Re: The Haunting of the Rose - Chapter 3, Against Nature

Eventually ths dizziness passed and Willa managed to find her footing.  She looked about curiously to try and gauge her surroundings and heard the distant noises.

"What is?"  She asked woozily.

17:24, Today: Willa rolled 11 using 1d20. Rocking and Reeling.

Unfortunately for Phelan, it seemed that channeling the energy required had done more of a number on him than he thought. He swayed a bit, eventually collapsing with a groan. "Hate... Teleporting..."

Re: The Haunting of the Rose - Chapter 3, Against Nature

Not too far away, Daryl was clutching his sides and trying to keep his guts where they belonged. His blurred vision was not helping and closing his eyes made it worse so he just whined and knelt on the floor to feel more stable.

16:28, Today: Daryl Landgazer rolled 8 using 1d20. Yay sickness.

Phelan faded for a moment as he found a nearby bookshelf to collapse against while Daryl almost joined him in a similar activity.
[Phelan is now stunned for basically this post.  He’ll be back to normalafter that.]

Outside the adventurers could hear a loud roar, dulling all other noise for a moment followed by a muffled crash and screams.
A loud bell began to ring.

Willa's eyes opened wide "Undeads here?  Everyone think undeads here already?  Must help Kyssea!"  After a brief moment looking about lost, she suddenly shouts: "Umbrean tunnels!  Can get people in tunnels!"

Jubei shook his head, mostly to clear his head from the rests of the mild confusion from the teleportation. He furrowed his brows as he heard Willa's suggestion, before he gave a nod to that. "That sounds like a good idea. Lets find out what the current situation is however.", the big dragonblood said and then made his way towards the door of the library, to see how the situation actually was outside.

Jubei found the lobby to be empty and the front door to be locked and bared from the inside.  Gazing through the covers of a nearby window Jubei could see a few – no more than five – ghostly apparitions drifting down the road outside.  They seemed to be patrolling.
Curiously Jubei had not noticed any signs of either the scribe or his assistant.

Nodding his head in some sort of acknowledgement and thanks for some unseen force, before coming back to the moment. "We must engage now! And If the foul sorcerer who raised them can be found then our efforts must be focused on him." Drex looks for stairs or any other way out other than the bared door.

If there are any he will point it out and let his party know that he intend to make an aerial assault. other wise he will point out the possible exit to them. He does not wish to compromise the entrants to Volta house.

08:25, Today: Drex rolled 19 using 1d20+12. Perception check.

Jubei furrowed his scaled brows as he made his round through the house to check the windows, giving a low growl as he returned to the others. "We have five ghosts... or something that looks like ghosts... immediately outside of the building and patrolling. We probably have to engage them if we want to leave.", he said, maybe willfully ignoring that Drex was already well and up to doing just that.

Drex found a very narrow staircase leading to small wooden door at the top, it was locked.  Listening at it he could just barely hear someone breathing inside.  No light shone from inside.  Beyond that Drex believed there was another door at the very back of the library he had tried as well, it had also been locked.

At the mention of ghosts, Phelan shook his head rapidly to clear off the dizziness, running  to the window as he stashed the device within his new cloak. Narrowing his eyes, he sent out his magical senses to figure out what might be going on.

Arcana to figure out what magic might be causing this: 33!

Though it was dark outside the window and there was certainly a few lights off in the distance, where exactly was hard to tell given the near uniformity of the inky blackness.  Phelan drew his awareness inward toward the infinitesimal point of light through which magic passed to him and from him, at his touch it exploded outward illuminating the darkness as both light would and not.

Re: The Haunting of the Rose - Chapter 3, Against Nature

Everyone hears Drex speaking to someone upstairs: "Hello in there, it is Drex and the rest of the party from the Adventurers Guild. We have teleported into your house. We are going to remove the barracked to get out so that we can stop the undead." He doesn't wait for and answer and heads back down."We'll have to move the barracked to get out." Drex said as he starts to move the stuff blocking the door.

