OOC (Who Lore & Recent Spoilers)

As requested by the Traveller.  I figure we can leave this floating for future use too.

Re: OOC (Who Lore & Recent Spoilers)

Without getting overly specific about Time of the Doctor, I'll just note that with every one of these mythology-heavy episodes I end up holding my breath to see what outright contradictions Moffat is going to throw at me. :)

Re: OOC (Who Lore & Recent Spoilers)

A few things -

Trav went to the Prydonian academy with Theta Sigma. She's known his name since they both started adventuring.

Of course, we can hand wave this by simply saying that by the time Trav finds out (ie, gets the signal from the opening of Time of the Doctor), it's all over with.

Now, I understand the difficulties of trying to slavishly follow the show (and if Gary needs to go off canon, I understand. But I'm wondering how things will play out when Trav meets 12.

Also, the Time Lords gave 11 a whole new set of Regenerations. So, new rules!

Never tell me the rules!

I like to imagine that a future Marshall and her Robotech allies helped the Papal Mainframe defend Tranzalore from the fleets of Cybermen and Daleks that besieged it. But that's my headcanon.

Re: OOC (Who Lore & Recent Spoilers)

Only thing is if that was the case; wouldn't she have died when the Daleks infiltrated? Or did she buzz off before then?

Re: OOC (Who Lore & Recent Spoilers)

I'd ignore it until you want to do something with it. It's silly that the message is everywhere and everywhen. Maybe we're far enough in the future to miss it or missed the translation. Or maybe "Time" is always just a few episodes or a season ahead of where we are.

This is our Who-niverse, so we don't have to follow the show (especially since continuity is shot).

Re: OOC (Who Lore & Recent Spoilers)

Actually, Moffat taking a blow torch to Continuity benefits us - Gary can change things on just as easy a whim. What may even be interesting is that Trav is the last remnant of the Doctor actually using the Moment - she's evidence for that timeline, that it was a fixed point in time and that it's not so easy to go backies. "Booby, you idiot, I was THERE when you did it - you can't just wave your hands and say magic time lord bullshit! Time Lord triumphant, my ass!"

Re: OOC (Who Lore & Recent Spoilers)

Eh. I like Moffatt more than I like RTD; but my biggest issue with him is 'timey-wimey wibbly-wobbly'. As in his argument is that the Doctor not using the Moment -always- happened; it's just that he only remembers it now. See The Wedding of River Song for another example of that.

Smoke Alarm's right. If you're setting a game of DW in a particular time period; it's best you just ignore anything that came after it; unless it suits your purposes. Much as I admire a lot of Moffatt's work; he's a lot harder to just work into a game than RTD is. Moffatt loves using time travel as a plot device more than just a 'getting from point A to point B'. Which means trying to work within his evolving universe is very hard.
