You can sacrifice for the spell first and then do the pow roll.

Death and Mastery can try a skill increase.
Everyone gets to try a Spirit rune increase.
A question for GM when he gets back from the Wilds: the runes of Waha in RQ2 are Death, Beast and Man.
Do you mean those with Death, Beast or Man can try to increase their rune?
Or those with Death, Beast, Man or Mastery?
Or those with Death or Mastery?
