Not being technically minded, I certainly don't object to the fuel rulings.

Math was never Grimsby's thing. That's why he is an agent/scholar not an engineer.

I expect to be away at the Pennsic War from tomorrow (Aug. 5) until at least the following Thursday. I might be able to get on during that time, but I can't count on it.

I should be able to post next week. I just moved from my house of 10 years and it’s been absolutely exhausting.

Yeah, But...

I know the feeling. Add to that moving cross-country... did it twice... and then a third time from Massachusetts to Florida.

It's not the actual move that's exhausting (usually), but the change in attitude that has to occur. Nothing is where it use to be, new roads to travel, new shops you have to go to... it all takes a toll on your overloaded brain!

I am happy to say I am back. I am sorry I could only post once while I was away. My computer was at Herald's Point the entire time, and while I was there I was usually busy researching people's authentic (we hope) medieval names.

I do understand the stress of moving. I moved from WV to CA and then back within 2 years.
At various times I also moved to and from Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, Kentucky and South Korea (not in that order). My wife keeps suggesting moving again, and I always say, not while I'm alive.

I must admit I do not remember seeing cats in Daegu in the 1980s, but perhaps as the country became more wealthy people could afford such luxuries.

Yeah, But...

So apparently it was my turn to get Covid, although a weaker strain. Culminated Monday night when I fell getting out of bed because I got dizzy and my legs were so weak they couldn't support me. After friends helped me get into a chair, called an ambulance to take me to the hospital for evaluation and testing. Everything else was clear but the test came back positive for Covid. Put some fluids in me, gave me a few prescriptions for me cough, and sent me home.

According to the doctor, I have had it for a few days, so Monday was the worst of it. Getting better, but I still feel like crap and a bit unsteady on my feet.

At least this explains why I've been feeling so crappy for awhile now.

Yeah, But...

Thanks for your patience with me, everyone. Basically, we sold our house of 10 years because the neighborhood was so bad. Shootings, horrid neighbors, etc. We had our dream cabin all set to buy, lined up and ready to move from one to the other. 2 weeks before closing date, we find out the owners of the cabin lied and withheld a border dispute with us. They were being sued by their neighbor over property lines! We met with everyone to get a feel for the situation and their neighbor was very off. We got super bad vibes so we had to pull out and scramble to find somewhere else to live within 2 weeks because we'd already sold our house. It was a nightmare. I've never been more stressed in my life. So now we're stuck in a rental until the housing market calms down, living out of boxes for who knows how long. Hence, I've been flaky. I do apologize. I'm hoping to get better about it now.

And that super sucks about getting covid! How scary!

In reply to Marian Holroy (msg # 706):

Deep sympathy. I recall being in the midst of moving from WV to CA -- literally sitting on the floor of a newly emptied room -- and getting a call from Ca telling us that my wife was not getting the job she thought she was getting in CA -- we more or less had to move anyway, but moved right back 2 years later. At that point I swore I was never moving anywhere again. Not with 7000+ books, a room full of gaming gear etc...

Lol Dash! That's horrible but I can't help laughing for some reason!

And yikes Grim! That sounds like an absolute nightmare. I honestly think moving is one of the most stressful things a person can go through. It's such an utter disruption of one's life, and to do it that often! Heck no!

Probably should apologize for not posting an update here, but brain's been too tired to even think of doing that.

Getting better. Just slow.

Yeah, I've moved three times now... Philadelphia to San Diego, San Diego to western Massachusetts, and Mass to Florida. Left a lot of stuff behind every time. Books and stuff.

Hope things are getting better for you.

Thank you! They are finally settling down, move wise, anyway. I've discovered that I keep waiting for life to figure out its crap and be good again and, as I get older, it requires a lot more acceptance and involvement from me to make it so. Ah the joys of being a grown up.

Re: Yeah, But...

As you may have heard, Southwest Florida where I  live got clobbered by Hurricane Ian. Once again, we've lost power. With Irma, we lost it for 10 days. It could be longer this time as a couple of substations got trashed and there's almost a million people without power now across the six counties.

Currently using my friend's hot spot from his phone, but there's still the problem of charging up my computer and his cell phone.

So, not sure how much I'll be able to post before we get power back. No gas stations are operable because their pumps are electrical and they don't have power either. Most stores were closed today, but a few restaurants managed to open to feed the people that can't cook at home now.

Lots of trees down, and some damage to houses and yards. Six houses on our block lost their back porches. Our fence barely survived, but it's leaning because the ground got so soaked. Lost a few solar panels. But other than that, made it through without any damage to the house (except the back porch (the lanai) is 50% gone) and we're all intact--people, cats and dogs.

Very glad your people, cats and dogs are safe. Very sorry about all the other damage. I am sure we will all be patient in waiting for your region to recover before we expect you to be very active in this game. Best wishes for as rapid a recovery as possible.
