OOC 18

@Amara happy for you to detail Vinga as you see fit for your clan.

Angelika as a Sartarite will follow the Vinga is Orlanth or his sister path, as will those encountered in Pavis.

OOC 18

It's just mildly annoying to have Vinga be mythically Orlanth and nothing more.

Why have Vinga as a seperate entity? Why don't women just follow one of the aspects of Orlanth instead?

To me Vinga is a seperate entity and has a subtly different role.
It's still violent, but with a more feminine and defensive and protective theme.

Sister is grand but in my view Vinga isn't Orlanth in a female aspect.

And out in the Wastes that is so.

Re: OOC 18

It definitely makes more sense to have Vinga as Orlanths sister because she is so much more than just a female version of Orlanth.

First thing in the a.m. Hosk will be hot footing it to the Sages to tell them if they want in it's now. Imagine this might well be 'taken as read' but wanted to make it clear.

Re: OOC 18

Pfft, I will heroquest in this game to make her her own separate entity everywhere.

I think if anything thanks to her rune
She's probably the get out and let your hair down aspect of Ernalda.
You know when you're married to someone for ages, bits of the person you marry rub off on you?
Well...Vinga is that aspect of Ernalda that thinks she's the equal of any man, yet cares for the little ones because someone needs to keep an eye on them when the men are out fighting and drinking and has picked up more than a little from the hubby.

I can quote no canon to back this up, but largely agree. The protecting wind. The Ernalda that fights because she cares so much it hurts. She who is often more than merely equal.

I see this issue as another one of those issues of the Gloranthan world which is vague, allowing peoples' version of Glorantha to vary.

In some, Vinga can be an incarnation of Orlanth, and the Orlanthi recognition of various sexes and genders mirrors this.  In others, Vinga can be the daughter of Orlanth.

Personally, I like to think of Vinga as a different entity instead of a sub-cult  :)

BTW, are the Rangers part of the night time sentries, or are we leaving that to the Zebra riders?

I see her as a totally free standing goddess, not a sub cult. But in line with canon that she is Orlanth. That said I'm happy for there to be different interpretations coz that's Glorantha innit :)

If the Guide to Glorantha is canon, then it refers to both:
- Vinga is an aspect of Orlanth
- Vinga is a warrior daughter of Ernalda

Perhaps this is a mystery, like the Christian God being both father and son  :)

Totally! And it varies everywhere I should think.

I wonder did the Praxians have a spirit/hero who they then supplanted with Vinga? Like Yelmalio is Sun Daughter.

Re: OOC 18

In reply to Kobal (msg # 11):

A model perhaps more akin to Sabellianism than Christian trinitarianism (i.e. two modes/aspects as opposed to two hypostases-persons in consubstantial homoousios-union), but that would certainly cover it as a viable mystery.

So, yes. What Kobal said [and I see our GM has just liked too] sounds good to me.
