Re: OOC : Relaxation room

I'm pretty sure The Wizard of Oz exists in the Stargate universe. :)

Heck, it definitely does:

Re: OOC : Relaxation room

How do we go about choosing equipment and bundles? Do we post in-character in the Armory and Supply threads? Should we discuss how we spend resource points and what else we might need?

Re: OOC : Relaxation room

I imagine you could ask for OOC advice like any other game but the final determination of where your points go comes down to you, with the possible exception of some of the points being shared into group resources like a MALP if there is not already one in the mission profile.

I expect the armory thread could benefit from some IC description of the gearing up process with some detail about which items (or from which shelves bundles) are selected, any leftover points could be in an OOC line as an ongoing total so anyone yet to post can use them.

I would not however want to see the armory thread turn into a 10 page conversion about who wants what toys every time we go on a mission.

Re: OOC : Relaxation room

Yeah, I think ideally we'd discuss that in mission briefings. But this one is looking pretty basic, so we shouldn't need anything fancy. We can summon new stuff through the gate if we really need it.

I'll try to sort out my gear picks and bundles tomorrow or the weekend. With the house-rules, I can pick much more, perhaps some flavourful stuff.

Re: OOC : Relaxation room

I would say that personal bundles will likely not change too often since they are mostly determined by a given character's specialty.

Mission bundles are likely determined by the mission and team leader with little say for anyone else unless they make the proper requisitions through the supply chain.

Weapon bundles may change often, but are once again mostly character choice unless mission profile dictates a rocket launcher or something else ridiculous.

As for RP and GP... GP are probably mostly up to the individual unless the team commander says 'hey person bring this.  I would also agree with Vasandra, RP are likely a pooled resource for the team to cover any operational holes.

Re: OOC : Relaxation room

I picked up a FRED with resource points, so don't bother worrying about that.

I am also having trouble finding something worth having that costs GP so if you have any suggestions let me know, the backup plan will be lots of computer software so if you expect to grab one of those yourself let me know so we don't have to much overlap.

Re: OOC : Relaxation room

My depression and headaches are acting up tonight, so I don't think I'll be posting anything tonight.

I hadn't really planed on having the mess encounter be that short.  In most fiction, what happen to him in Afghanistan is the sort of thing which is better if it comes out later.  (If people want, I could have it come out sooner.  It has to do with some alarming statistics which have come out about the wars.)

Also, I was hoping to help move the game along, since I saw a comment about how everyone seems to be stuck in the mess in the middle of the night.

Re: OOC : Relaxation room

Guys... is there any chance we can stop quoting everyone else's posts, please?  I find it breaks the flow of the story completely.   If you want to refer back to a previous post, just hit the 'reply' button... or even better, just reference the conversation within your own writing (Sarah turns to Hilda after she's spoken to the men and...)

Of course, if I'm completely out of line, please tell me....

Also, General, just to confirm.  Have we been summoned to the Briefing Room?

Re: OOC : Relaxation room

I only quote if its been a couple of posts since the post I'm responding to, and/or there's a lot to respond to in order. That's just to serve as a proper reminder or for context. I try to minimise the quoted material.

Re: OOC : Relaxation room

Thanks :-) A line for reference is ok.  But the quotes and quotes in quotes can end up taking up a page and a half on a mobile!

Re: OOC : Relaxation room

I like the single line for a quote if needed.

Doing this stuff by smart phone is rough.  responding to OOC is not bad but colored text and pasting rolls to the mission threads is a pain.

Re: OOC : Relaxation room

Even not on a smartphone the break in continuity from the reposting of full posts, or very nearly full posts, particularly when they are still on the same page is quite distracting and I would have made a comment about it eventually even if you had not Sarah.

It is not however any more troublesome than reading the forced past tense used in what is obviously a present tense syntax, but having already commented on that to no effect I have given up on the hope of a uniformly timed story.

Re: OOC : Relaxation room

I admit I'm inconsistent with my tenses, but sometimes one seems awkward. I tend to go with what I think sounds the most reasonable. And as long as it's understood, I don't see a problem.

As for Sarah's question, I was originally going to have an announcement summoning everyone to the Briefing Room but since they were already in the Infirmary, I was just having Dr. Frasier relay them to the Briefing Room.

Hi all. As if there weren't enough crowd in here already, I'm supposed to join the game after finishing the character creation stage. Seeing that my computer behaves the way it does though, I start to think it may take some more time than anticipated.

Hope your computer feels better soon.

As to tenses. I am pretty bad with that but try to match the 'speed' of the moment I am Roleplaying in and lo the person I am Roleplaying with.

Hello to all the new faces!

And an Asgard! :D Don't worry Forseti, you don't have to go to any church, as you're already a god. I hope you won't mind Hilda worshipping you. :)

Then you and I sir must have a length and philosophical discussion.   It would be a quite a feather in my cap to convert the first alien to Catholicism.
