On the trail of friends....

The next morning finds Henal Longgrass, Tarnessh Listens-To-Silence and all those who defeated the Spring Buck Impala braves and the Gagarthi Shaman, standing before the Elders of both the Prairie Thunder and Sky Watcher Clans.

Nausyas the Iron Bull welcomes everyone

"Braves, you are here before me so that I and the elders of our Clans can bestow on you the rewards you deserve. It was a worthy defeat of unworthy foes. Impala bandits who had preyed on our herds for seasons and that bastard Red Thorn Shaman who had the nerve to curse our people and bring down Tripanandar, Leaping Bear man, on our herd. Well he and his allies are now dead thanks to you and for that we are grateful.

And to show our appreciation we have decided the wealth of the bandits amongst you and added some of our own."

What follows is a complicated doling out of trade goods, captured gear and herd beasts. These are then bartered with others present, those who train in useful skills, make weapons or in the case of the Shaman's and Priests teach spells.

Re: On the trail of friends....

A cloud of smoke announces the arrival of Smokey Jojo by Tarnessh's side.

His hand, claw like and hot, grabs the young brave's forearm

"So..You have received rewards from the Khan. Do you wish to learn a new charm? I have ones to light your way in the darkness, to repel the shadows and see what is far off, or something else for that matter?"

His intense blue eyes bore into Tarnessh's, twin plumes of smoke billowing from his flared nostrils.

In reply to Smokey Jojo (msg # 2):

Tarrnesh took a moment to think of which he would make the commitment to take the time to learn. "I know that we will face many enemies in our quest, so I think that the ability to create a wall of light will be of great use whether in the dark of night or broad daylight."

"A wise choice made by a wise brave. Meet me a dawn by our compound and I will take you out into the Wastes. Bring some food and plenty of water, but remember we will be fasting for much of the time."

The Shaman looks over to where Cloud Walker the Thunderbird shaman has approached Henal.

"Seems there will be others following suit this week.

By the time you are finished the rest of the Wandering Rangers will be back and you can take the oath to join them."

"....And so that's what I can offer you my lad" finishes the Thunder Bird Shaman, his voice drowning out the voices of all those near.

Henal has just been offered a selection of charms and spells that he could learn over the next week

"Pick one and meet me at dawn tomorrow at the Shamans' compound."

Re: On the trail of friends....

The throng of braves have become loud and boastful as each shows his neighbour his rewards and plays up it's worth. Deals are made, livestock swapped and future raids planned.

Through it moves the Chieftain and various Rune Lords and Rune Priests, slapping backs, making alliances and seeing what's what with the lads.

On the edges stand the Eirithans and the unmarried women of the clan, many laughing at the antics of their men folk.

Re: On the trail of friends....

Several other braves come and join Henal and Tarnessh, asking how they fared and what their plan was for the rest of the day.

"I'm heading out with some of the others to guard the herds" reports Sitting Deer, another Sun Hawk brave, the same age as both Tarnessh and Henal.

"I heard that you were thinking of joining the Wandering Rangers when they return, is this true?"

You've known him since birth, trustworthy, honest and if anything a little boring. He's a cousin to both Kobal and Tarnessh, belonging to the same extended family.

Over Sitting Deer's shoulder Henal spies an angry looking Uroxin moving through the crowd.
