Re: Show Some Grit, Perhaps?

He had a level adjustment of +2 I think, for being a trollkin...didn't everyone start at level 5?

Hmmm... Uh, I didn't.  I started at level 3...  You lucky, trollkin, you...

Re: Show Some Grit, Perhaps?

No, everyone was supposed to start at level 3.

At 4th level, an arcane mechanik gets the special ability Charge Accumulator.

I don't see anything on your character sheet that indicates you would be 5th level.

The ECL +2 just means that you would be the equivalent of a 5th level character because of special abilities, not that you have 5 levels in any class. I think we toned your character down in the beginning to accommodate the game.

Re: Show Some Grit, Perhaps?

By the way, my copy of the IKCG says that Trollkin are only level adjustment +1 (but, I will freely admit that we are also gestalt... so, I don't know how that affects the leveling).

EDIT:  By the way, I just reread the Grit gaining rules and Dany needs to be more bloodthirsty...:D  I don't think that she has killed anything at this point.  Only incapacitated a lot of sea devils, menites and such.

Re: Show Some Grit, Perhaps?

The gestalt for your 1st three levels was just to create a stronger base character without piling on levels. It doesn't apply to any levels over 3rd.

Originally, I had expected to track XPs for level advancement, but, as I've learned in my other games, it's just too much bookkeeping. What I've decided to do is use encounters to mark level advancement. Two major encounters = level progression; 2 minor encounters = one major encounter.

This is because the encounters are already designed around sufficient XPs to be a challenge.

Ah, okay.  So, we are only bumping our 'main' class to level 4.  Cool.  That simplifies things.

Even if it doesn't give Dany access to level 2 divine spells...:D

Re: Show Some Grit, Perhaps?

Ok then. Now that you mention it I did lose some points or something but I made them up by taking the bodyguard class.

What? We don't advance the gestalt class? That does make leveling up simpler. Time to crack open the Liber Mechanica

Re: Show Some Grit, Perhaps?

GM:  With respect to hitpoints at the new level are we required to roll on the (tricksy) dice roller?  Or is it merely 1/2 (rounded up or down or some such) plus Con bonus at each level?

I think I've got the sheet updated. Gonna miss the attack bonus and the 8 sided hit dice.

Max HP.  Cool.  I can live with that.  Or at least, that is the hope right? ;)

Re: Show Some Grit, Perhaps?

My computer just gave up the ghost today. The screen stopped displaying anything, though it's lit up, so I'm figuring it's either the  monitor that somehow burnt out or else the videocard went out. Or maybe the hamster died.

Anyway, I can use my friend's computer on a more sporadic basis until I can get mine fixed or replaced.

Anyway, I'm still around; I just may not be able to stay on top of things all that quickly.

Re: Show Some Grit, Perhaps?

Thanks guys!  I've always loved the concept of Iron Kingdoms but never really got to play much.  The games kept falling apart by level 3...

At the moment I'm L4 Gunmage.. not sure what PrCs lend themselves well to it.. any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Show Some Grit, Perhaps?

I like the idea of a Warlock variant that focuses his blasts through a pistol... But that be an alternate version of the base class, not a PrC.
