Re: Chapter 2.1- A Precious Cargo

Colin lashed out again at the demon, his knife a blur. He realized too late his mistake, a simple application of too much force and knowing it would never reach its intended target. He opened his hand to release the knife and the poor grip he had on it. Instead he spotted the shotgun not too far away in the same place he left it.

Colin gave a brief smile to the priest. "Father, I'm always a target. Get the ladies out of here and I will get going my way. You will need someone to keep these buggers off ya. Say a prayer, father, then get the hell outta here!" ,he yelled at the group, making a shooing motion as he did. He dashed towards the shotgun, making a roll and trying to pick up the gun as he came up.

AoO: Nat 1! Fumble! Dropped weapon to prevent.
Double Move: Tumble to retrive shotgun from the ground.
09:38, Today: Colin Browne rolled 16 using 1d20+12. Tumble check.
09:34, Today: Colin Browne rolled 9 using 1d20+8. AoO vs fleeing demon.

Re: Chapter 2.1- A Precious Cargo

Colin, you are able to pick up the shotgun as you tumble to it, in the meantime the Native woman has drawn out a pistol and she shoots the still fleeing demon in the back between the shoulder blades. He pitches forward, falling from the dock into the water below with a splash, though you have no way of knowing if he is dead or not. Still, the other demon is beginning to free itself from the web. Look, I appreciate chivalry as much as the next woman, but you are going to get yourself killed if you don't hurry! There's more on the way and I cannot stay here! She climbs back on the wagon, gesturing for you to join her. Please!

Colin glanced between the girl and the demons. He quickly thought that the girl had a very good point and muttered to himself a few choice words. In one quick motion, he scooped up the knife he had dropped and jumped up on the wagon.

Re: Chapter 2.1- A Precious Cargo

Lily looks relieved that Colin has taken her advice. She quickly makes sure you are all in the wagon and then starts driving the horses as fast as they will go. You look behind you to see the demon in the web break free. By the time he does though you are out of his reach. She seems to be an excellent driver, for she guides the horses expertly around sharp corners and down narrow alleys. As you head for the main road you see dozens of hunters, all in some kind of combat with demons. It looks like something of a massacre and the Indian woman gasps at the sight of it. I'm afraid we can't help them now. If we are caught their deaths will have been in vain. She says in a thick voice full of emotion and anger. She leads the wagon towards the road, but the theft has not gone unnoticed. Some of the demons see you and they rush for their mounts. This wagon isn't going to outrun them. See if you can slow them down while I try to lose them! She shouts, indicating your firearms. If you need something more than your shotgun you can use my pistol Irishman. She offers.

ooc: At present they don't have any weapons drawn and they are far enough away they can't get you yet, so go ahead and roll 3 rounds worth of attacks. If you have spells, feel free to use them instead, whichever floats your boat.

Colin smiled as the priest opened up. Taking his shotgun, he aimed it down the street to his first target. His sight line looked good and he squeezed the trigger. The hammer swung down with a crack, but nothing happened. Colin looked down from the sight and popped the breach. In what must have been a misfire, the primer was struck and had not exploded to fire the shell. He tossed the dangerous thing into the street and loaded a fresh round of buck shot. He fired twice more.

Re: Chapter 2.1- A Precious Cargo

As the mounted demons charge the wagon, each of you manages to hit with one of your shots, though it is not enough to stop them yet. The wagon is bouncing and jolting now as Lily guides it through the streets at breakneck speed. Still, one of the horsemen gets close enough to try to climb aboard. He guides his horse to the side of the wagon and gives a leap, clinging to the side. His black eyes blaze in fury, but fortunately for the moment he is vulnerable as he tries to scramble inside the wagon....

ooc: Go ahead and roll an attack of opportunity as well as your next round please. Don't forget to roll damage just in case you hit! :D

Finally with the weapon spent he opened the chamber and dropped the spent casings into the wagon bed. He pulled the chamber and replaced it with a loaded one. As he did this he made a comment, "A shepherd's job includes beating back the wolves."

Colin saw the priest move out of the corner of his eye and swung his head around to see what had caused the effort. When the demon appeared on the side of the wagon, Colin smoothly rose and placed the shotgun firmly in the demon's chest. "Sorry mate, no free rides!" ,pulling the trigger on the massive weapon at close range.

He then proceeded to reload as the priest covered the back of the wagon.

