This week and next week and even a little of the next are pretty busy for me. I'll still post as I can but it may only be once instead of twice a week. I'm planning for Thursday this week, so thanks for your patience :)

When was wireless telephone communication invented? (Hint it is much earlier than you think...)

Re: ooc: volume 2

Brace yourself for a rant...

I don't want this to turn into anything political or start a discussion that turns into something else because it's so easy to do and politics have nothing to do with this, but I hate people. They are the worst. End of story.

My area has been dealing with wildfires for a while now but they have been far enough away that it's done little more than cause crappy air quality and minor smoke issues but the other day some A-hole teenager deliberately set off fireworks in a gloriously beautiful area about forty minutes away we call the Gorge. He was seen filming it and laughing and when it caught fire he booked it out of there with his A-hole friends and they looked like they were having the time of their lives.

Now the wildfire is unstoppable and it's eating up miles and miles of some of the most beautiful land in the country. All the places I used to hike and visit as a child, even historical landmarks, are gone forever. FOREVER. It's so bad that ash is falling from the sky where I am. The air hurts your throat and burns your eyes. Wild animals are freaking out because their homes are gone. People are being evacuated, one of my clients is in danger of losing her house. I am extremely upset about all of this. We all are. I hate the person who did this. It was so friggin deliberate and selfish and horrible and I just want really bad things to happen to this individual because they've ruined so many lives and don't even care. That's the worst of it all. THEN, I hear that overnight thousands of dollars of firefighting equipment was stolen from the people who are trying to fix all this! I am so angry I'm getting exhausted. I know there are good people out there and all the crap Texas is dealing with has great examples of that but my area seems just to be filled with absolute scum. I think I just want to secede from the human race. End of rant.

I often say stop the planet I want to get off. I know how you feel.

The answer to my above is: first paten in 1892...that aint a typo. 1-8-9-2. There are documented observances of the guy who invented it sending wireless calls as early as 1872. Holy Moly!

In reply to Artemis (msg # 975):

That's terrible Arty!

The thing to try and remember is that you don't have to sink to their levels. Remember, there are just as many OTHER bad people out there that will take care of those kids FOR you. Just be patient, and focus on being good and happy, and try to see past it. Even if its as awful as this.

Re: ooc: volume 2

What a horrible mess. I looked it up, it's a beautiful place. :( We get bushfires all the time in Australia, most are due to people being careless or thoughtless or just plain wilfully destructive. It's sad that they just don't think about what they do.

Re: ooc: volume 2

Oh crap I meant to guess on that Simon! That's nuts! If you look at the inventors of old, they were pretty freakin amazing.

Thanks for the nice words too everyone. It's really hard for me to be positive sometimes but I'm working on it. And Penny, last year there were some fire fires too (though not as destructive or in the gorge) and they had a bunch of Australian firefighters volunteer to come and help because they had so much experience. It was really cool. Man, the only thing better than a firefighter is an Australian firefighter.... ;P
