'd have to have something else on the spot to do it...

This is where it gets complicated. Mmm how shall we deal with this?

They are shamans who worship Waha as a great spirit. RQ3 dealt with this differently than RQ2, with shamans replacing priests.

So still go through with your initiations, but you will concentrate on being a shaman's apprentice from next sacred time for a year. You won't be bound by the usual Waha initiates rules. I think you'll leave your religious side apart and will gain your rune magic by dealing with each great and lesser spirit within the Waha society.

Kobal has Healing 2.  But Hoskar and Temush are the strongest in healing.

So...
Praxian shamans are only allowed to fight with magic. Is that cool with you lot or do you still want stabby stabby?

Re: OOC Thread Number 16

Wow, I didn't know that! I knew that they were limited to DEXx5 for many skills including fighting, on the grounds that they don't have the time to train as they are going about the every day business of being a shaman

That's part of the reason I've been training up the DEX up.

To be honest I'd prefer to keep up with the ability at least to continue to fight physically even if I end up doing so less and turning to magic or spirits to do so.

Perhaps we will be different as Wandering Ranger shaman as our shamanic duties will be less involved with tending the clan and more so with the Rangers?

Well there's a contribution balance issue with people who don't want to shamanise. It ought to come with some drawbacks. How does the taboo apply?
Light: They can't ride around heavily armed getting into the melee with the warriors, They can't use weapons in war / raids
Severe: The drunk baboon thinks a shaman spilled his pint, the shaman can't bop him one with a bar stool but has to release a spirit to spirit combat him or use an expensive showy spell to settle the matter.

I didn't realise that either, that'll make us more vulnerable to start with given the number of Shamans we'll have, but once we've harden up it'll make us a lot harder.

Is it a taboo or a preference?

The new RQ spirit rules cover shamans and make them even more interesting to play. Jeff gave a talk about it at the Kraken.

I think we might have to handwave that requirement.

I'm like super close to being a Daughter of Vinga as well.

then in theory I need to spend 90% of my time doing Vinga things.

Protecting the weak from Ravens and then protecting those same Ravens from those who want to explain to them, using big weapons, why they're not as clever as they think they are.

Amara is welcome to start this as a new Vingan tradition, but Melock will probably come up with a new tradition of his own :)

As long as Amara doesn't get the Divine spell that Vinga gets from trickster, Melock doesn't have much to worry about.

There's a spirit spell that Vinga grants her worshippers you might be more concerned about.

It even work on broo!

And just think...it'll be my sacred duty to thump ravens like Melock and that no good husband of mine.

No need. I've not, as yet, found a single brave worthy of my attention.

Whereas you and Ohanzee are happy with pretty much anything with a pulse.
