Given the different details of the Mary Kelly murder, there's a possibility it wasn't the same killer behind the other Ripper murders, or else he changed his MO. So, I left the open the possibility that this was a different matter, or that Penny didn't kill Mary's murderer after all.

The Torso Killer was another serial killer around the same time, sometimes linked to Jack the Ripper: (beware grisly details)

I remember watching a special on Jack the Ripper when I was like 14. It was creepy enough that I had to have my sister sleep in my room again for a few days. It amazes me that things like that actually happened! What a crummy world :(

I've read about the torso killer! Call me morbid but I have a fascination with serial killers. I think it's because it's so hard to understand their motivations and they are so freaking creepy!

Yes. This is a paradox, there was no way for him to know which hotel they were at or the time to send it to them. There are several ways to handle this, but most likely it was interference by out\r enemies to help put a wedge between Penny and Simon. I spoke with the GM about this when it actually occurred. She had the same question, I answered it the same way. =->
