What domains shall Lyriel and Boreas choose? And what will be done about the barrier? The crowd is waiting with baited breath!

Seriously though, once we have this last bit resolved, Maeve has penned a wonderful vignette that will serve as a nice capstone to this saga. Huge thanks to everyone for coming along for the ride :)

Happy new year, everyone!

Oh, it is poignant as fuck.  You bitches will weep.

Maeve also has a list of requests, including but not limited to, admittance to one of the cushier heavens upon her death.  The aforementioned 72 buff male attendants bearing palm fans wouldn't go awry either.

Unless they physically reforge the Heavens and the Hells, those concepts as you knew them won't exist. That said, they can probably conspire to grant you a custom afterlife filled with coffee and people to trip (and buff dudes with palm fronds, of course).

Who is surprised that Lyriel's description of her appearance is longer than her deciding on her domain?

The more I hear this song, the more I feel that it applies to Auriel's brand of godhood:

On a more serious note: I'm sure it's the last thing anyone wants to do while we're on the cusp of wrapping up a 3+ year campaign, but I would absolutely be down for another Rpol game in the future.  As anyone who has ever played tabletop D&D with me knows, I am heartbreakingly bad at roleplaying and making in-character decisions on the spot.  There's lots of hemming and hawing and "I don't know guys, what SHOULD I do?"  Being able to reflect upon my response and edit it before deciding has been a godsend.

Now hurry up and break your stupid barrier so I can post my capstone piece.

In reply to Keef (msg # 594):

I'm looking forward to resolving the barrier issue as well so we can tie a bow on this, as well. I've never completed a campaign from level 1 to level 20 before (even if we cheated and skipped the last 5 levels), and I'm so very excited to have been able to do this with everyone :)

I'd be down for another game once this concludes for sure. Did you have a system in mind?

Maeve was just introducing herself to the old man.  She hasn't actually said anything to the crowd as a whole yet.

And oh god, ANYTHING but 3.5.  The stacked modifiers are murder.

Re: OOC Discussion #3

In reply to Keef (msg # 597):

I will run another 3.5 game only on the following conditions:

quote:
1) It takes place in this world, post-apocalypse, a few thousand years down the road.

2) All of the PCs belong to an organization called The Cult of Chubbs

3) The overall goal is to explore the myth that an ocean of potential power -- enough to rival that of all of the gods combined -- lurks behind a barrier in the depths of the forbidden Soul Well.

ALL WILL BOW BEFORE THE MIGHT OF THE HYPNOTOAD.

But seriously, I'd prefer a non-3.5 system because yes. Those stacked modifiers are ridiculous.

Actually. . .that sounds like a pretty damn awesome premise for a new campaign.

Have you played 5th ed., Aaron?  It's far and away my favorite system that I've experienced so far.

I'd be interested for sure.  Actually have the framework for a new character brewing in my mind.  A rogue with a little magic at her disposal.  A bit of a surprise , but that's what she seems to be insisting on being.

Re: OOC Discussion #3

Whoa, PARTY Angstfest 2017.  Meanwhile, seeing as Boreas is in DC for Magfest, I guess we can safely assume that he spent the entirety of the celebrations nodding like a bobblehead doll.

It sounds like snow is going to keep me inside for a lot of the weekend, so maybe I'll sit down and write up a little bit of backstory for "As Yet Unnamed Arcane Trickster To Be Used In Some Future Campaign."

Re: OOC Discussion #3

In reply to Maeve Hassan (msg # 603):

Looking forward to meeting her!

For the curious, I have used the forbidden magic of Redactamancy to adjust the story of the survivors slightly.

You can re-read the monologue on Page 2 if you like, but the pertinent changes are as follows:

1) Cassie no longer came through with a limp and no pet, then left and was never seen again. Instead, her pet came through without her once, dropped off survivors, then roared and charged back into the pool (ostensibly to save its mistress). The end result is the same, but I like the optics of this version better.

2) Mahmout no longer disappeared through the pool after his speech about the PARTY coming after the Last Day. Instead, he remained on the village's side, channeling constantly at the pool until the very end. The effort killed him, and he is interred in the village's Shrine.

Again, it's mostly about optics. You may now return to your regularly scheduled programming!

Re: OOC Discussion #3

In reply to DM (msg # 604):

Nice flurry of posts there. To clarify, Auriel and Selena are TOGETHER equal to one deity in terms of power. Such is the cost of raising a mortal to divinity.

Though if you'd just asked her to drink, you'd have retained your power... :)

Reaction shots all around are in order (or at least the opportunity for such), at which point I'll do one more update and leave Maeve to post her capstone.

I'm so happy.

Maeve, for her part, has had her say.  With the exception of my capstone post (which has expanded to short story length; sorry), I am content for her last action in the campaign proper to be an expression of mild disgust at Auriel's romantic drivel.  As it should be.

Re: OOC Discussion #3

Boreas totally summoned griffons at my request, so that Sekhmet would not be the last one.  Which led me to start thinking: what do you call baby griffons?  Chicks?  Cubs?

And then it hit me:

Chubs.  Baby griffons are called "chubs."
