Night 12: The Sea of Dust

As the excitement of the battle, the traps and the treasure finally starts to fade the members of Team Arda-Nuff finally begin to realise just how tired they are. It is now just about sunset at the end of day 12, which is just when they would normally be waking up, but normal sleep patterns have been completely disrupted today. The previous night had been spent travelling to the town of Kester with their caravan of Paynim nomad prisoners and horses. They arrived near dawn and had little rest before entering Kester as soon as the gates opened in the morning, then spent the whole day trading and shopping in the marketplace. They teleported out straight afterwards about half an hour before dusk. So the team have all been awake and busy for almost 24 hours. It is time to rest!

Night 12: The Sea of Dust

Dregz yawns tiredly as he surveys his weary comrades.  Certainly now that they have garnered the next part of the Magic Stick, they could be on their way in moments ... but even loyal servants of the gods need their rest.

"Bargrivyek says it time for fire an' feastin' an' feedin' an' ... an' ... forty winks !!" the little goblin priest announces magnaminously, patting the bag containing the Holy Book respectfully. "It is written !"

Night 12: The Sea of Dust

When Jurz gets out the magic tree, Bully carves a groove into a centipede claw to rig up as a funnel to roll silver coins into the slot.  He puts through his 2500 sp and collects the holy water in the bottles found in the other rooms and stashes them in his pack - a lifetime supply of holy water.  He thanks Oopses for the food and settles down on the comfy underbelly of the centipede like Min to enjoy the centipede legs and soup, and gnaws off some gnome-on-the-bone just to see what she tasted like, and cos he wouldn't want to disappoint her ghost after he promised and all ...

"Just one sleep I fink.  Wheres we goin next Dregzie?  Has ya had da dream yet?"

Night 12: The Sea of Dust

With the excitement over and fatigue setting in everyone settles down to feast, sort through their treasures and finally to have a well-earned sleep. Minmorc drags Oopses upstairs to set up a cooking fire in the half-buried ground floor level of the ruined building above. They discover the tracks of the two giant centipedes that had come down the stairs through the door that the team had left open earlier but there is no sign of anything else to disturb them while everything is cooked to perfection.

Bully persuades Jurz to bring out the O'Baddy Bonsai Tree, which is a small bonsai tree in a silver pot that drips greenish holy water from a tiny tube inserted in the tree trunk. At the back of the silver pot is a horizontal slot about 1.25 inches long and less than a quarter of an inch wide, just the right size to insert silver coins. The bonsai tree will convert 100 silver coins and one pint of water to half a pint of concentrated holy water in 100 minutes. Each half pint flask has the same effect as a normal pint flask of holy water, or 2 concentrated half pints could be stored in a normal one pint flask to deliver 2 doses of holy water at the same time. If the group rests for say 10 hours in total that would be 600 minutes and the tree can convert 600sp and 12 pints of water into 6 half pints of concentrated holy water.

OOC: I am still working out the details of Dregz's dreams, but while you are waiting the good news is that the nomad camp battle and this temple basement encounter give everyone enough experience to level up. Everyone now has 10,252XP and can advance to ECL 5.

Everyone can make their own decisions about whether they want to carry any of the silver coins or other valuable items from the armoury such as rusty suits of chainmail, etc.

Dregz spends some time first of all eating, then sorting out his gear (handing over the Bag of Holding he'd greedily claimed then stuffed full of mundane equipment to Bully with a woeful "Dis is too heavy for me !").

Night 12: The Sea of Dust

”Dats Fenwater Bile.” Jurz describes the green liquid just before dinner.  ”When youse drinks it youse pukes and poops all over de place.  But youse pukes and poops out any diseases or poisons at de same time.    Dat could be fun to watch, if’n youse don’t get too close.” the little druid explains.

