OOC - General Chat 02

A new Out of Character is made!  And to start it off, a new topic, I've had a growing concern of late and tonight I sat down and did some math and checking and came to the conclusion that not only will half of the party be leveling soon it will also be happening a good deal sooner then intended.

Now I've already made some plans about how to get around this issue in the future, I'll be nerfing purely roleplaying/advancing the plot xp into oblivion.  Making XP sources purely encounter (a healthy mix of combat and non-combat encounters) and quest based.  With the treasure spots taken by quest rewards being taken up by roleplaying encounters are rewards.

I would also like to balance the books as it were and for that I want to ask, would you guys be cool if I collectively adjusted your Experience Points at the end of Chapter 2?  (which you are quiet close to btw)

In reply to Author (msg # 1):

Re automation - Yup change is coming and it will not be pretty.  Tbh anyone with an ounce of imagination can see it.  And while this is happening the human population continues to grow.  I am not concerned so much about the robots taking over jobs, as the human response to it.  The narrator touched on the effects of industrial revolution in the past, but not on the violence that accompanied it.  Now with millions more people set to be affected?  Well it could be dark times ahead.  Rather selfishly, I am just hoping it happens after I am gone >.>

Re XP - it is up to everyone else.  Though, I am quite happy to let Willa chug along behind.

As for us levelling up too fast, I assume you mean in regards to the plot, not in terms of time since, as previously noted, play by post can be quite slow.  If you feel it is better to limit xp rewards then do so, though personally I would rather just see smaller rewards at a similar consistency.

Also @ Jubei and Drex, in case you missed it:

quote:
Anyway, I think we should be considering how to spend our wealth.  Spending on potions is fine, but the rarity of tokens makes me think they would be better used on permanent items.  And maybe it is just me but, as the tokens belong to everyone, I find it difficult to ask for some to spend.  So, I think we should have a shopping list.  We each get to add one item to this list and once they have all been bought, we write a new one.  The item you choose for each list should be drawn from your character's wishlist.  I'll start and, if you agree, post your own or advise why you think it is a dumb idea ^^.  If everyone agrees, I'll collate the items and make a post on the treasury thread which I will update as items are purchased and new lists written.

Oh, I also think we should keep a small reserve 'banked' for emergency items, such as potions and other things.

Shopping list, 1st draft (to be moved to the treasury at a later date, if everyone agrees):

Bank: 2 tokens
Cash on Hand: 4 tokens

Willa's request: Accurate Rod of Corruption (level 3)
Current Cost: 4 tokens.
Cost at next level: 2 tokens.
Purchase preference: Next level (for reduction in cost)

To help spread the wealth, it may be worth adding in a condition that if you find an item of random loot that you will use, your request is removed from the current list?

As an aside - is there any reason 'NOT' to make the weapon/implement you purchase a superior version, even if you do not have the correct feat for using it?  As I understand things, without the feat it is effectively just a normal version of the item anyway, so there is no drawback?
