Re: OOC Discussion #2

In reply to Keef (msg # 966):

You started with 3 squads of 13 each, plus their commanders (+3), plus the platoon sergeant (+1), plus the lieutenant (+1). So you started with 44 troops.

After the Squad Charlie debacle, you are down to 30 soldiers. Plus all of Harrison Jones's caravan folk, though they aren't likely to be worth much in a fight.

Ok, so tight squeeze, but we could all hide in my clubhouse and let them walk by.

Yeah it will be very tight but it will work as an emergency. Then, tomorrow mornign we can pile out and confront them decisively if they're still nearby

That was the plan, yes.

Why, do you see flaws with that?

Keef will not baulk at that, nor stop anyone from coming with.

Also, Longshank and Chubbs are coming.  One is an immensely powerful being with great untapped potential and the other is a legendary staff.

Not alone.

Re: OOC Discussion #2

So I'm unclear on the timing that this conversation takes place in. We, at least, need to wait until dawn for Zuriel and Lyriel's spells to refresh. Not sure when Keef gets new spells.

What time is it now?

Lyriel posted about a long nap... so I assumed we are several hours after entering the Clubhouse.

Re: OOC Discussion #2

In reply to Keef (msg # 979):

It was 10 a.m. when you made camp, 11:30 a.m. when the Dune Rider saw something in the distance, noon when Boreas hovered over the group, 1 p.m. when Zuriel got shot out of the sky, 1:30 p.m. when Zuriel got back to camp, 1:45 p.m. when the order was given to pack up the camp, 3 p.m. when the last folks entered the club house.

The ETA of the Silent Legion at your location was 4 p.m.

This conversation is made difficult because of posts like "Lyriel immediately goes to sleep for a few hours", because then you can't put them back into the conversation until that amount of time has elapsed. That puts the hand-waving timewarp power into the players hands instead of the GM's, and that can cause continuity problems.

The first thing that happened, at 3:01 p.m., was Lyriel passing out without caring what anyone else did. At 3:02 p.m., a Dune Rider asked about windows. The scouting conversation then began to take place, except Lyriel "woke up 8 hours later" in the middle of it.

Which is very frustrating. Players should not warp time without GM permission, especially during critical moments like these.

If we're going to assume that nobody wants to scout or keep watch or anything until 8 hours later, when Lyriel wakes up, at which point this whole war council thing can happen... fine. But it's very clumsy and not at all what I had in mind in terms of timing.

The local time would then be 11:00 p.m. -- definitely dark and cool outside, perfect for travel -- and the encroaching group should have came and gone 5 hours ago.

Re: OOC Discussion #2

If people want to go scouting now, that's fine. Just keep in mind that our spells won't be ready until dawn.

I recommend just sending Keef and Boreas to check if they're still in the area. Most important thing will be not letting them  know where our portal is.

Re: OOC Discussion #2

In reply to Zuriel Silendril (msg # 981):

I don't want to redact all this planning and conversation. We'll just say it's 11 p.m., as per the written timeline thus far. Spells do not refresh until dawn, but if you want to get meaningful travel in today, you'll want to start unloading sooner rather than later.
