Hoskar Two-Feather:
Well I think that all amounts to a yes.

Right then. I assume that "as you wish" means you'll not be trying to bind something into Bigmouth then, Melock.

Thank you, Sehana: your presence should ease the passage to the temple. No worries, Kobal - know you've got things to put straight.

Anyone else coming? Luggage boy? Sehana's right - we'll have to move fast to catch the others.

He trots to his packing with alacrity.

He smiles enigmatically at Hoskar, which quickly changes to a frown, "If that name sticks, I'll return the favour." he laughs to show that there are no bad feelings between them, "Travel fast and safe." He pats him on the shoulder.

"I'll go back to the clans too, I don't want to miss my initiation into Waha's cult and I have other things to do back there for me." Henal replies. Good of you to take that thing to the Temple Hoskar and Sehana.... and the Mostali creature too." he continues with a wink.

Re: 55 continued: Homewards, ghost hunting and ancient ruins...

Amara nodded in agreement. It seemed the wisest choice to her. Let the familiar go to the Earth temple where it might do some good and where if the worst happened, at least the Earth Witch would be around to dampen it's enthusiasm.

Re: 55 continued: Homewards, ghost hunting and ancient ruins...

Hoskar and Sehana head off without further ado, quickly vanishing into the gloomy darkness of Freezeday's morning. Once the shadows have swallowed them up it's time for the rest of the Rangers to get back on track and make the last few hours journey which will bring them back to their families and loved ones.

A report will need to be made to the elders, explaining what they have found during their scouting of the river...

He watches Hoskar and Sehana disappear, Lets hope they stay safe. Once he's finished getting Stinky ready to carry the unconscious rider he notices that Hoskar has left one of his rhino's behind, he shakes his head while muttering, "He's too trusting" Melock casually walks over to him and checks he's ready to go and  that all of Hoskar's stuff is secure, "Shall I rope him to Stinky and lead them both?" He asks the others.

Kobal looks down at Melock from where he sits on Black Hoof.  "Only do that if you think you can control Kor well enough that it won't be spooked or charge off - taking the unicorn rider with it...  Otherwise just lead both of them."

Kobal throws his head back in a laugh.  "That was the other thing I was thinking: is it a good idea to tie a bison and a rhino together?  Anyway, now's a good time to learn how to handle a rhino."

He nods, then makes eye contact with Kor, "I think it would be a good idea if one of the rhino riders lead him. It'll also stop me being accused of stealing any of Hoskar's gear, if it goes missing."

Henal looks over at Melock, Yes, Amara or Ohanzee are better with the Rhinos than any of us from the Bison tribes.

Re: 55 continued: Homewards, ghost hunting and ancient ruins...

It's not long before there's grass under hoof as the Rangers reach the outskirts of the Bison Khan and Rainman grasslands. The wind has picked up, carrying the promise of cold and dust filled days ahead, but despite this there are still several Bison septs nearby, their outriders guarding their herds and on seeing the Rangers they gallop over to give their greetings...

The braves are all known to the Rangers and seem eager for news.

Amara led Thunderfoot towards the group, her hand raised in greeting with her javelin lying across her lap. Her face with a warm smile on it as she rode closer to the braves "It is good to see you all again. We have much in the way of news, to be shared with the Khans, but first of all, tell us your news. What has happened while we've been away?"

Kobal raised his lance in joy and greeting, returning to their clans.  "Yes, we should report to the khans as soon as we can," he said.  Probably better that they hear of his marriage to a Red Thorn from him, before it reached them from other mouths.

Re: 55 continued: Homewards, ghost hunting and ancient ruins...

Casting jealous eyes over the Rangers' herd the young braves return the greetings, words spilling from their young mouths

"Bretha married a Black Shield and is already pregnant..."

"There's lots of weddings being planned."

"....Talk of war...."

"Their Chieftains daughter is beautiful"

"No she's not...Ha..."

"...raided by Impala gang several times..."

"Yeah their leader's called Angry Wasp...Nausyas is livid..."

"Grass is still good."

"Heard you were by the river, how was that? You get any treasure?"

"Shamans have been acting weird..."

"Yeah but that's normal."

*Laughter*

"Have you got any presents for us?"

Amara smiled looking back at the others with a wryness in her eyes. "It was a successful trip for us, but we can't say more until after the Khans have heard of our journey...and as for treasure... we have to look after the Khans first, then the Rangers, but there will be some left for celebrating."

Melock waves in greeting to the approaching braves and smiles when he hears all questions, the smile flickers when he hears Angry Wasp mentioned. "Do you have a healer with you? We have an ill rider," He gestures to the unconscious unicorn rider, "we're not sure whats wrong with her, but Whispers from the Sky says we can't catch whatever she's got."

This news brings groans from the young men and women, but it's what they expected. Several of them break ranks to ride back to their septs to tell them that it was the Rangers.

"No healers better than a shaman" answers one. "Our shamans are all back at the main camp, same with the Priestesses. Best get her over there."

In reply to GM (msg # 74):

He nods, unsurprised by the braves words, "I thought as much, but its always worth asking." He gets Stinky moving again, trying to move as quickly as possible, while also as smoothly as he can. He keeps an eye out for hidden holes that might cause Stinky to stumble.

"We had problems with him too, but we need to go and speak to the Khans before we get gossiping too much".

He looks up when the question is asked, "I've got to make sure its a smooth ride for her," he points to the ill rider, "and this was the best way I could think of. Its really weird walking, but" he shrugs, "needs must and all that."

"Melock walks as did the Wandering Rangers of old and will do so for a year. With this act he makes atonement and perhaps might learn something too."

Ohanzee glances at Voras, a look of anger perhaps passing across his face though it is quickly washed away with the smile that follows.

He slips from the back of his Sable and moves to stand before it, reins in hand where the creature almost pushes him over as it takes the chance to scratch an annoying itch on its head against the brave's back.

"It's a Raven Ranger thing, brings us closer to the Earth we protect to walk on it now and then." He winks at Melock before continuing "We Ravens like to really take things seriously."

He laughs at his own joke as he leads Nimble Hoof forward to walk alongside Melock.

He stumbles slightly when he hears Voras speak, but smiles and nods at Ohanzee's words. Looking up at Voras with a grin, "I've already learnt something today, from down here you can't smell the bison farts." He laughs, "and if you walk in the right place, you can be in the shade most of the day." He turns and looks at Stinky, "Maybe with a bit of cloth and timber I could make it so even when Bright Treasure is at its peak I can still be in the cool shade."
