Re: Happy New Year!

Kaspar Radoslaw Gorski:
I boo-boo'd in my last post in Briefing Room.

So did Gavin, I think.

I believed that scene was already over and that we'd skip to the next brifing soon after that. Now I can only wait ;) Carry on.

Gas Masks

Freyda:
OOC: I am waiting for the GM to answer if she has something that could work. He may have missed the ooc comment in the earlier post. I don't have access to the rules, but for the Asgard, it would be painful to use something like a mask. A helmet would be difficult enough to bear. I'm not sure that her kit might not have something like a re-breather in Star Wars. I would think with her races stress about their species dying out that they wouldn't have some simple precautions against NBC, or genetically enhanced immunity to those type of things.

Yeah, I figgered something like that.

Truth be told, I was a little surprised when you said that Asgard all run around naked. I had always assumed that they wore a super-high-tech skin suit that simply mimiced their skin tone; kinda like the black skin suit Vassandra wears. It would not only provide environmental protection and comfort, but probably had other built in nano-goodies.

Hopefully we'll find out soon. I don't think there's any "resistance" to this stuff -- the slime ate just about ANYTHING that was soft; we even suspect that it could eat its way through silicon gaskets, eventually.

Re: Gas Masks

In reply to Marcus Wright (msg # 702):

Okay my fellow X2U-238'ers, Kaspars hunch is...

We've ID'd the metal discs as "religious medals" that are often worn by Free Jaffa wannabees -- that is, Jaffa who are doing their own free-thinking, while still serving a Goa'uld master.

Kaspar is thinking that, if at some future time the Team gets caught by those Jaffa outside (c'mon! You know it'll happen ^_^), then maybe, just maybe, some still alive "free" Jaffa among them will see the tokens, and maybe think that we can help him/her to be free, if s/he helps us.  Just a little "capture" insurance, right?

Re: Gas Masks

I don't know why the non-religious free Jaffa should wear religious symbols. I think they'd more likely wear a non-religious coded symbol of affiliation.

I'd say that loyalist Jaffa might also recognise us as being in league with the rebel Jaffa, and shoot us on sight, but that's already a given.

BTW, the power supply in my computer seems to have failed, so I may be slower posting for a while. And I'm away from my PDFs. (Resolved)

Re: Gas Masks

In reply to Hilda (msg # 706):

I'm thinking that it might be a kinda "hide in plain sight" thing.  I mean, how many times a day do you see someone with an oval "medallion" around their neck? Do you immediately think "Oh, that person is wearing a St Christopher Medal, they must be Roman Catholic."  In my own, personal, case, you would be wrong -- while I do wear a St Christopher medal, I have not been a (practicing) Roman Catholic in over 30 years.

And even then, St. Chris medals tend to be worn by all flavors of Catholic, not just the stick-up-the-bum Romans.  I've even known a few Protestants to wear'em.

So, my point is, that while a Jaffa wearing "religious" paraphernalia that isn't focused on their Goa'uld God probably is a no-no, it's probably such a minor infraction that it tends to get overlooked...until you really screw up, then it's added to your list of crimes ^_^

OOC

I am very sorry for my disappearances lately, everyone.  We have two computers in our house, and they're both dying slow deaths.  We're trying to save up for a new one, but I don't know when that will be.  Until then, I spend very little time on the internet, but I'll do the best I can.

Thank you for reminding me, StarMaster.

No problem. Players always wind up with RL problems, dead computers being a particular nasty one.

Computer Crash

My computer just gave up the ghost today. The screen stopped displaying anything, though it's lit up, so I'm figuring it's either the  monitor that somehow burnt out or else the videocard went out. Or maybe the hamster died.

Anyway, I can use my friend's computer on a more sporadic basis until I can get mine fixed or replaced.

Anyway, I'm still around; I just may not be able to stay on top of things all that quickly.

Ouch. I've had to deal with both of those problems on my parent's machines. Good luck sorting it out.
