On top of my surgery, Mom came home from nursing rehab Monday a week ago, and was a train wreck all week. We finally figured out it was a drug interaction problem. Fixed it for the weekend, but still having an issue.


Anyway, it seems as if I may have turned a corner today, as I now have some energy again. So let's get this party re-started!

Mostly recovered. As things have been going, I've probably got another full week of recovery... which is mostly to let the internal stitches finish dissolving.

I sort of had a bit of a relapse over the weekend. Just couldn't focus my brain on doing posting. I'd sit at the computer and stare at a post, read it five times and still not know what it said.

On the bright/dark side, mom was in such bad shape when she came home from rehab that she needed 24-hour care, which we just couldn't provide, so we had to bite the bullet and put her in a nursing home. While we still have some small hope that she'll get better, enough to eventually come home again, she may have passed the point of no return, and will just continue to deteriorate.

We visit her almost every day, but she's still out of it most of the time.

Anyway, I still have low energy. Minimal effort tires me out, and I tend to crash early in the evenings right now. Night time used to be my most prolific posting time, but now I have to get to it early in the day before I turn into a zombie.

My mum was like that but she had to go back into hospital and when they were going to send her to a hospice, they decided she was too ill and to go home, then back in hospital the next day. I hope your mum recovers.

So, still recovering from the surgery. It's mostly about not having any energy yet. Then I came down with a cold last week, which had me coughing all night so I couldn't sleep and was even more tired the next day.

Then my computer picked up a virus last week.

We had to send mom to a long-term care facility because she couldn't stay awake for very long, which made it too hard for us to care for her. She's been there for just about 2 weeks and not getting better. So the facility sent her to the hospital Friday.

The tentative diagnosis now is that she's got some sort of blood cancer. Normally fairly treatable but at her age and in her current health condition, the prognosis isn't very good.

Anyway, the stress tires me out, too, so have been struggling to keep up with all my games. I think I've finally got it under control again...

Absolutely understandable that RL takes precedence over a game, GM.  Please accept my deepest well wishes for you and your mother's health.  I do hope that the situation resolves itself in short order, I know how debilitating the stress and worry can be long term.  Take care of yourself and your family, do what can/need for them first and foremost.

Then, and only then, come back to us if and when you are able.  We, the players (and waiters), have the easy part.

Game-wise, I think that I have already stated that Dany doesn't have a tent on her.  But, if Tealon or anyone else does ... more power to 'em!  Also note, that with the hook and tent you could potentially chuck them over the cliff in a nice package...:D

Well, the never-ending story... trials and tribulations of the GM...

Tests still haven't come back (or the doctors haven't informed us if they have) identifying the particular cancer. But the hospital sent her to Hope Hospice... to die, really. Only she started getting better. Apparently part of her condition was due to too much calcium in her blood. Now that that's been treated, she's back to 'normal', as much as she has been since last September. The last six months of frequent hospital visits and recovery rehab stays has left her weak and tired, but she's mentally alert most of the time now.

Good news for her, bad news for Hospice, as they now perceive her as not dying fast enough! The prognosis for multiple myalomas was 4-7 months before it kills her. Not what Hospice wants to hear, so they are kicking her out tomorrow. So it's back to rehab until she gets worse.


Been trying to get to this game for a few days now, but something keeps interfering with my efforts... sleep, mostly!

Hope everyone who celebrates Easter in one way or another (even if just an excuse to each your body weight in chocolate) enjoyed themselves over the weekend and rest of the time.

I'm ready to fight and lose some of the chocolate weight (I know it wont work but thinking of exercise can help cant it lol)

I probably need to rethink what I was doing with this game and where it is going.

Sorry about the delay everyone.  Been dealing with some family issues, which has limited my free time for the moment.  Still, I will try to keep up as best I can.

I never remember what games I've mentioned this in, but since my gallbladder surgery Feb 1st, I have been really low on energy. How that affects my games is that I tire out easily, and then I can't think straight. Games and/or responses that require creative thinking are the ones that suffer first, as I stare at a post trying to think what to reply, and nothing comes.

So, I'm still around... just struggling to keep up with some of my games, like this one.

We appreciate all the work you put into this game. Are you lacking vitamins or is it the pills you've been taking? I've had the effect from both these things. Have a word with doc, shouldn't still be this bad. Heal well.

It could be either or both of those things, though I'm getting an inkling that my circadian rhythm got skewed somewhere along the line.

In any case, and I suggest this with all GMs (unless they complain), KEEP POSTING. Every and any post could be the nudge that sparks a creative flash. Yeah, I know it's hard when you are waiting on a GM's input or answer, but a post that has introspection (such as the character wondering what they'll find--might trigger inspiration in the GM) or conversation with another PC all work to make the game 'flow' better... and more quickly.

Just saying.
