Re: OOC Discussion #2
In reply to Keef (msg # 979):
It was 10 a.m. when you made camp, 11:30 a.m. when the Dune Rider saw something in the distance, noon when Boreas hovered over the group, 1 p.m. when Zuriel got shot out of the sky, 1:30 p.m. when Zuriel got back to camp, 1:45 p.m. when the order was given to pack up the camp, 3 p.m. when the last folks entered the club house.
The ETA of the Silent Legion at your location was 4 p.m.
This conversation is made difficult because of posts like "Lyriel immediately goes to sleep for a few hours", because then you can't put them back into the conversation until that amount of time has elapsed. That puts the hand-waving timewarp power into the players hands instead of the GM's, and that can cause continuity problems.
The first thing that happened, at 3:01 p.m., was Lyriel passing out without caring what anyone else did. At 3:02 p.m., a Dune Rider asked about windows. The scouting conversation then began to take place, except Lyriel "woke up 8 hours later" in the middle of it.
Which is very frustrating. Players should not warp time without GM permission, especially during critical moments like these.
If we're going to assume that nobody wants to scout or keep watch or anything until 8 hours later, when Lyriel wakes up, at which point this whole war council thing can happen... fine. But it's very clumsy and not at all what I had in mind in terms of timing.
The local time would then be 11:00 p.m. -- definitely dark and cool outside, perfect for travel -- and the encroaching group should have came and gone 5 hours ago.