After that he happily chomps on what ever dinner the others cook up, while he gets the Pee Tree out for Bulldust to retry and rig his auto feed coin system.  After dinner, and before bed, he will look across the loot, taking one of the padlocks and an clasp from a book, both marked with the holy symbol, for his personal stampy stick cache.

OOC:  How much water do we have?  Anyone detected magic in the library?

msg #305:
Minmorc will gleefully busy himself carting and steel armor and weapons to room 11 and carrying any corpses to what he's referring to as the larder, room 19. He will leave his masterwork cauldron in the larder with Oopses. "Oi Oopses, wen yer done yer butcherin an yer set up yer fire pit let me know an I'll gets Nuffle ter put sum water in der pot fer boilen. First we doz der lootin, den we doz der feastin!"

That cooking fire ended up happening upstairs because Oopses refused to light a fire downstairs where it would have filled the whole place with smoke.

Detecting for magic reveals there are no magical auras in the library. There are several bookshelves full of leather-bound books but they are all written in a language none of you are familiar with (the ancient Suel language).

Minmorcs priorities remain the same - Eat, loot, sleep. He will help Oopses with the cooking and will also lop the limbs off the Dwarf, dire badger and Gnomes and will hang them to drain and dry in the larder. After he's had his fill of centipede legs, steak and mushrooms he will put the suits of armor that he's raided from the armory into sacks and tie them with a thirty foot length of rope to make it easier to carry them. He'll also offer his haversack to help carry anything that wouldn't fit in Dregses bag. Then, happily exhausted he will ask around if anyone wants any of the carpets and mattresses from room seven to sleep on. Once everyone else is happy he'll make a nest in room seven out of whatever rugs and whatnot remain for himself and Riza and will go to sleep.

Having missed the discovery earlier, while he was trying to find the missing piece of the Magic Stick, and then later owing to the perils of the deadly trap, Dregz is astonished when he finally learns that there is a whole room of books.  Eagerly he plucks one volume from the shelf, then another, eyes wide.

"Dese are all holy texts !" the little priest announces.  "We must take dem all fer safekeepin' !"

"Dey're ... quite holy," Dregz decides.  "Dey'll be much holier once I paste 'em in !" the little goblin pats his backpack which contains his glue pot, though as he looks around the bookshelves he realises the true enormity of that task.

"Bits of dem are holy," he amends his earlier remark.  "I'll have to sort through dem."

If Jurz's questions are confusing, even to the druid himself, Minmorc's are doubly so, not least of which for the very good reason that there might actually be a wrong answer.

On matters of holy texts, though, the little goblin priest's faith is very clear.

"More holy," Dregz tells the big orc confidently.

She keeps to herself for the rest of the time, but can be seen fiddling with a small wooden box. She helps Minmorc with the cooking and distribution of the rugs and such You don't realise how tired you are until you get a chance to relax

When dregz and Minmorc head to the library she will poke her head in Glad youse guys like books all I see is fire starters She chuckles to herself before heading back to her rug and resting before she gets woken for her shift

Bully gladly takes the bag of holding that was too heavy for Dregz.  He puts in everyone's bundles of silvered all the other treasure that has not yet been shared out.  He will explain the workings of the centipede auto-feed for the pee tree so that those on watch can keep his coins rolling in all through the sleep (never pausing to consider that they could possibly have nothing better to do) so he will have 3 flasks of double strength holy water after 10 hours.  He sleeps next to Moffa and wakes up bigger and stronger, older and wiser looking more like his portrait every day.

When Moffdust gave her the crock of seeds, she cocked her head to one side, looking at it with first one eye, then the other, cocking her head to the other side. Suddenly her head darted forward to grab a beakful of seeds and swallowed them down! After a few seconds her eyes got big and she hugged Moffdust with joy. These were rare seeds indeed!

"Tank youz Moffdust! Youz so niz youz iz me frind foreverz!"

She sprinkled some seeds on her food too and daintally ate the ceenter peed and scream of mushroom soup. She offered seeds around to the others if they wanted some.