Re: The Haunting of the Rose - Chapter 3, Against Nature

Jubei gave a nod to what Drex suggested and walked towards the door, but didn't actually try to remove any of the barricades, at least not until everyone was ready to actually go out. "Do we have any means to take care of all of the undead at the same time, or do we have to take care of them one by one?", Jubei asked the others, just to make sure that he hadn't overlooked some helpful means at their disposal.

Re: The Haunting of the Rose - Chapter 3, Against Nature

Drex heard only a whimper from the other side of the door as he spoke.  After Jubei had spoken Morrey, translating for Midagarra squawked before he said ”I believe there may be a means to destroy all the undead in one stroke, however doing so will be dangerous. ” the bird some to be getting rather agitated at what it was hearing from Midagarra even as he continued ”I spoke with the roaches and have learned that the undead are marching out with a relic from the necropolis, the sarcophagus of the Great Wizard Kendal.” Midagarra paused a moment to let this news sink in.
”When I received this staff-“ the druid thumped her staff against the wooden floor as Morrey spoke “-I was shown of vision of it and myself piercing the seal upon Kendal’s sarcophagus with the jewel at its top and the surrounding darkness was swallowed by light from within the sarcophagus.  This leads me to believe that either some power from these two objects will appear or the clouds will be forced open when this happens.”

Re: The Haunting of the Rose - Chapter 3, Against Nature

"Numbers are growing." Phelan announced quietly as he focused back on the physical world. "There is a mass of magical energy moving westward. It's growing larger, filling up empty spaces in the world. This may be the sarcophagus you have mentioned. But..." He trailed off, throwing a look of confusion at Willa. "It... It has the sense of the Umbreans." He shook his head.

"Whatever happens, we will need to be very, very careful."

He thought over Midagarra's vision, frowning in contemplation.

Jubei was tapping his chin at what he had heard and gave a rumble as he stared off into the distance. "Hmm... how could we reach that thing without fighting our way through the whole undead army first... we could try a diversion and Midagarra sneaks in from behind. Or I could try and run her there..", the dragonborn muttered, mostly to himself, but loud enough for the others to hear. Maybe he wanted input on those musings. He then paused and looked around. "If we can manage that push, we should really consider a longer break, we need time to actually.. recuperate too."

Re: The Haunting of the Rose - Chapter 3, Against Nature

Midagarra had begun to speak, to which Morrey cawed and had just started speaking when he suddenly cut off as another’s words echoed, not in the air but within the chambers their souls YOU HAVE TARRIED FAR TOO LONG.
A thing the colour of long dead ashes and barely the shape of a man cloaked in roiling, oily shadow-smoke stood or perhaps floated at the edge of the bundle of adventurers.
UNLIKE HIS MASTER THE NECROMAGUS WILL SLAY THIS ENTIRE VILLAGE THEN YOU WILL HAVE NO CHANCE OF ESCAPE. the white, waxy death-mask of the creature stared unblinkingly at the party with the glowing blue embers of his eyes.
WITH SPEED AND WIT YOU COULD HAVE REACHED THE SARCHOPHUS BY NOW HAVE BEEN DONE WITH YOUR MISSION.  ARE YOU SO FREIGHTENED OF THE FORCES ARRAYED AGAINST YOU THAT BELIEVE YOURSELVES POWERLESS?  YOU FACE ONLY A SMALL HORDE OF A HUNDED OF THE WEAKEST OF UNDEAD CREATURES, YOUR GREATEST OPPOSITION IS THE NECROMAGUS AT THE ARMY’S HEAD AND HIS GREAT BEAST.  STRIKE OUT NOW, THE CHAOS OF THE BATTLES IN THE VILLAGE WILL COVER YOU.  JUST ACT RATHER THEN SITTING HERE WAITING FOR THE PERFECT MOMENT!  DOZENS OF PEOPLE ARE DYING OUT THERE AND YOU CAN SAVE THEM IF YOU WOULD ONLY ACT!
