The Traveller:
The Guardian:
A monocular tentacled green Alpha Centauran asks: "Is there a reason why the physiognomy of so many species, presumably independently evolved, matches up to the Gallifreyan form rather than a sensible and versatile hexapodal body plan?"

"I do agree that a hexapodal body plan is sensible. But did it ever occur to, my monocled friend, that we on Gallifrey were matching up to these species, instead of them matching up to us?"

Oh, I wish that were how it went down...

In reply to Smoke Alarm (msg # 885):

Yeah; the new series has very clearly stated the other way around.

"You look human!"

"You look timelord!"

Post later.Home dramas.

Re: OOC (Clarifications and Wonderful Neepery, Part the Third) a

The novels offered two conflicting and utterly unnecessary explanations. In one, Time Lords evolved practically first, and apparently defined (naturally or deliberately) a universe-wide template for other species. In the other, human supremacists got hold of a reality-warping device that made a lot of aliens humanoid.

Like Star Trek and its precursor aliens seeding humanoid forms throughout the galaxy, Who writers also seemed to think the prevalence of human-looking aliens needed a special explanation. Can't anyone just say the humanoid form is a simple and efficient result of convergent evolution for a typical landscape?

Good luck with the dramas!

I remember Tennant giving a speech that humanity cycled through a variety of forms until coming back to the two arms, two legs thing.

"The Chamber? Time-space fissure? You talk funny. Kinda like the Traveller and her companions come to think of it."

"Yes, yes, if the Traveller was here I'm sure she could sort this out in a snap, but we're running short of legendary Time Lords in these parts.  You're stuck with us.  Did I not mention that if you don't get away you are really likely to die?"

HEE HEE HEE HOO HOO HAH HAH HAH HO HO LOLOLOLOL GIGGLE

Edit - I fully expect the whole WAIT YOU'RE NOT THE TRAVELLER SHE'S MUCH CHUBBIER think (the 2nd Traveller also had dark hair and wore glasses)

One of my favorite Big Finishes ever is The One Doctor, where the Sixth Doctor shows up to find a celebration under way for the magnificent victory just concluded by "The Doctor", in this case, a con artist impersonating him and scamming the locals with a fake invasion.  Our Doctor is roundly lambasted for trying to steal the fraud's glory.  With a predictable reaction.

And then the real alien menace shows up....

So a similar gimmick to The Next Doctor except played as a full-on farce.  Mel is everyone's straight man in the story, and Bonnie Langford is magnificent at it.

Back in RIFTS BlondeTrav had a device that let her temporarily take her old faces at the cost of HPs, ISP and SDC. I think she momentarily used the thing to become The Marshall and 2nd Trav. She also become 2nd Trav when we visited The Mathematician and his Paradox zone allies. Would have kicked their asses then and their but we had bigger fish to fry.

Smoke's still in the TARDIS.

Outside, is Sando still around? I need to decide how a Blue Kang meets the guy from the Blue Man Group.

He is.  He didn't come right up to the portal with Kalath but is hanging around nearby, not really sure what is going on but not inclined to abandon her in the face of weirdness.

The last two posts from the Traveller are geographically incompatible.  Pick whether you're next to Kalath and the hole, or next to Stanley.

While you're at it, Shenxiao is plainly one of the blue-uniformed lictors, not with the Chamber.  Unless that was a deliberate non sequitur.

I,if not the fandom, are expecting the Blake Lively-Michelle Yeoh crossover episode. Probably when Lively-Trav is trying to get friendly with someone cute. "What are you doing here? I'M BUSY."

Blue Kangs! Blue Kangs! Blue Kangs!

Are best.

The Guardian:
"Wait, what?  So you're saying you actually know the Traveller, and weren't just wishing out loud for an improbable savior to show up?"  The man looks inexpressibly hopeful all of a sudden.  "Can you comm her?  We need her here!"

At just that moment, the roaring of the Traveller's blue box cuts over the developing cacophony, and it appears, crashing down into the Bazaar a hundred meters away or so.

"...Well never mind then...." the man trails off.

Next time this happens: "Oh. We were kind of hoping for the Doctor. But you'll do, I guess..."

In my personal Trav Lore, this was actually a thing with the 1st and 2nd Traveller. 2nd Trav would show up wanting to help and then when folks would be disappointed that it wasn't The Doctor, she'd get all stompy and mad. "I AM NOT a bargain basement time lord with boobies! I AM THE TRAVELLER! If you don't want me, I'll get into sweet boy and leave you with your damned problem! I'm me, not a girl version of him!" 1st Trav was too new to the thing to really object and was all kind and gracious. The Marshall was usually the problem that people pleaded to the Doctor for help from.

You guys saw 5th Trav's reaction with her HE'S GONE rant at the UNIT guy back in the Egypt episode.

More Kangs would be delightful, as long as we don't get caught in an inter-Kang war.

He points to his knee, which looks like it is fixed in some sort of semi-mechanical brace. and beams.  Despite the seeming injury he bows almost double to Smoke Alarm.  "If a trifle hobbled by the magnificent fisticuffs of spear-girl-when-she-was-being-spearless-girl.  Comrades of spear-girl Kalath must be heroes of legend!  They sail down from heaven on great wheel-less wing-less chariots of blue and they duel weird doors of the sky and they slay them!  Wondrous!"
