The question is: can you make a full attack after taking a five-foot step. The answer is yes. Way to go, team.

You may not. The downside is when a five-foot step is not possible or inadvisable. Such as in a cramped space.

Since Maeve stood up where she fell -- 5 feet from the troll -- I'm not sure she can stand up and then attack with the reach weapon. I think she'd have to move. Standing up is a move action, according to the SRD.

Maeve has, I believe, two options:

1) Stand up, eat the AOO, then take a five-foot step backward and be ready for next round.

2) Stand up, eat the AOO, then standard-charge Troll A or B, using the same damage as the existing attack.

Side note: I'm 99% sure there's a feat that allows you to "choke up" on reach weapons, ignoring this whole "can't use it in melee range" problem. You may want to invest in it.

Okay, thanks for the flank. Sorry about the charging confusion Maeve, that's all my fault. I misunderstood the 3.5 charge rules.

Anyhow, looks like it's to Keef and then the troll gets to eat me.