Re: Chapter 2.1- A Precious Cargo

You both manage to hit the demon at the wagon squarely, and he gasps in pain and looks to be wounded, but he is by no means finished with you yet. Stefan manages to also shoot the demon at point blank, and after he sees Father Simon barely miss the oncoming horsemen, the Doctor mutters a quick incantation and lets loose a fireball at the nearest rider, which hits him firmly, slowing his charge, but not incapacitating him. The demon who has made it aboard gives the nearest person a swift backhand, which happens to be Colin. He is strong. Remarkably strong, and you go flying back into one of the crates with the force of it. Stop the wagon now and I'll make your deaths quick. He grins.

ooc: Next round, and don't forget to keep me apprised of your current hit points!

Colin grunted as he wiped some blood from his lip. He chuckled and moved lightning fast at the demon. He made a few quick movements that were intended to throw off his target and slashed with demon knife, dropping the shotgun as he did so.

Re: Chapter 2.1- A Precious Cargo

One of Father Simon's shots hits the demon's chest and he snarls angrily, though your attempt to dissuade him fails. Meanwhile Colin slashes his shoulder successfully and by now the thing is dripping blood everywhere. Stefan unleashes a fireball towards the riders following you and they are starting to fall back for the horses are spooked by the flames and are not cooperating. Lily tries to throw a dagger at the demon but since she is driving her aim is not the best and she misses. The jolting wagon throws off the demon as he attempts to strike Father Simon, but his second attempt is successful and he punches you in the jaw, obviously seeing your pistol as the biggest threat.

Re: Chapter 2.1- A Precious Cargo

Father Simon gets in two shots quite nicely and the demon by now realizes he is not going to survive much longer. He tries to strike Colin but misses, and likewise Colin misses him as well, but not by too much. The demon is bleeding profusely and he takes a leap from the wagon, tumbling hard on the ground behind you. None of you are doing very well, though Lily seems to be fairly well. Is everyone alright? She demands as she urges the horses even faster. We need to get rid of these crates so just hold on until we get there! I'll try to go as fast as I can!

ooc: You also get an attack of opportunity against the demon if you want to give one final shot at him on his way out.

Re: Chapter 2.1- A Precious Cargo

Lily drives like a madwoman and Stefan manages to help with wounds during the sojourn. Fortunately between the doctor and Father Simon's own expertise you are able to put things back where they belong so to speak. It doesn't take long before Lily reaches headquarters and she pulls the wagon into the alley way where there is a side entrance to building. Help me unload this quickly! We need to get this wagon out of here so no one can track it to us! She instructs, already unlocking the door. In the meantime Frederick has spotted you from the front of the building and quickly comes to help. Colin, he is one of the only people you really have met officially here so it is nice to see a familiar face. What happened?! Is everyone alright? He demands, looking worried even as he helps to unload.

Simon's mouth is still swollen, making talking awkward. He does as Lilly asked, though, unloading the wagon as fast as possible. He tried to say something. "De-monhs" but his jaw was not cooperating and he decided to just work while he still felt like it.

Re: Chapter 2.1- A Precious Cargo

ooc: Lol! Why is that so funny to me?

Lily gives a hasty nod at Father Simon's mispronounced explanation. It was something of a bloodbath. She says quietly. But we got what we came for. We need to get the wagon out of here quickly though. Frederick, do you suppose you could get rid of it, somewhere they won't find it and away from here? I'm a bit exhausted. She admits unhappily. The red haired man nods and moves fast to do as she requests. She leads you all inside, looking upset and limping a bit. Well that could have gone worse I suppose. She sighs. We'll know by the end of the night how many casualties there are. She turns to Colin. You must be Colin. Victoria told me about you. Thank you for your help. She gives a quick introduction to Father Simon and Stefan.I don't want to leave these crates unguarded. I have heard rumors of a possible spy in our midst. I don't want them getting their hands on this. Will you be able to find your way to Victoria without me?

The Indian woman smiles, looking suddenly marvelously beautiful as she does so. Normally her expression is hard, her brow furrowed and her dark eyes sharp and calculating. When she offers a rare smile though everything softens and she is suddenly lovely. Are you sure Father? You've taken quite a beating and I think you should see a healer. She points out in concern.

ooc: I'm just waiting on Colin to progress. If he doesn't post in the next day or so I'll move along. Meanwhile to save time you may both want to make listen checks so that I'll have them ready when I move on.

Colin sneered back at the road left behind them. He clutched at his likely cracked ribs, hopefully only bruised. He looked down, the trickle of blood from his wounds staining his hands. He spat in the street and regarded the Indian woman. His Irish accent resumed its normal place and he grinned. He limped into the building and leaned against a wall. "Hell of a scrap.
