Chapter #2.5:  First Intermission

Hello all,

All of you have headed to bed for some much-deserved rest after a long and trying day.  The narrative will not restart again until you gather at the Rusty Dragon at 7:00 this evening for Aldern Foxglove's appreciation dinner.

This means you have the day to do what you will in the town of Sandpoint.  This thread exists to allow you to describe what you will be doing.  If we have to break out some of the interaction or perform any rolls we can do that as needed, but the idea of this is to be a quick bridge to the dinner, where we will again pick up the story.

Re: Chapter #2.5:  First Intermission

Kellan will be visiting his family on their farm located on the outskirts of town to make sure that they are ok and to assure them all is well. The ride out there on Hakon and back as well as a stop at Das Korvuts to see about some armor repair should take up the bulk of his day.

Re: Chapter #2.5:  First Intermission

I'll be spending the day at the Cathedral with Father Zantus and Kerr; tending to the injured people and trying to get the Cathedral itself cleaned up and organized in the aftermath of the attack.  Given a chance for a break, I'll also visit Heily at the stables to make sure that she wasn't hurt or spooked during the attack.  And to show her the Little Heily figurine.

Re: Chapter #2.5:  First Intermission

The evening had been full of stars, good food, and good conversation.  Well, mostly Pisca conversing and Lunk listening, with Pisca running into the Rusty Dragon and the Hero's Table occasionally to update and be updated in return.  They had said their goodbye's with the moonlight splashed across Sandpoint - a soft silvery blanket to the gnome's eyes.  She watched as her personal giant strode off through the silver-lit streets to his home.

The next morning found Pisca splayed out across an enormous hummie bed.  The one good thing about hummie-sized furniture was the beds.  She opened one violet eye.  Then let it fall shut.  She flopped one way.  Then flopped another.  An hour later, the gnome sat up, stretched, and yawned.  When she finally strolled down for the morning meal she had augmented her frontier outfit with a scarlet head scarf that bound her strawberry blond hair back save for a few stray curls the escaped off the front.  She asked for scones and raspberry jam, but she took what she got.  And after the break of fast, Pisca left the inn and got to work.

"Who in Sandpoint shoots a black arrow?"  She waved her half arrow about.  She told the story that Broadert Quint had the day before.  Who was it?  Who was the head shot archer?  Who was the unsung hero of Sandpoint?

Later in the day, Pisca made trips to the usual places, where, having given up on the idea of a personal armory, she bartered a price for a few dog slicers, some goblin armor, and a really very fine goblin horsechopper.

Diplomacy check to gather information on a person in the area who uses a black arrow.

Also seeing about selling some of those goblin things.

Re: Chapter #2.5:  First Intermission

"Well, it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick," said the gnome as she counted out twenty five gold coins for herself, Stomper, Lysa, and Cato.  "I guess there's not much call for goblin arms and armor anymore.  Not since we killed all of the customers."

"Still, that's not a small number of gold coins there," she said, looking down at the pile of gold coins in front of her.  "Hmph.  Might save this for the library," she said without further explanation.  Then she swept the small pile into her pouch.

"Oh, and in case you're interested, I heard more on those black arrows.  Seems that our mystery archer ...  Black Arrow.  I think I'll call her Black Arrow.  It seems that Black Arrow was in many different place yesterday.  I spoke to Alergast this morning and he said that he saw several gobbies fall to the black arrows at Undercliff Bridge.  He never saw who did it.  And all shots to the head."

"Found a young hummie out in the swamp a while back too.  My sources say that he was associated with certain criminal activities.  Again, black arrow to the head."

"And a year or two ago they found a Chelish spy down at the base of Junker's Cliff.  Looked like it was the fall that broke him, but a couple of black arrows washed up on the beach later that day.  Looks like Black Arrow's been around for a while.  At least a year or two."

"Well, I'm going to dress for dinner.  Maybe have a bath.  With bubbles."  The gnome frowned, and with hands on hips her eyes roved the room.  "Why are there never any rose petals around when you need them?" the gnome complained.

She sighed, hopped down from her chair, and headed up to her room.

Re: Chapter #2.5:  First Intermission

I don't think Cato will do anything interesting.  At some point, I might want to use some downtown to scribe some scrolls or make other magical items, but I don't have a lot of extra money right now.
Cato will check in with Brodert, spend some time around the inns and taverns in Sandpoint to get a feel for who's in town due to the festival, making sure it's no one he recognizes from the Hellknights.
