Whoops out of the loop at just the wrong moment, I bought my step daughter the Taschen Hiroshige book for her birthday and I got lost in trying to do a 'print' of the Zola Fel at Pavis looking through the new Moon Brigde towards the Rubble. I quickly realised I'm no Hirosige, but I might post it later if I like it when I,m done

I thought of Waha, Thunder Bird and Emesha-Ga.  But Ohanzee had already taken the role of Waha, and Emesh-Ga is a spirit rather than a god, so I settled on Thunder Bird.  There's less written up about the Feathered Rivals compared to the usual Praxian gods, so I find it harder to get a good sense of what those gods are about.

Thank you, @Kobal. And indeed all. It's just me RPGing it up over what ZZ stole from me. I imagine it would hit a chap's spirit quite hard at first. I've done this sort of thing before when suddenly low on POW from draining everything for healings.

Bound spirits, right?  Allied spirits are only for rune levels...?
The limit for bound spirits is CHA divided by 3, rounding downwards.  So CHA of 10 can have 3 bound spirits at most.

I'll look after one and you'll soon have one less to worry about the way my luck goes with bound spirits :P

I've run into a similar issue with battle magic.  Kobal has pretty average intelligence, and has run out of INT to memorise spells, so some now have to be memorised by his familiar.

If I recall correctly, in the past the party's characters have had a CHA increase (particularly with respect to their clans) as a result of their adventures and loot.

Yes, we all had a 1 point rise.

When those of us following the shaman path reach it then deals can be made with spirits using stored POW. Can fetches bind spirits to themselves too?

The standard RQ2 rulebook only states the following benefits of having a fetch:
1. fetch can inhabit/preserve the shaman's body while the shaman travels the spirit plane;
2. fetch can cast spells;
3. fetch can initiate spirit combat;
4. fetch acts as bound spirit re using INT to memorise spells and using POW to cast spells.

Melocks done that as well, but as he keeps loosing them he has to keep spending time teaching the next one the same spells :)

I had imagined trying to initiate earlier might be apt because I suspect there might be some Rangers High Jinks planned for Sacred Time which absence-in-the-temple might get in the way of.

Does Spiritspeech work the same as normal languages (save that people can only communicate with other's familiars via their own familiars)?  In particular if Four Paws is broadcasting to all familiars, does this mean that any familiars the robbers have will also hear?  Or is Four Paws able to reach out just to the Rangers' familiars?

Bound spirits can't cast spells on their own.  Only a shaman's fetch or a runemaster's allied spirit can cast spells.
Unless in this game we have a house rule that bound spirits *can*...?

No intent to have the bound spirits do more than make noise/flutterings/whatever from cover and generally "creep out" our guests. Hopefully, the interlopers will all go, "Rhikes, Rhaggy - Rhosts" and leg it as per Scooby-Doo. :)

He looks like a Sartarite settler, though one that has been in the wars a fair bit. He has no visible tattoos or runes.

As far as I recall, we're just all traveling together. Strength in numbers and so on. I don't recall any specific deal apart from Angelika insisting Hommi is to be respected. I have a personal vested interest in keeping Goodfeathers in one piece as he's volunteered to be sponsor at my Issaries initiation, of course.

Incidentally, I'm not sure how my posting regularity will be over the next month. On the one hand, we've an extra team member starting sometime sooninsh, on the other hand I work in a University and it's 'that time of year' again.

I don't think we've been *hired*.  We don't get paid for this...?  But I would've thought Angelika would've *charged* us to guard the caravan (and herself).

how wide is the river here? does the road keep close enough to the river that they are within bow range, because riding along the edge of the river would be a bad idea.

I've just watched the episode of Tribes, predators and me, about hyenas. Not only does it get close to wild ones, it also offers a fascinating view of the Bodi tribe, who are cattle herders.
Its on BBC Iplayer for those of you who can access it.

No worries, I've been busy myself (as it usual).  Was hoping to follow the Lunar game some of you were playing, but I've been too busy to keep with that.

Was baby-sitting my nieces tonight, so had time to learn Khan of Khans and play with them. A lot of luck involved with the Stampedes and Enemy Magic. A quick fun game. The high llamas with their ability to corral extra cattle are my favourite tribe.

Played 3 times lost 3 times.

Zac won 2 times against me and Lewis, Lewis won once against me, Zac and granny and grandad.

We all think it's a good game :)

What do the various kids make of Glorantha?

We only had time for one game before it was the girls' bedtime, so there wasn't much time for them to look at all the details, though they did notice the ducks.  One niece was interested in the different Praxian tribes and their special abilities.  Another niece went straight for the Unicorn tribe  :)

It's been the boys first exposure and Inge rate them as mildly interested. They asked about the tribes and the runes and what they meant, what they special abilities were and why the different tribes had them.

Zac particularly liked the ducks and didn't like me continuously raiding them :)

It looks like he was on sheetmetal (8 foot high when crouching). He was under the Stadium Bridge in Ann Arbor so maybe some passing Wolverines took a shine to him, or he was kidnapped by visitors. This was all 2011 just before they demolished the bridge that he was living under, so it was probably all an Arts Department prank.

GM - no problem with an extended break on the game - I'm very busy through December so it is a bit of a relief, got to admit I find Gloranthan games often are harder work than the many B/X D&D games I play that are usually a bit easier to drop in and out of. I think probably because the D&D games are fairly background light and not heavy on the roleplay aspects unlike this one.

Amara - that is annoying - I find myself working in open plan offices most of the time and I honestly feel that they are really productivity destroyers with the ease of disturbance in them. Management usually like it because it is cheap - can fit more people in to a space than cubicles or separate rooms and it gives the illusion of control by seeing what people are doing.
