Good luck with the chain mail, I saw a guy at a similar event and he looked like he was knitting with pliers.

Re: OOC Twenty!!!!

Sorry, another week (and weekend) where I was really busy.  I'm behind not only in this game but other things (need to get tax done etc).  The good news is that I'm hoping to take a few days off work this week, so hope to catch up with the game in the next few days (but you've all heard that before)...

Never a problem Kobal. I'm finding it hard to find the time for this to and Glorantha isn't motivating me very much unfortunately. You lot do, but it's currently proving hard :)

Not much time here either, and in something of a Gloranthan malaise too. These things come and go in pulses at my end: heart's not really been in Glorantha since the game hiatus; maybe getting the edge of it back.

Fear I'm struggling to get back into the game as well - Easter monopolised me for a month and I've got to try and carve out some time to read over what I missed and get going again. I'll try to today.

Re: OOC Twenty!!!!

I'm having a bit of trouble pitching how sbmall-time / big-time the Rangers should act while in Pavis.

My feeling is we ought to be more small-time at present, and I'm having trouble with us thinking that we have a reasonable chance of raiding/heroquesting vs the Rubble trolls (other than youthful barbarian overconfidence, probably soon to be exposed). If we pull it off than we are no longer small-time around Pavis and the Lunars probably will start looking into us. If we fail without major consequences - pfaf! "there is trouble Zebraside" (i.e. nobody cares) we can carry on as usual.

TPK is a bit of an issue though...

Re: OOC Twenty!!!!

In reply to Temush Blinking-cloud (msg # 914):

Personally, I (both Player and Hosk) think the Rubble's denizens would largely eat us alive, and that we've about as much chance of success with a rumble with Uz in the Stronglands as any normal* group of adventurers has of getting away with stealing Krang's Table.

My hope is we'll talk the talk in the New City; but when it comes to walking the walk, the walk I want to walk involves negotiating a ransom release and most definitely not biffing a devotee of Zorak Zoran on what passes for his boko.

My ideal "easy in, easy out" plan would run: "Boat down river; if we're lucky a Becx contact having contacted the Uz holding Delenda and set up a meet by Troll Bridge; negotiation, payment, float on down to the far end of the Rubble, Sables none the wiser, head back round the Rubble on the outside past the Garden, shout at a few trees until something answers, work out how to hand over the Dryad's Nut, get escorted through the Garden, have a shufti at the tunnel between the old Uleria and Issaries temples in search of Harpy-defeating clues for later in our lives, then waltz home to a nice cup of tea and a plate of scones".

Of course, if you think there's any chance of it being that easy I have a cyclopean bridge I'd like to sell you. :)

*"Normal" meaning "anything short of Harrek and his pirates" - that scenario seems to be an impossible one.

That's a great plan Hoskar, we've certainly got the cash for payment and If we can get there before the sables I think we stand a good chance of doing it.

Re: OOC Twenty!!!!

It might be that Grudar's troll contacts, who he was introduced to by Bexc (I suspect to gain her favour and influence) might be able to help in this way perhaps - but I'm not sure what the contact is between the merchant trolls at the Argan Argar temple and the trolls in the Big Rubble is like.

Re: OOC Twenty!!!!

I don't really know where our characters are in relation to others. We've done some really intense things for 16 or 17 year olds. We have done some heroquesting. We've done some notable things. I think we might think of ourselves as above adventurer level. Now it's also true to say, none of us has experienced the rubble, but we have lived in the wastes (with some rather brutal broo). I think realistically we'd be at the very seasoned adventurer level of people going into the rubble. It's more our lack of local knowledge that will hamper us rather than our abilities.

As an aside, Amara is probably Rune Lord level in unenhanced fighting, I think any seasoned fighter might be aware they might want to be more wary around us.

Re: OOC Twenty!!!!

I agree Amara, the Rangers are definitely over achievers, I think it's this over confidence that'll lead us to our doom :)

The only potential problem that'll stop us buying Delenda back, is if the ZZ isn't selling her as he wants her for his ritual sacrifice.

Re: OOC Twenty!!!!

There is the danger that player knowledge is clouding character knowledge. Except for Hoskar and Grundar perhaps the characters know little of the Rubble.

They do know that they've defeated crazy broo of various types, ancient harpies, vampire basmoli type thinks, I could go on.

Frankly, if Hoskar and Grundar who know about the place want to convince the others that trading is the best option, which I'm not disagreeing with OOC, they should be doing a better job IC or in fact a job.

In reply to Ohanzee Shappa (msg # 922):

I'm not sure that Grundar has any real knowledge of the Big Rubble to be honest, he arrived in Pavis not that long before you guys did (although my sense of timing is blurred, that not long before took place over quite a lot of real time). He does know a few trolls though, and Bexc, and is generally just enthusiastic about new experiences and life.

Re: OOC Twenty!!!!

IC wise, Melock thinks that the rubble is a lot safer than the wastes, which is why he's happy to split the party and go and see the unicorn riders, then catch up with the others.
OOC wise, I know the rubble is at least as dangerous as the wastes. :)

This is the best plan I have heard so far and with the best chance of survival.

What are you offerring as payment for Delendra? You were getting about 30 sable if I recall right.

In reply to GM (msg # 926):

I'm definitely planning to have a bit of a rant about this plan and how dangerous the Rubble is IC when we're somewhere less public. But no chance while non-Rangers might overhear. Interesting thought: what do our new local NPC Rangers know about the Rubble??

I personally think we should go beyond the ransom level if needed. Not what I'd offer as an opening to negotiations, but...
