On the road

What ever happens as far as fine detail goes -  we have traveled from our home cities to valarez - and gained a fair few levels on the way.

We know we have  been adventuring with Gnicely to save a grave (or more) from being disturbed by a necromancer (ironically something my table-top party have just done)

But what else have we done to develop 3 extra levels from where we started?

Re: On the road

I suppose the first thing would be to resolve the investigations we started way back when -  when Mummy was set up by some nasty man.  Because obviously she wouldn't do anything like that.

It might be best to say that we lost both parents due to that adventure -  which makes it really easy for us to go travelling ...

Re: On the road

Perhaps the Captain's drink problem finally tipped him over the edge into paranoid schizophrenia? He was responsible for setting up our Mother for the thefts. When we learnt the truth and tried to rescue her he signed warrants for our arrest as well. One of us was captured and taken to confront Mother with some threat hanging over our heads, to force her to confess but she turned the tables on the Captain and defended us at the cost of her own life. The Captain is disgraced but the warrants for our arrest have not been revoked, so we chose to leave the town and all those unhappy memories behind us.

Re: On the road

As part of our journey here, I think we would have spent some time as caravan guards -  it certainly fits the bill for a cleric of takri.  (ie ME!)

I am sure we will have been attacked by bandits (and perhaps nasty humanoids) on a couple of occasions.

Re: On the road

There were orcs, definitely orcs! They're my favourite enemies. I got to make some half orcs ... er, with my sword, I mean.

Re: On the road

Boys !  You'll make me blush !  <re-reads character background/personality> Ah, no, actually Berta would make you blush.  Never mind.  Carry on.

Hah !  Just posted one quick suggestion in the Gnicely PM in Valarez, so will repeate here to keep it all together before you two rewrite history without me !  <grrins>

Previous adventure back in our home town ?  Visitor Gnicely framed and locked up ?  Captain Father REALLY doesn't like Bards ! <grins>  Jail break followed by much derring do till we all uncovered the real culprit (maybe somewhere in the wilderness for Gedd, this time).  Gnicely sent us a postcard from Valarez and when things got bad we decamped.

BUT I know we speculated before IC that the Captain was behind it all, so Robin's take makes for a MUCH better back story ... caravan guards is an easy way to make a living, plus the chance of adventures on the road.

We may even have ended up back in home town at some point (I dare say we could find a way in unseen and trust to our disguises) - maybe the Captain had died, and we'd wanted to attend the burial (how could Wyn resist !), but found there were questions about his death (one or two of the old guard would do Berta a favour, at least at a price and/or the old gardener/his wife might know something which they tell us not realising the import).  Could be pushing it to fit Gnicely into that, but there'd be other towns/cities for such frivolities.
